Disappointing but fun if you want to feel old
"If you want to feel old, then go on the Princess Cruise through the Panama Canal. She would probably never go on another Princess cruise because all the musical entertainment was from her grandparents era who are now dead...."Read More

Good Stops, Horrible Food and Program

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Island Princess

User Avatar

I decided to do this 14 day cruise with my family from Fort Lauderdale stopping at 8 ports. Ship was nice, Onboarding was great. Room service was ok. The restaurant dining was quite good. However, the buffet was absolutely horrendous. Almost every day, the menu was limited and boring. Food looked recycled... dry or overcooked, unappetizing, bad smell. Fruits were sour or tasted rotten... melon ...

Bar bill

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Island Princess

I enjoyed my cruise even though the excursions were very expensive. Since arriving home I have tried to contact Princess three times to ask them to refund the money they took from my account for a bar bill that is incorrect because I did not order any drinks. Their online form does not work and when I rang them I was told to call the USA. I think this is a shocking way to treat customers. ...

More for destinations than the ship

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Island Princess

We booked this as a "drop and go" back to backs more for the destinations than the ship. Some places in Norway we had been to before. We were very limited in cabins available and were in an ocean view cabin. It was acceptable once we got the room properly cleaned, aired and supplied. The window needed a good clean and it was more like being in an inside cabin as window was so filthy with scum ...

Good itinerary, some (but not all) good staff; aging ship well past retirement age

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Island Princess

I had a solo full suite S6, aft-facing. A decent enough cabin, in need of some cleaning. Like all Princess ships, overall service quality has fallen over the years. I've sailed some others (Majestic and Enchanted) that seem to have recovered post-COVID; this one has not. Overall service is uneven, some crew really care, while others are excited about how soon their contract ends. It's not ...

Avoid cabin

Chose cruise for itinerary ( it does not stop in Russia) and after cruise scheduling- so far service excellent, cabin horrible constant noise ( they moved us last night to port side), quite a bit of Horizon Court food very chewy Mexican, pork; fruit very fresh, good variety but question quality- does not seem to be quality level of Discovery, Regal, or Enchanted ships;casino is very small, ...

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

We chose this cruise because it was a complete transit of the Panama Canal. The cruise had 5 stops plus a full day transiting the canal. Stops were Puerto Vallarta and Huatulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Panama City, Panama; and Cartagena, Columbia. We booked local tours through Travel Advisor for all ports but Puntarenas which we booked through Princess. The Princess tour in ...

Northern Lights – Out There Somewhere

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Island Princess

User Avatar

SUMMARY The main reason for joining this cruise is the chance see the Northern Lights, as the Ports visited are not very interesting, especially when it is cold and wet. Island Princess is now the smallest ship in the Princess Fleet (as is Coral Princess), has limited dining options and only two main lounges. Food and service were good. Daytime entertainment was poor but we had a great bunch ...

Visited some beautiful and interesting places.

Been a Princess Cruise customer for decades but this was the first cruise since Covid. We had lowered our expectations accordingly but apparently not low enough. Our biggest gripes were food and Internet. Princess food was never spectacular but it's downright mediocre now. Heard lots of other people complaining too echoing sentiments to never sail Princess again. At best banquet-quality and ...

Disappointed with the ship, staff and food!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Island Princess

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and to travel with good friends. While the overall ship is fine, the "upgraded" balcony cabins are woefully inadequate. The bathroom is very small and the shower is cramped (even for a 5'4" 140lb female!) While the cabin is obviously for 2 people, it has only 1 chair so someone has to sit on the bed. The one positive was our cabin steward who was ...

Missed two ports due to wind, but cruise was delightful

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Island Princess

User Avatar

Two of the ports (Haugesund and Lerwick) were missed due to high winds. But our purpose for the cruise was to visit Iceland, and those ports were great! Food was average and service was great. Arriving without luggage from flight was annoying but the ship tried hard to accommodate our situation. The transition from COVID-intensive to normal cruising is happening slowly and still impacts ...
