Having cruised previously with P&O, NCL, and even Carnival, we had high expectation of RCS after reading so many good reviews of the line.
While some aspects were very good there were a combination of things that only served to confirm that we will think twice about booking again, though we tend to book on itinerary and date and not through blinkered loyalty to any line.
Taken in isolation ...
Transatlantic 2 weeks. Ship is well cared-for, and crew everywhere were friendly and cordial. Ship is very clean, and there were people everywhere wiping the surfaces.
There is evidence of thrift in the Windjammer, where cold cuts offered were salami, some kind of ham and something else we used to call pressed ham. Occasional liverwurst, but no turkey or chicken, and only once in a while ...
This was a very enjoyable itinerary, combining both Caribbean and transatlantic cruising. The ports were all interesting, we didn't take the ship tours but were easily able to do our own exploration. The ship is in very good condition even though its due for a refurbishment later this year. Our stateroom was spacious and our attendant was excellent.
The food was of a good standard both in the ...
This was 3rd cruise on Independence of the Seas. Sad to see the ship now showing lots of signs of wear&tear! It has lost a lot if it's sparkle. (Badly worm seats in Windjammer, chipped furnishings in stateroom snd ship) But that didn't spoil this cruise for us, Just made us decide we would NOT be cruising on Indy again. MDR portion sizes are lot smaller, lack of vegetables served with meals (we ...
We chose this cruise in order to sail with friends we had met on our previous Trans-Atlantic.
After four days in London, we arrived in Southampton by train and we were at the port within ten minutes. Embarkation was quick and we were on the ship within twenty minutes.
After lunch in the Windjammer, we walked around the ship until our cabin was ready. The cabin (9220) had a balcony that had ...
We booked this cruise as we have a lot of time off work and thought it would be nice to travel across the Atlantic and visit some Caribbean islands before having a few days in Florida before home. It was out first cruise.
Checkin was really easy at Southampton, although there were very long queues.
The ship was big. Very big, but we knew this and there are lots of things to do on board. We ...
Check in super, cabin was large and clean.
The Food was just average but cooked badly. Most dishes were so bad you could not eat them. A British Chef that could not cook english food. Lancashire hot pot is made with best end of lamb ( neck) and not with Beef.
They started to run out of things early in the cruise this time.
The USA control in St thomas was so badly organized, the USA ...
Boarding at Southampton was a dream compared to US ports, super-efficient, but that seemed to be the end of the good times.
The cabin was clean and mostly worked though the shower had to be turned well past the red protective button to get warm water.
Food was standard RCI fare with a few British twists, though the cabin kettles were grabbed before we sailed.
What RCI called the ...
We are a married couple from Scandinavia who previous have been on about 40 cruises. We have sailed, both on many Transatlantic Cruises, and on other destinations with several different Cruise Lines.
Pre-cruise: We had for the third time booked in advance a car with chauffeur from Online Airport Cars in London, to take us to our hotel in Southampton. It worked again OK for us, and we thought ...
after a family visit in the UK I always prefer to travel one way via Royal Caribbean. I managed to persuade my mother to do the crossing with me, and I was exhausted trying to keep up with her as she would partake in most of the activities on offer, from swimming before breakfast, to doing laps of the jogging track to the miniature golf, to table tennis, to the golf simulator to shuffleboard. I ...
