We suddenly had four days free over the Memorial holiday and booked this cruise.
We are Celebrity and Disney cruisers and we were excited to try something different.
We purchased The Key, which gives your priority embarkation/debarkation, embarkation lunch, debarkation breakfast, and internet. There's some other perks, but we didn't use them. It was worth the extra cost.

We chose this booking for our family, who had never been cruising. Also, we wanted to try an interior cabin for the first time. So, for us, the cruise was a success! However, our grandson was disappointed that the kiddie pool was closed most of the trip.

We literally just got off the ship. We are on a bench waiting for our Go Port bus. We have used Go Port twice and like it.
The good:
We enjoyed the Grease show. It is just singing and dancing but lots of fun.
We thought the food in the MDR was as good as when we were on Harmony.
We liked the ship just as much as Harmony.

Well the excitement didnt last long. This was my children's first cruise and I feel that the independence of the seas was a let down. The food was poor quality. Unless I went to the the formal dining and I traded good food for poor quality of cleanliness. I understand that nickle-and-diming guests is core to the cruise business now, but making drinking water hard to come by is unconscionable. Staff wanted a $9 value drink ticket for a bottle of water, or would stand there and pour it into a cup for free. The only drinking fountain is hidden in the gym, with a 'no bottle filling' sign.

We arrived at the pier at 1230 after visiting Total Wine. Check in was a breeze as we had already done most of the work online. We met with the agent who scanned our passports and took a quick photo. We were walking onboard within 10 minutes of arrival.
