We were really looking forward to this cruise. There were too many people on this ship. Our first evening we realised that there were not enough seating in-social areas for the amount of people on board. Every evening after dinner it was three deep at the bar to get a drink there was no seating available to enjoy a drink, we ended up walking aimlessly around with drink in our hand , which was ...
Our first cruise was a short one on Indy in April 2017, so we were excited to be sailing on her again last month to the Canary Islands. What we didn’t know was that during its ‘refit’ last year they also added more cabins. We were informed there were 4500 passengers (an extra 500 people) on our sailing, the ship was full to bursting point. I am disabled and therefore used a walking stick and ...
My 75th birthday treat and Bucket List "Go on a BIG SHIP". 4,128 passengers, 1,600 sunbeds. Overcrowded by about 1,000 passengers too many. Queues everywhere. Despite valiant staff service at bars is appalling that's if you can get a seat. On non sun days there is an acute shortage of seats. Hence the high amount of scooters as this is the only way to guarantee a seat.
The food in the MDR is ...
Having cruised with RC before and also on this particular ship, we decided to give it another go. We were absolutely shocked that the service had significantly gone downhill, whilst the prices had rocketed!
We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was not terribly different to the standard balcony cabin... Slightly more space, a bathtub & larger balcony, but nothing else for your buck... Not even a ...
This was our second cruise with RC, the 1st being on Navigator of the Seas out of Galveston, so I can only compare between the two. OMG what a difference, Day 1 at sea (yes it was chilly and windy and not the Caribbean) but it looked like someone had died, the only happy person was an American in the smoking area. Pool activities (bellyflop, volleyball) were only on Day 8, there was a poolside ...
We found noise to be the biggest problem with the cruise. With 5500 people on the ship, and music in all the public areas there was no comfortable place to escape to; except ones' cabin I suppose .
The quality of meals was passable, certainly no better than any of the meals experienced with other cruise lines. At formal evenings the dress code was not enforced. In fact the Company made it clear ...
Never again will I go with Independence of the Seas. Having had six plus cruises on the Allure and thoroughly enjoying them I was not anticipating any problems on the IOTS. How wrong can you be! First impressions of the ship itself were OK and we tried not to compare its spaciousness to the Allure. Our Suite ( Grand Suite) was a good size as you would expect and the furnishings were acceptable. ...
This was our third cruise with RCI, and the first on Independence. First impressions were good, the stateroom was lovely and the ship looked great. But oh dear how things have slipped at RCI. While the quality overall of the food was ok, the choice was abysmal and almost wholly "British" - we are Brits ourselves but if we'd wanted this we'd have chosen P & O! I mean seriously one night there were ...
The ship itself is stunning, there is a lack of open areas to sit out, and there feels like there is a lack of natural light in a lot of the public spaces. The cabin we had was really nice, spotless and fairly spacious. The shower was also fantastic, and the balcony was a good size. The bed was huge, and very comfortable with a memory foam top.
This ship however, is far too crowded. Its big ...
How do you start to describe an experience which was a nightmare from start to finish!!My advice to future travellers don't waste your money. The Royal Caribbean company is all about making as much money out of their guests has possible ie photographs, drinks, shuttle bus charges, spa treatments,INTERNET CHARGES (TOTAL JOKE)and many more items which add to your final sea pass bill.My daughter was ...
