Stormy weather for our January Cruise

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Nordnorge

We did enjoy our cruise, but we only had a slight glimmer of the Northern Lights on one evening & the cruise had to be curtailed because of exceptionally stormy weather, and a technical issue with the ship. Norway had floods, roads blocked by snow and truly difficult conditions to contend with. We were also unable to dock at some ports, because of the weather. The excursion to the North Cape had ...

Nice cruise, cabin quality very dissapointing

Cruised Norwegian fjords for my wife's 60th birthday. Everything was most enjoyable except for the cabin quality. We booked together with another couple for a cabin, with porthole/outside view, but may be restricted. We all paid the same price. Hurtigruten would not provide cabin location/quality until we boarded. Our cabin must have been the worst possible cabin, whilst our friends had a ...

Blessed with warm sunny days, fabulous views of the mountains

Service in restaurant: Could be poor. Twice I sat down by a window. The table was empty. I cleared the crumbs as there was no one around. Great views of the scenery and that is why I came on the cruise. I got told off b two waiters that the table was not accessible because had not been cleared. This was not service to me. Cooked food did not look appetizing to me, not hot. I ...

Wonderful ship - a shame about the excursions

We have just returned from a South to North trip. Some of the experiences were great, the ship was comfortable and the crew friendly but we will not be going again in the late spring for the wildlife as we'd originally intended. From the UK everything is very, very expensive. More than we'd anticipated. £10 for a lager, £40+ for a run of the mill Pinot Grigio, £80-£100 for a 2 hour sightseeing ...

Word of mouth from friends and positive reviews led to us taking this cruise. Knew it was not going to be a 'luxury' cruise and a working ship. The Hurtigruten booking staff were excellent to deal with online and will do other bookings e.g. rail and transfers etc. Embarkation and disembarkation done well. The scenery is stunning and seeing Northern Lights on 4 separate occasions makes it a fine ...

Some highlights, some disappointments. I'd do it differently next time.

I did the Northbound Voyage from Bergen all the way to Kirkenes with my mom in Fall 2017. This was my first cruise experience. I'll start with the good parts. Good Thing #1 -- The boat's facilities (ours was the MS Nordnorge) were pretty nice. Recently renovated, everything was clean and in good working shape. I most enjoyed the two jacuzzis and the lounges on the top deck. Our cabin was ...

We were very happy with all aspects of cruise with just a few exceptions. Dining room. We were instructed to use a hand sanitizer as we entered the dining room which was good. However, the bread was sliced by customers and most times did not bother to use the towel just bare hands. The cheese tray which was beautiful with many cheeses and fruits was also unprotected with people cutting and ...
