Niece's 18th Birthday and HS Graduation Gift Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

I sailed on the NCL Jewel before and when I saw it sailed from Houston this was a no-brainer for my gift of a cruise to my niece. I have preconceived notion of what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised and a few areas. First, I heard there was 750 children on board and I would say 99% of them were extremely well behaved. I enjoyed sharing the cruise with them. In fact I Delighted in ...

Great Time on the Jewel

This was our first time cruising out of Houston. Parking at the Port was easy as was driving in and out of the Port. You must purchase parking pass on line to receive the $75/week rate otherwise it is $80. We arrived about noon and embarkation was smooth. It takes roughly about 4 hours to get out of the Port of Houston, so all alcoholic beverages have a tax on them, and the casino won't open ...

I found a handful of people complaining about length of time to get a drink. We found the best waiter the 1st day & our group just meshed with him. He had the best personality & went the extra mile for us daily. We usually started out the day with a nice tip because he was well deserving of it. I hope you all are lucky enough to meet Oswell Raymond. He will make your trip extra special. You ...

It was our first cruise. And we don't like crowded places. But at Jewel, we never had this. Everything was good organized. We booked a balconyroom and it was awesome. Very clean, super roomservice. We were the most time eaten at the buffetrestaurant, because we like indian and asian foot. We also enjoyed breakfast at our balcony. And the T'sar Restaurant have very good breakfast and dinner and ...

We stayed in cabin 5566 an outside with an ocean view and 5567 inside cabin (for the kids) Embark and Disembark was quick and flawless a great job. Pros: good sized cabin. Bathroom was great with a good size shower and a closing door on the toilet room. In the cabin there was a small desk and a table and plenty of storage in the room. Not enough hangers really in the closet. The room ...

I got a cruise bug last summer and booked us on the Jewel. I had been on the S/S Norway in 1996, and again for our honeymoon in 2002, right before it went out of service. Of course, by late July, the biggest room we could get was a minisuite. It slept 4, so that seemed reasonable. (our kids are 3 and 6) We drove to Houston, stayed at a hotel near the terminal, then boarded fairly early the ...

We went on one of the busy Spring Break cruise weeks while our kids were on Spring Break. It was my husband and myself on our 7th NCL cruise and 7th cruise, and our sons 9 and 6, one on his 2nd NCL cruise and one on his first cruise. My husband and I like to cruise when it is less crowded and a better deal, but we also wanted to take our kids on a cruise that they would be old enough to remember. ...

Great ship, loved the "freestyle" cruising

We were apprehensive because we really like meeting new people at our usual dining room set schedule, but we enjoyed going to the different restaurants and trying the different cuisines. Our favorite restaurant was the steak house. Didn't like the Japanese style cooking table restaurant that much, but it was OK. Our room was very small, but clean. It was #11649, and was at the very back of the ...

This was our 21st cruise but the first time in 20 years that we were on NCL. The food was awesome. Entertainment was great. Especially the comedian and the comedian magician. Loved the washy washy guy that sang for you when you entered the buffet. Trujillo left a lot to be desired. Very poverished and nothing there to do. The bathrooms in the room were extremely small. This was our first ...

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Emerald Princess

First time sailing with princess after sailing with carnival in the past on several cruises. Was very impressed with the condition of the ship, attitude of the crew, and food compared to carnival. Ship seemed less packed with passengers than the carnival cruises and crowd probably were in mid 40's and older (I'm mid 50 so better fit with music, waits at the bar, etc). Still plenty of night life ...
