We had a blast on this cruise, before and after. Yes, the Jade is dated, but she is also do for a retrofit shortly. That said, we did not have any trouble with any systems in our cabin (5601), just things looking a bit worse for the wear. The bathroom was actually one of the nicer ones that we have had, and felt far less cramped than some we've had.

We chose the transatlantic cruise out of the Houston port on NCL Jade because it was the last time NCL would be embarking from Houston. The embarkation was fast and easy. We had a fun time on this ship. It appears there is a TA crowd that we plugged into from cruise critic and we had a blast getting together on sailaways, a daily game of LCR which grew larger (and louder) every day, the cabin crawl and met some wonderful people. We would definitely do it again.

Even though the Jade is going in for remodeling, we loved the old Hawaiian decor. We thought it was really elegant and not gaudy. Service was excellent. Overall, our 1st bi-annual multi-generational family cruise was a really awesome trip.
Here's my review-in the simplest possible frame of mind:

1st transatlantic. very relaxing . very smooth seas. older crowd. very friendly. Ship was well maintained and well laid out. I believe the ship sailed more than 1500 passengers short of capacity. Our balcony cabin was functional with a comfortable bed but the cabin and balcony were smaller than average. Cabin steward was very efficient. Casino was empty-- no players.

.This was a retirement cruise for my wife and number 12 overall for us. For the last several years we had opted to do all inclusive do to cost factors, but this was a deal.
