Solstice - poor management organisation, communication, service

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

Celebrity Solstice -- 2 out of 6 rating. No organisation/communication on this ship. They had norovirus on the ship on the Australian leg, but did not even advise the guests on board at the time. Guest relations were not consistent with their information. No passenger booklets/info in rooms No drink menus until 2nd last day, so missed out on so many potentially nice drinks in bars and ...

We're a multigenerational family who typically cruise once or twice a year. We've tried many of the major cruise lines and have especially enjoyed our trips with Norwegian and Holland America in recent years. We thought it was time for a change and booked a trip on the Celebrity Solstice from Hawaii to Ensenada. We were all very excited to try Celebrity and cruise on a Solstice-class ship. I ...

Solstice organization and management a disaster

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We are long time cruisers and Celebrity Elite Captains Club members That have been looking forward to the arrival on the west coast of a Solstice class ship. Lets not delay this experience was a huge disappointment. They let us know ahead of time that the dreaded Novo virus had broken out on the previous cruise from Australia. The consequence of this was an advisory to not come to the dock prior ...

To Celebrity or not that is the question

The solstice is a really beautiful ship well laid out and we liked how everything was easily accessed from midship elevators . we were in conciegre class and the cabin was quite good although the couch was a bit uncomfortable and it was too close to the wardrobe but that is something and nothing the bathroom was very nice and the bonus was no shower curtain. We ate in the buffet for all meals so ...

FAILED TO MEET EXPECTATIONS

Sometimes the the over-inflated reviews of past guest cause you go into an experience with too high of expectations. Our cruise aboard the Celebrity Solstice was one of those. The ship itself is simply beautiful and glides through the water so smooth you barely know you're moving but it seems that the hotel management operation is where the short-comings were for us. While you didn't hear ...

Cruise fine; embarkation a mess; disembarkation a disaster

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

Good news first: cruise was fine; the tour past the active volcano at night was breathtaking. It was a hassle to have the crew serve everything, but if it kept the ship healthy, then people should get over the inconvenience. Bad news: embarkation was a mess. No communication, no clear direction, check-in staff who were at best untrained, at worst totally incompetent. And the fundamental ...

Boarding in Honolulu was chaos, the staff did not seem to have any experience, luggage did not arrive at cabin till 1 hour after sailing [even though we were at the port 5 hours before sailing].The cruise director [Stu],had the personality of a squashed snail [a nice guy,but not suited to the task]At each port there were lengthy delays going ashore [the excuse was always,we have not been here before ...

Customer service theater -- don't expect solutions

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Radiance of the Seas

This 18 day cruise gave us an opportunity to get to know the RCI crew over multiple interactions. It wasn't one single issue, but rather the culture and attitude towards customer service -- reinforced several times -- that leads me to avoid RCI for any future cruise unless there is evidence of a turnaround in customer service practices. I'll summarize RCI's customer service as being theater -- ...

NCL awarded Worst Cruise Line Ever!!!

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Norwegian Sky

The problem is, where do I start? Getting onto the cruise ship was quite smooth and pain-free. The agents made sure they processed your info and that you were on your way onto the ship fairly quickly. HOWEVER, while walking through the promenade to get to the ship, you will have a few people standing there ready to sell you stuff already. The most notable one was the Coca-Cola bottle. They want ...

Really Really Bad

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Norwegian Sky

User Avatar

OK. I waited a few weeks to calm down before I wrote this... Bottom line is, it's bad. It's really bad. If you have ever been on ANY other cruise line, then you would NOT want to go "Freestyle" or "America". I learned that these are really code words for: "Instead of staff who care, we hire kids out of high school and then we chalk up the poor service to "freestyle" cruise experience." Staff ...
