Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Pride of America

Pride of America is an anomaly in the NCL fleet - it does not vary from its four-island Hawaii itinerary - no sea days - never leaving American waters - no casino (as per law). I was relieved to discover that its design was not all colonial / monument style - that is limited to the main lobby and a few restaurants. The other public areas are themed around the rest of America: Napa CA (wine bar), ...

Great trip with a few considerations

This was my 5th+ time cruising with NCL and this trip was for my honeymoon. In general, I enjoyed the trip, the ports & excursions were excellent. The onboard activities were just alright, the cruise director seemed nice but would make odd/ cringey comments, during the game shows it was often awkward for the guests on stage. I was also upset to see that most if not all of the exercise classes ...

Everything went well from check in to cruising and ports except there was a day in one of the restaurants where the service was very slow. Entertainment was fun for the ones we attended (comedy show and singer). The ship was nice and clean and the bar service was very good. Staff was friendly and service overall was very good. Getting on/off the ship was easy in ports and everything was very ...

So I thought I would share b/c I was quite stresses prior to the cruise based on older pre-pandemic reviews and feedback. Ultimately, we chose this b/c our family was visiting Hawaii for the first time and had no knowledge of what to do and where to go. It was a great choice as we were able to see the major stops and decide where we want to return to. We booked an extra day before and after to ...

Laundry: Yep, I am not paying 1.99 for 1 piece of underwear. On day 2 in Maui go to Kahului Laundromat. They only take cash so be prepared (1 roll of quarters did a large load of laundry and 30 minutes of drying time). It was an hour out of the trip and the right call for us. If you flew in early, then that should be enough to get you through the rest of the cruise. Taxis: You are better off ...

We sailed on POA at the end of September in 2023. I poured over reviews on this site and will admit that I had my expectations set very low from the consistently harsh reviews on here. This will not be such a review. We had an absolute wonderful vacation in Hawaii. Is this a traditional cruise? Absolutely not. If you go in thinking you're going to be doing activities all over the ship during ...

Great cruise - different to other NCL ships

We were bit concerned about the ship after seeing negative reviews but we had no issues. Ship is small but has plenty of bars and more places to eat then you can actually do in a week! No sewage smells like others have reported. All crew we met were great, always had a smile on their faces and we're great fun. Cabins are on the small side but there is plenty of storage and it's such a ...

We chose this Cruise to get to see more of the Hawaiian Islands and that happened ok. Having read the good and bad reviews of the Pride of America I can confirm both. Just depends upon what you want. It wasn’t a relaxing cruise with plenty of on board activities. It was a trip around the islands doing plenty of activities. NCL activities are expensive and we heard from others that they could be ...

Mediocre cruise in an amazing setting

We wanted to cruise in Hawaii to see more of the islands. This was our goal and it was accomplished! The ship is basic and I felt they didn’t try as hard because of the beautiful setting. Food was par to subpar, rooms had an odor. Staff varied. I felt the staff in main dining and buffet were better overall. Room steward didn’t really interact with us like cruises before COVID (in fact he threw ...

NCL Spirit - each shop has its own character and atmosphere

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

I chose this cruise as it hits two of my must see destinations - Hawaii and Alaska. This was a repositioning cruise out of Honolulu ending at Vancouver. 16 days with 7 or so sea days. Clientele mostly USA or Canadian on their way home. Age group was primarily 60s and above, though I did see a couple of toddlers under 7. There is really nothing to do for kiddies on the ship so be aware if ...
