Disappointing

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Queen Victoria

This is the first time we have been on a Cunard ship so we had high expectations. Taking into consideration the ship is on a world cruise the ship is visually in very poor condition externally and this continues to the outside areas once you board the ship. Rust everywhere, ripped and filthy seating In all areas. The inside public areas are in better condition and are well ...

The Good … 1. the staff were wonderful especially Angelyn, Leo, Gerald & Christanto!! 2. The ship is beautiful, especially the atrium & the main dining room. Alot of thought went into the decor & it look’s expensive. 3. our bed was so comfortable & the room was really nice. I know alot moaned that it was tired & due a refurb but we didn’t notice. 4. Ship in real need of updating

Review for a Asia Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

Just returned from Far East cruise on Solstice. I have sailed with Celbrity a couple of times before and was happy with those cruises, so content to use them again. Solstice though is a ship in real need of updating and refurbishment as looking very dated and shabby in parts. Had a balcony cabin that was kept very clean by a great attendant (Jovie) and she also ensured we were happy with ...

Celebrity Solstice Far East

Review for a Asia Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

The ship was excellent and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The only detractors were the distances from port to excursion destinations for a few places. 2-3 hour journey times were often the case. We didn’t go to Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh because of this. Instead we spent an overnight in Pattaya which wa only 40 minutes in a taxi (£8 on a Grab taxi rather than the $60 US the taxis were looking ...

Awful food with great service. Live worm in my ice

Service was fantastic. Food is awful. You can smell their fresh fish’ black away. Absolutely beautiful dining room with the worst food. Hot food is cold, cold food was hot. I ordered udon noodles in their salt restaurant. It was vegetables with uncooked dry noodles that look like instant noodles that they just came out of a package. No broth no water nothing it was just plain dry noodles. I just ...

A most enjoyable trip

Review for a Asia Cruise on Azamara Journey

User Avatar

First Time Cruiser • Age 60s

This is our 6th cruise with Azamara and we were somewhat concerned at how things would be on board after suffering through the booking process on the new, badly implemented and frankly appalling booking system. First impressions are that the ship is looking a little tired with some areas needing a spruce up but overall these issues are not major. Officers and crew are, as usual, outstanding ...

Met our heightened expectations

The ship has an elegant interior which is kept spotlessly clean. All passengers were greeted with a glass of champagne on embarkation which foreshadowed the great service for the whole cruise. Cabins were immediately available so after unpacking we went to the aft buffet for a snack. We were warmly greeted and treated to nice glasses of wine while admiring the view of Hong Kong in somewhat chilly ...

Expected more - Got a whole lot less.

Review for a Asia Cruise on Westerdam

Cruising is a game of expectations as with most things in life. Having previously sailed on freestyle ships, that are often looked down on, we expected a little more from our first Holland America experience. So this review is more related to how we were disillusioned with “traditional old school” cruising. Embarkation in Hong Kong. Not a drop of water or morsel of a snack for guests waiting ...

Not the Cruise line it used to be

Review for a Asia Cruise on Westerdam

We cruise a lot and travelled on the Holland America line before covid and it was fine. However this most recent trip was disappointing and an exercise in money-grabbing. The menu did not change the entire trip, that is to say French onion soup was the ONLY soup on offer for the duration - how difficult is it to make another type of soup? On the first day I asked for the herring but was told it ...

Good points: - Good selection of food in the buffet restaurant and at lunchtime in the Epernay restaurant. - Some of the music in the bars - especially The Storytellers. - The Martini bar and its staff - hugely entertaining and friendly. - Tuscan Grill speciality restaurant food and service. Excellent and substantial dishes. - The pool and jacuzzis. - Our balcony cabin - ...
