Really Good

I was somewhat apprehensive about our cruise from Singapore to Hong Kong on this ship as there have been a number of negative reviews about the ship. I really don't understand why, the ship is perfectly charming if in need of a little updating and care but really its a beautiful ship. Cabins are lovely and very, very clean as is all of the ship. The theatre is a delight, comfy seats and somewhere ...

We signed up for this cruise 2 years ago. We have almost every detail planned. Plane mechanical problems caused us to miss one day and one tour in Hong Kong. Regretfully, all prepaid, non-refundable. It was sign of more trouble to come. The Millennium is a wonderful ship. She is in great shape for her age and is well maintained. Our cabin 1136 was in great shape with no problems. I cannot ...

TAIPEI AT LAST

Having visited Beijing three times - all work related, we were very keen to visit Taipei as it seems the jewels from the Forbidden City ended up in Taipei after the civil war. Not the easiest of places to schedule travel and we saw this cruise offered a stop here. Plus we also wanted to visit Shanghai, Vietnam, and South Korea. Taipei and the National museum were OK but we had maybe too high ...

After reading all the negative reviews for the Millennium we were concerned that we possibly made the wrong choice for this cruise. This was our third cruise with Celebrity and once again, we were NOT DISAPPOINTED! The ship was older than what we were use to, but it was well maintained. Our cabin was clean and the service was as good as any other Celebrity ship we have sailed on. Food and ...

Better than past reviews indicated

After reading past reviews of the Millie over the last 3 months, we did not have high expectations. However, we were surprised in almost every category by service that exceeded expectations. We booked Aqua Class, which allowed us to bypass the Main Dining Room - that was a huge plus. Embarkation was smooth although the Hong Kong Kai Tak cruise port was very inconveniently located. Alleged ...

My wife and I were on the 12 night Asian cruise which began on Jan. 14 and ended on Jan. 26. We used Choice Air for our travel arrangements. We flew into Hong Kong the night before the scheduled departure date, arrived on time, and easily acquired a taxi from the airport. We stayed at the Eaton Hong Kong on Nathan Rd. This location offered us a chance to safely walk in a well known area of ...

World Cruise; the Good and the Bad

We wanted to visit many of the ports offered on this leg of the World cruise. Embarkation was poorly organised as there was little room at HongKong terminal. Our cabin was fine and what we expected ie Queen size bed, balcony and good bathroom with bath and tea making facility. There was poor hanging space in the wardrobe but we managed. Meals we found a bit dull,do not go on PO expecting ...

This was our 3rd cruise with HAL. The first 2 were on Amsterdam, which immediatly set a high standard, which Volendam couldn't quite attain. More on that later. We had booked this itinerary a couple of years ago, but unfortunately it was chartered away from under us.We ended up doing a 37 day Grand Voyage sector on Amsterdam from Fort Lauderdale to Sydney, which was absolutely magnificent. We ...

Great Trip to Asia

We boarded the Volendam in Hong Kong. Embarkation was a breeze and we were happy to hear that our cabins were ready even before noon. Our cabin had lots of storage space. The newly installed lanai cabins had great new showers and we enjoyed the amenities like lotions and soaps. It was nice to have the shelves on the bathroom wall and the shelf under the sink. We did find that the ...

Although we were entitled to eat in Luminae(sp?), the menu there was extremely limited, so we ate at Blu other than the first night. We had quite a bit of confusion with Guest Services, since they had told us that because of the new Luminae, we would NOT be entitled to the two complimentary dinings at Olympics and/or Qsine. After about 5 discussions with them, they agreed they had errored and ...
