Ship in real need of updating

Review for a Asia Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

Just returned from Far East cruise on Solstice. I have sailed with Celbrity a couple of times before and was happy with those cruises, so content to use them again. Solstice though is a ship in real need of updating and refurbishment as looking very dated and shabby in parts. Had a balcony cabin that was kept very clean by a great attendant (Jovie) and she also ensured we were happy with ...

Good points: - Good selection of food in the buffet restaurant and at lunchtime in the Epernay restaurant. - Some of the music in the bars - especially The Storytellers. - The Martini bar and its staff - hugely entertaining and friendly. - Tuscan Grill speciality restaurant food and service. Excellent and substantial dishes. - The pool and jacuzzis. - Our balcony cabin - ...

No reason not to sail on Azamara again but no compelling reason either

Review for a Asia Cruise on Azamara Quest

We chose the cruise to meet up with family from the UK and to visit Japan for the first time. This was our first time on Azamara. The embarkation in Hong Kong was chaotic. Most staff are a delight and go out of their way to help; a few should find another occupation. We only did two ship's tours and they were excellent. Our main complaint was the lack of port information before we docked. ...

Beautiful but crowdy ship

The ship is new and beautiful. It holds 5 thousand passengers , so long lines everywhere, dinning, games embarkation and disembarkation. We were travelling during X'mas holiday so the ship was entirely sold out with 12 hundred kids on board. It was impossible to find a quiet place. The ship is catered to the Asian market and there are lots of Chinese dishes in the buffet and the main dinning ...

Too many children!

Review for a Asia Cruise on Silver Spirit

After cruising extensively on Oceania I thought I would try Silversea. Oceania discourages children so it came as a shock to discover there were nearly 60 children on the Silversea cruise (10% of the passengers). Instead of being a sophisticated adult experience, the cruise was more like a school outing. Kids running around everywhere and a cacophony of high pitch screaming from the forest of ...

Experience on Orion in SE Asia was mixed

We cruised from Hong Kong to Bangkok. The ship (Viking Orion) is fabulous, the ports are quite a mix, and the passengers are generally not very nice people. We enjoyed the ship, especially the Explorer's Dome and the gym/spa. The food and entertainment/ cultural series were mostly excellent. We especially enjoyed the Chef's Table, Manfredi's is also excellent. In this region of the ...

Ship was great, staff was great, but excursions poor

Review for a Asia Cruise on Viking Orion

We went on this cruise because of the itinerary. Had not been to Hong Kong or Japan. We booked this cruise onboard our last ocean cruise over a year ago. We picked the stateroom we wanted (midships). Little did we know that choosing a lower level cabin we would not have all the rights of people who booked higher levels. For example when it came my turn to book the bullet train it was sold ...

Far Eastern Horizons: Great ship, crew, and food, but relatively poor excursions

Review for a Asia Cruise on Viking Orion

We were traveling with some friends, and were interested in the locations visited. The ship and crew were fantastic. We enjoyed the food, which we felt was diverse and of high quality. However, we were not happy with the excursions. In general, they were superficial, lacking detail in the locations visited. The local guides often had difficulties speaking the English language. These comments ...
