Had an awesome cruise, 7 day Caribbean.
ship is from 2002 but renovated in 2017/18
My wife and I have sailed primarily Royal, Celebrity, Princess, NCL, Carnival and my wife Cunard in the past, over 40 cruises.
1900 passengers and 9 decks with lots of elevators.
many were on 2, 3 and 4 week back to back cruises
we are 65 and 68 so almost felt young!!
An older mix, say average age ...
The cruise was fine, let me start by saying that. But the ship is showing it's age. People were calling it the "rusterdam" because of all the rust evident everywhere. The chair is our room was in deplorable condition. Took pics and sent them to Guest relations. Arms were filthy and the whole chair stained. The crew was amazing as always.
Did notice some changes in the dining room menu. ...
Having done the same cruise on NCL, I found HAL quieter, friendlier and more upscale. Their Half Moon Cay was a pleasant surprise - much nicer than NCL's private island. My signature suite was large; you could throw a small party on the balcony. While the Pinnacle Grill was not worth the extra charge, overall the food, especially in the main Vista dining room, was very good.
The entertainment ...
Hello,
We have been loyal HAL Cruisers the decade or so and have always been quite happy with the ships, the service, the food and our accommodations. We decided to try a Caribbean Cruise to get away for the Xmas and New Years holidays. The food was still fabulous but we noticed other things that seemed to be lacking compared to previous experiences. I know it's just a little thing, but we ...
Just finished our cruise and omg, it was an amazing ship! We embarked from Port Everglades and I have never in my life been without internet access that long, but that's the point of a cruise, right? To experience it all? We did!
We started our trip staying at the Quality Inn & Suites Airport/Cruise Port South. This is key: THEY HAVE A FREE AIRPORT SHUTTLE AAAAAAAAAND A FREE CRUISE ...
- I sure hope HAL reads these reviews.
- Thanks to all who post here and on Boards
Of all the cruises we have ever taken, the Zuiderdam was lowest in our estimation.
- BEWARE of Cabins 1083 and 1085
We were shocked that there was an unidentified noise underneath these
cabins - like a chain being dragged. The vibrations actually shook
the cabins. We complained and later found out these cabins ...
My wife and I were brought along by her family on this cruise for her Grandma's 90th. I think there were about 40 of us in the group. Oversall it was good, no real issues.
We left from FL which went smoothly, except that this beign a holiday cruise - the port and roads to the port were busy. But everything went smoothly. We enjoyed our room, it was big enough, and while we would've ...
We traveled to Fort Lauderdale one day prior to our 2/21 cruise. Springhill Suites at Fort Lauderdale airport was a nice pre-cruise hotel. Beware of their complimentary transfers. They are handled independently and are rude and abrupt. Embarkation was a breeze, best of all 11 prior cruises. We were on board in less than 30 minutes. Had lunch on Lido and rooms were called promptly at 1:3pm. ...
Nice ship...they do what they do quite nicely. This is our second voyage with the Zuiderdam--this time was during February vacation when we thought we would have more children for our kids to meet.
This might be THE cruise line for those 75 and older. Despite the fact that it was a school vacation week, there were still very few kids for our children (15 & 18) to mingle with. Moreso, there was ...
