Just got off the Nieuw Amsterdam 7-day cruise (12/28 to 1/4) and we had a very nice time. Currently, the Nieuw Amsterdam is traveling on 1 of 2 azipod’s because 1 is inoperative. The ship cancelled a 7 day cruise two weeks ago but instead of fixing the problem, the crew sailed with the ship to the Bahamas and they certified it there to run on one azipod instead of two. Because of this cruise, I am no longer feeling the love I used to feel as a 3 star mariner on HAL. We had a very spacious cabin 2555, but in the 16 days we were in it, the air conditioning never worked and the toilet never flushed properly. Wanted a trip with the parents. Had to leave on a Sunday. Got a good price on this cruise. So off we went.
Flew into MIA the day before, and spent the night at the Hampton Inn Airport South, Blue Lagoon. Metro shuttle eventually arrived to take us to Port Everglades the next morning.

We are doing a Thanksgiving cruise to the Eastern Caribbean on the Nieuw Amsterdam.
We booked through a big box store, and even though HAL reduced its rate many times before sailing date, but after final payment, it was difficult to get any compensation. Thus, we paid much more for an inferior cabin which others got for a song.

Room Steward did a great job.
New ship. Clean and bright.
