Great ports of call but many days lost to illness. I have cruised eight previous times and this is the first time I have ever been sick. That being said---MANY guests were very ill on this cruise. My cabin attendant did an excellent job cleaning my stateroom but I never saw banisters, lounges or elevators being cleaned.
Horrible meal at the "Pinnacle". No anchovies for the Cesar Salad and no ...
We did the 36 day cruise commencing in Barcelona on June 16. We took in some great ports of call especially in Croatia,Albania,Monte Negro and Slovenia.
Our cabin was spacious although somewhat noisy at night till about 11.30pm
All amenities on Westerdam were excellent. Food was great in the main dining room and Lido.
Airconditioning in the Crows nest was generally very cold. We ...
We cruised from Barcelona to Rome, June 16-28 and were pleased by most of what the Westerdam had to offer. But the food was a bummer.
We are vegetarian, which limited the choice somewhat but even the choices with this limitation were few. Aside from pure salad, it was hard to find plain food. Everything was loaded with cream, heavy cream. Also, we found out that there is a vegetarian menu ...
Cabin and ship very poor, In the morning you do not even get a pot of tea and a freshly baked hard roll. In every port the worst berths, not a single time a transfer to the city for travelers who even go on a sightseeing tour. It is the by far bad ship with which I have ever taken. Complaints are accepted and one is friendly, but absolutely nothing is done. Every 10 meters on the corridors a ...
Well, except for some small points about the shipping company and the boat as:
The reserved cabin, Signature Suite category SY "guaranteed", does not correspond with the awarded (6108) Suite SS category, supposedly superior category, but being special for people with disabilities, the configuration of the cabin is different: It has no bathtub Hydromassage, no shower with screen, no double sink. ...
This was the first cruise after dry dock. We did not experience any issues in our stateroom. We did see some steps in the main dining room where the carpet needed to be tacked down. Deck 10 was closed but this was not a problem for us. HAL generously compensated us with a $200 on board credit to make up for this issue. This was our 3rd HAL cruise but probably our 20th cruise in total--losing ...
I had many personal problems but I can differ between my individual problems and the general condition on the ship.
There was a t-shirt available:
DAM good ship DAM good crew DAM good food DAM good shows DAM good cruise DAM good vacation
I will be very proud in the future to wear this t-shirt when I am going on other cruise lines.
DAM good ship
I was "mission control" of totally four ...
This was my 6th or 7th cruise, and my third with Holland America (prior 2 were to Alaska). This cruise left from Rotterdam for one week in the Norwegian fjords. A good friend, who had only previously cruised on small expeditionary ships joined us as I told her how satisfied I had been with Holland America in the past. To say I was embarrased by Holland America this time is a vast understatement. ...
Chaos at Rotterdam Cruise Terminal As a loyal HAL cruise guest (this was cruise # 6 this year and all on HAL) I am very disappointed in my most recent experience with their cruise to Norway on the Westerdam. This itinerary was a classic case of ongoing small details adding up to a very mediocre cruise experience. The worst experience happened on the day of embarkation. Rotterdam cruise terminal ...
This was our first European cruise and I must say, it was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to see so many countries in a short period of time.
I had originally booked an outside cabin, obstructed view. Imagine my surprise when we checked it to find out we had been upgraded to a Verandah Suite cabin....what an upgrade! We thoroughly enjoyed having the bigger common area, bathroom, and ...
