This was our first cruise, so we started with a big one. First about the ship; it was the perfect size for us. We were not traveling with children, so we were not concerned about having a lot of high-energy activities on board. There were plenty of things to do onboard during sea days, and of course the main thing was to be out on the decks enjoying the beauty of Alaska.

This was the last of off a series of cruises that took us from SE Asia to Seattle. And it was the most enjoyable one!
The ship is old, but still very nice and comfortable and tech friendly. Wifi worked great, the App was useful and did have a good chat function. The cabin was spacious and well equipped. But we did have some issues with the TV remote and changing batteries did not help.

The Westerdam is one of our favorite ships. This was our 4th time on the Westerdam, and 1st time on the Alaskan itinerary with HAL. We chose this itinerary for several reasons. We sailed in two veranda staterooms 4132 port and 4133 starboard on the September 10th. It was nice to be able to move to the side of the ship with the wildlife sightings or the view. My husband, 30ish daughter and I really enjoyed the excellent service.
I am just going to cut to the chase with the bad and good.

I know so many people always complain about Holland America about having low energy, geared to older people, not enough activities, etc. however, I feel that there is a reason.
