Review for a Alaska Cruise on Westerdam

We sailed on the Westerdam June 12-19 as part of a 13 person family trip. Here is a summary and highlights / lowlights: We are a couple in late 50’s with 2 of our kids (30, 27) and one of their spouses with us. Embarkation was at pier 91 in Seattle and was terrible. Despite doing verifly app, Canada app, doing pre-Covid test appropriately and completing Navigator app, Holland really ...

We had never cruised before. This was a new experience for us and every person we spoke to stated how wonderful it was. The room was small we had an interior on deck 7. Food was very good. We did not have issue at onboarding but tip for newbies, if it says you can board at 1pm don't wait that long we got there at 11am and it was full on its way to boarding. We got Verify done but the Arrive Can ...

The cruise got off to a rocky start before we even embarked. Holland canceled the cruise we booked and put us on a different ship with a new departure date necessitating a change in our pre cruise stay and dining reservations. Soon after departing Seattle at the start of the cruise a passenger had a medical emergency which delayed arrival at our first port of call which resulted in a lot of ...

We selected this cruise based on the itinerary (ports) as well as cabin availability. This was also a last minute booking which was finalized only 6 weeks ago. We were reluctant to cruise on ships offering "unlimited alcohol" etc. It is true Holland America may be considered a little older in age range of the passengers, however there were plenty of younger aged passengers enjoying themselves and ...

My wife and myself have cruised six time on Holland and never had a problem, But this cruise was REALLY bad!! The offer on the cost of the cruise was good but we signed up for the orange card, You were to receive priority boarding, Never happened. We stood in line for 3 hours, No body at the dock new a thing about the program. We finally boarded and went right to our cabin, My wife's cousin was in ...

My husband and I chose this cruise to mark one of our dreams off our bucket list. We are in our late 50s and definitely felt like youngsters on this cruise. The service was fantastic and our Veranda room was nice. Food was the same inside the "buffet" as the dining room. Every day it was nearly the exact same menu with the exception of meats, soups and desserts. Delicious egg rolls and chicken ...

Most of the staff is very kind on a regular base. When it comes to complaints at the front desk (disputing charges for excursions we did not book and participate) staff appears to be stressed and less friendly. Food in the main restaurant was good, but spare ribs could not be cut or chewed from the bones. The navigator app did not always work when mostly needed to show room key barcode, ...

A great cruise , Service a five, entertainment a five,, food a four but there was no need for the rolling on the inside passage. It seems they’re trying to save some money on fuel and both my friend and my wife were slightly seasick because of it. they did a very good job except for embarkation and their screwup‘s with VeriFLY which they were using for the first time and resulted in long lines. I ...

I had recently taken a cruise up the coast of California on the Celebrity Summit. It appeared that they had cut corners on food, cabin fitness, staffing and all aspects of the experience. More cost, much less given. Not so for the Eurodam !. Fabulous service, amazing food and variety, great logistics for embarkation and debarkation. (word to the wise, if check in begins at noon, come two hours ...
