We just returned from a 7-day Alaska cruise and were very satisfied with the experience. Our party was made up of two adults and our daughter in a wheelchair.
We arrived the night before and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Renton. The price was under $60 and the room was quite nice. We arrived late and left the next morning so our impressions were limited. They did charge $12 for ...
For a bit of context, my wife and I have been on 12 cruises and this was our first time with Holland. We have cruised with Princess and Royal and once each with Celebrity and Carnival. I think we have developed a pretty decent perspective on cruising over the years and before we cruised with HAL my perception was that HAL was likely a 3.5 star cruise experience compared to Carnival at 2.0 , ...
There is a reason I don't drink alcohol, I don't like the hangover the next day. If there is a reason I don't like cruising, it is because the feeling I had after leaving the ship.
I drove home after the cruise and was struck by the rudeness of other drivers on the road. Where was the politeness that I experienced for a week? I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with airport TSA.
When I got ...
Spending winters 20 minutes away from Port Everglades has enabled me to take many last minute cruises at very attractive prices. Call me on Wednesday and tell me there is an opening for a Saturday departure and I'm there!
At the urging of several friends who still are tied to a work schedule and who wanted to join me on one of these cruises, I planned an Eastern Caribbean cruise on Holland ...
Background: My husband and I (Forty-something) took my in-laws (Seventies)on an Alaskan Cruise for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We sailed round trip to Seattle and stopped in Glacier Bay, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchican and Victoria, BC.
We Flew into Seattle on Friday and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Lake Union. It was an average hotel. Very clean. My in-laws could not walk very far so ...
Pre-Cruise: Flew in on Thursday afternoon and got to enjoy some truly amazing weather in Seattle along with some of Seattle's sites. We stayed at The Paramount, which was great. It was reasonably priced (given its location) and is close to all of Seattle's attractions downtown.
Embarkation: We pulled up to Pier 91, a porter helped us with our luggage and within 25 minutes we were boarding the ...
I have been on numerous cruises and have enjoyed Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Disney (Disney is not recommended by me). This was my first Holland America Cruise. Overall we had a wonderful vacation and I would recommend HAL and the Oosterdam. Alaska was truly magnificent! Such Beauty! If you have never been, you should go!
Embarkation:
Smooth! There were long lineups but everyone just ...
This was our first cruise of any type and, thanks to the many posts that we read here on these forums, we feel that we had as good a preparation as any first-timer could have wanted.Instead of a day-by-day, blow-by-blow recap of our experience, we'd like to offer some insights and tips that developed from other cruisers:• It was a wonderful experience, but it's a "bucket list" item for us. We're ...
This was our very first cruise. Went to Alaska in September on the last cruise of the season. While the weather was cold and rainy, and seas were very stormy, we still enjoyed every minute of this trip. We chose HAL based on comments here on CC regarding their service and food and we were not disappointed.
I wanted to clarify one subject. Previous posters have said the ship is worn out and ...
We just got home from a 7 day cruise to Alaska aboard the Westerdam. We had a great time! We had a few problems, that really need to be addressed by Holland, but all in all we were happy with this cruise.
EMBARKATION AND DEBARKATION: Embarkation was a little slow, but we had a Suite so our line went very quickly. The only problem is there is no signage to let you know you don't have to wait ...
