First and Last HAL Cruise. Awful!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Koningsdam

We were handed beepers our first three dinners because the dining room was too full and had to wait for 45 minutes...it felt like we were at a Chili's or something... Not a good first impression The food is pretentious and portions are very small. The Lido deck is not a buffet and you are forced to ask someone to plate your food for you. This causes lines and long waits for something as ...

No one told me it would be impossible to change large Euro notes. Guest services warns against taking large notes on tour excursions yet refused to change my 200 Euro note so I could have smaller notes. The person at guest services went to plead my case to the purser. The purser opened the door, looked at me from the doorway, then went back in and the guest services person returned to say the ...

This cruise had a good itinerary. We stayed for 3 days in Rome, it was a disgrace, with rubbish piled up in the streets everywhere. Embarkation was very efficient. However, the entertainmemt is very poor. There is no orchestra, no big dance productions, just 6 ballet style dancers. hALmust be cost cutting. There was no library. BB Kings played the same music every night. The Lido buffet ...

This was my first cruise and the third for my wife, although it was more than 30 years ago. It was at a friends couple’s suggestion to join them on this cruise and we took the opportunity to celebrate my wife’s retirement, birthday and 25th year of life together. It was not our friends first cruise with Holland America and we felt reassured it would be a carefree cruise. We had read a lot of ...

This is our third cruise. We sailed with Raphosy of the seas and celebrity reflection both were really good and far superior to westredam in any aspect. The Celebrity was the best. We are not fussy in any sense and don't mind if things are not perfect but this was just a poor experience. And the sad things is it cost us more than the celebrity cruise. We paid quite a lot of money for this cruise ...

Cabin and ship very poor, In the morning you do not even get a pot of tea and a freshly baked hard roll. In every port the worst berths, not a single time a transfer to the city for travelers who even go on a sightseeing tour. It is the by far bad ship with which I have ever taken. Complaints are accepted and one is friendly, but absolutely nothing is done. Every 10 meters on the corridors a ...

Chose this to experience the new ship and compare it to my other cruises on many Dam ships Found great innovation and excellent additions such as the Queens Lounge amd the extra restaurants and speciallynthe New York Deli and superb service from Reggie ! Nice afternoon teas similar to Cunard, though with only occasionally music and the BBKing at night featured great singers, but the sound ...

I chose this cruise for its destinations. Overall the cruise was OK but there were some issues including the cabin which review follows. The Lido Buffet was always crowded and rarely were both sides open and there was no crossover so you were always hunting for the limited seating. Only two flavors of ice cream! They charge for gelato! What! Some of the servers in the Lido and ...

First Holland America cruise was Alaska landsea and it is wonderful. This cruise was NOT. No laundry facilities. They give you a tiny bag you fill and they wash/dry for $30.00. Daily Hotel Charges PER person. Could not dock in Italy due to high winds. NO consolation except a free glass of Champagne at dinner. Had a private excursion booked. Lost my money as Get your Guide said too ...

Worse Cruise Ever

My wife and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary this year and to celebrate it, we spent time saving up for a trip that would be truly special, and above and beyond a standard cruising experience. We chose this ship because it was the Christening cruise and that was a unique opportunity, but also because of how the ship was marketed to us in terms of the experience that we would have on board. Even ...
