We came from New Zealand (7 of us - all adults) and boarded the cruise ship in Rome. The process was straight forward and ran smoothly, the staff were both welcoming and very helpful. MS Koningsdam - A Review
I cruised Koningsdam for 24 days from 10/18/2018 to 11/11/2018. She is about 2 years old and appears to be in very good physical condition and is well maintained. That said, Koningsdam is a mixed bag of good, bad and ugly...in this writer's experienced opinion.

This is my 27 cruise. My third on HAL. We chose this cruise for the great itinerary and Koningsdam being a fairly new ship. The experience was wonderful.

We only took the 10 day cruise r/t Rome to Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu, Olympia, Athens, Santorini and Naples. We did not said back to Florida. We had a most enjoyable cruise on the Koningsdam, I would highly recommend visiting Europe in October as the crowds are less and the temperatures more enjoyable. A port-intensive cruise we only had two sea days to explore the ship. It is obviously in very good shape considering it is only a year old. Koningsdam suited us perfectly. We’d a private transfer from the airport to the ship which took about 50 minutes. Embarkation was easy and our luggage didn’t take long to arrive.

We embarked for our cruise in Civitavecchia on 9/28/18. We flew into Rome that morning and used Holland America's transfer to get to the port. We were very happy we opted for the transfer with Holland America, simply for ease of use. We arrived 4 days earlier in Amsterdam and flew to Rome from Amsterdam on a morning Easyjet flight.
