We chose this cruise for convenience. Direct flights from Vancouver, British Columbia, been to all the ports so not worried if ship was denied docking, familiar with Holland America historical “no touch” buffet. It ticked our boxes including vaccination requirements. We enjoyed our cruise but there is definitely a difference in what a British Columbian thinks are safe Covid protocols and what was ...
We took this holiday cruise with my elderly parents both of whom were using scooters while onboard. The crew was wonderful and can't say enough good things about our dinning room waiter and his assistant. We were disappointed in the lack of holiday festivities onboard during the cruise as there was 1 deck party during the entire cruise on New Years Eve but nothing on Christmas Eve. My biggest ...
We packed for the Mexican west coast destinations. I even checked the weather in each port beforehand.
What I didn't expect, nor was I advised by Holland America is their policy on the current Covid outbreak.
They did not test daily (as did Viking 2 months beforehand), but did require the negative Covid 48 hour testing before boarding.
Their idea was to keep public areas, hallways, ...
This was our first Holland America cruise after going on 5 Carnivals and 1 Royal Caribbean. Immediately, I noticed a beautiful and super clean ship that smelled fresh upon boarding. Fresh flowers and smiling, warm faces greeted us.
Embarkation was almost painless and took about 15 minutes total. Super friendly staff. We arrived about an hour before our assigned time and were on the ship ...
We received a great deal on a Christmas cruise r/t San Diego. We stayed in an obstructed balcony cabin and had no problems due to the obstruction. It is still a very nice view. Our beds were comfortable and there is a nice (though small) shower in the nice (though small) bathroom. This was a Christmas cruise, so perhaps that is why Holland served lobster on the final formal night. It is true ...
Embarkation:
The Eurodam was the only cruise vessel in FLL port with passengers. (Noordam was docked but with no passengers.) We were informed that the ship would only have 905 passengers on this sailing (43% of full double occupancy passenger capacity!), so embarkation was a breeze. First (hopefully) post-COVID cruise.
We had our doubts over continuous pre-cruise emails from HAL ...
We decided to do a quick trip down to San Diego and hop on the Koningsdam for a 7 day getaway.
First off - we spent a couple days in San Diego before the cruise and had a great time. We would highly recommend Solunto in little Italy. It was so good on the first night that we came back for second night.
The USS Midway did not disappoint - we spent hours there.
The cruise itself only had ...
Our group of 17 had a delightful cruise aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam last week.
The ship was very clean and well maintained. I had been on her before and knew I was a fan, and this trip confirmed it. Easy layout and just the right size. There are some places with wear, but nothing major (the old carpet in the spa area comes to mind). The ship was less than half full, and boy does this spoil you! ...
We originally booked this pre-covid and have deferred or been postponed ever since.
Finally left on December 11th. The original ports of call had been re-arranged so St Thomas was out and the Dominican Republic was in
The passenger count was in the high 800's (we heard several different numbers) on a ship that holds 1900.
We had the usual battle for a table for two Which always ...
We took this cruise because it went to the Panama Canal as opposed to simply Caribbean islands.
The music was great. The food was wonderful at the Speciality restaurants, especially the Tamarind.. we went twice! The staff is extraordinary in customer service.
My only complaint was there was a sewer odor on the main entertainment deck #2 which you encountered during the entire cruise for ...
