We're 3-Star Mariners. Probably would've been 4-Star by now, but for Covid. This was our first cruise in 4 years, aboard one of our favourite ships, the NA. We had grown accustomed to the wonderful HAL service (great crew), fine cuisine, enjoyable entertainment, and superb efficiency.
The good: the staff - cabin stewards, dining room, buffet. un-endingly cheerful and accommodating. HAL nails ...
We have been on this ship once before on a land and sea trip to Alaska in 2019. We didn't get to spend much time on the ship so we thought we would do it again on the 7-day Southern Carribean. Although our itinerary was changed a few times we didn't mind because we love sea days. The weather was beautiful.
The service was outstanding. All of the servers remembered our names and treated us ...
Chose this cruise as we wanted to try Holland America and the itinerary included Bonaire where we have never been. Sadly, three days prior to the embarkation Bonaire was cancelled. We departed Port Everglades and made our way to Half Moon Cay. Unfortunately, the seas were to rough for the tenders so that stop was out. The captain said that we would be going to Aruba (not a scheduled stop) ...
Over 25 cruises, several on HAL. We find the HAL product much diminished. Menus downgraded, although the food was better than an October cruise. Same menu every sea day for lunch. Almost every beef dish, including potroast, very tough, even in the Pinnacle. Entertainment was good and bad. Comedians performed in the BBKing's. You had to get there an hour before to get a seat. On our 10 ...
My friend and I were on Rotterdam last February and loved it. We want the "mature" passengers of Holland so this itinerary looked perfect for this year's birthday cruise.
We originally booked a verandah on deck 4. We were offered an upgrade about 3 weeks out which we did not take, again the next week, and finally we were offered a third upgrade and we took it ($559 per person to upgrade to a ...
Hi from Oregon. We are a 4-star and just completed this cruise. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Old Town. It has airport/port shuttle and full breakfast. If you don't like sea days this is not a cruise for you. I happen to love them so it's fine for me. We were in a Vista Suite on the aft. Lots of walking so you'll get your steps in. After we disembarked in San Diego the ship came up to ...
Left late
Waiting hours for dinners
Rude Hawaii guy
A big sales pitch
Late to first port causing us to miss excursion
Same food over and over
Insulting comedians
Nothing to do on the way back
Running out of stuff
No room people everywhere overcrowded
People holding reserving places with one person for ten or 12 people so you can’t find a place to sit for ...
2600 passengers was for me, too many. There were lines from time to time especially in the Lido Market.
The worst part was that many people were coughing, some constantly. Of course, few people get tested because they do not want to be quarantined in their cabin.
However, I was not feeling well, got tested and got covid. I was therefore, quarantined to the cabin for the last three days ...
Chose this cruise for the itinerary but loved it. Definitely an older person cruise. We were a group of 30-40 to with a toddler (one of 3 onboard) and even without the toddler were half the average age. We loved the ports. Cartegena had lovely zoo and we had a good time on our excursions. We had a beautiful balcony. Food was excellent. The pizza and burger quick service was outstanding. At the ...
We wanted to experience the Panama Canal and my travel agent suggested Holland America (HAL). Our previous cruises had been on Regent, Celebrity, and Crystal and it seemed like a good fit. Don't get me wrong, we had a really good time, but there were some things about the cruise, and HAL's policies, that subtract from the experience. Our cabin needed a serious upgrade as the carpet was completely ...
