14 Day Panama Bucket List, San Diego to Ft Lauderdale
I have sailed 7x on HAL, and first time on this ship. I will say, I don’t think I will sail on this particular one ever again unless it goes on a refit.
The best thing about the trip was our cabin Stu, he was by himself and we were deck 5 aft verandah (perfect spot for Panama Canal trip) they say stern (no rooms) or aft is the place to ...
We came back to HAL after a five year absence when they offered a great casino rate for a Panama Canal cruise which had been on our "someday" list for a long time. Eurodam fits through the old locks on the canal, which makes for a more interesting transit. We kicked in for the Club Orange to let us choose one of the CQ cabins in front on deck 10 instead of the guarantee oceanview in the base ...
Holland America use to have the best service and food that you could want. It has been downgraded so much it is sad. Now only the service remains a plus. That is by the crew, not necessarily the officers. The food is mediocre, the organization is lacking and just about everything has been downgraded. I am a 4 star mariner and have happily cruised many times with Holland America. It is sad to ...
As a three-star Mariner, I was really looking forward to my first post-Covid journey ... 20 days, from Vancouver BC through the Panama Canal to Fort Lauderdale ...but this is the lowest rating I have ever given a HAL cruise.
The Eurodam is a beautiful, subdued-toned traditional cruise ship, with comfortably furnished public areas and lounges : the garish neon reserved for the casino. There are ...
We have sailed many times with HAL as well as other lines from Regent and Crystal to NCL and Carnival. HAL has always offered large suites at reasonable cost, but this cruise showed they are cutting corners everywhere. Some examples: Lunch menu in dining room never changes. Dinner there has a very limited menu with changes: additional charges for many items, e.g., shrimp cocktail now $8.50 ...
This was my retirement cruise, 14 day Panama Canal full transit Fort Lauderdale to San Diego, my 4th cruise on Holland America and 9th overall.
The crew were fantastic, constant cleaning going on, wait staff very friendly and attentive. Ship was in good shape, having retired from a engineering position, where I was involved with some equipment reviews I noticed a couple of items that needed ...
First cruise on Holland America but 20th cruise overall. Wanted to see the Panama Canal and we selected Zuiderdam. I have avoided HAL for years and confirmed that this is not the cruise line for me.
Embarkation went very smoothly in Ft. Lauderdale. Ship is older and smaller than what we have sailed on recently but it is in very good condition. The ship has three sets of elevators where ...
We've cruised with Holland America at least 4 times and chose them because of their excellent service. This cruise stopped at their private island first, then Grand Turks, Amber Cove and Key West. The service was excellent, as usual, and the food was good. The entertainment, however, was sorely lacking. The first night, there was no show in the main stage area. For 6 nights, the main entertainment ...
Friends had enjoyed HAL before, as had we 11 years ago, over the past two years. However we found that we were slightly disappointed overall. First impressions of the cabin, and indeed the ship, were that it was in need of a refurbishment. The cabin carpet was sorely in need of replacement, and indeed looked grubby. No slippers were provided which would have been nice. Cabin had adequate hanging ...
We wanted a cruise where we didn’t have airfare to contend with. We can drive from Phoenix to San Diego, leave our car in a hotel that stores it for free, and take the free shuttle from the Best Western Yacht Harbor ($137 a night) to the cruise port. Perfect. This was only seven days but it only cost $1249 so we were very happy with that part of it.
We love absolutely everything about this ship ...
