20 day transit from Vancouver to Ft. Lauderdale through the Panama Canal. This was our 30th HAL cruise, we are both 5 star mariners. Neptune Suite. Our boarding time was 10:00 am (priority boarding for Neptune Suite guests). We got to the Vancouver terminal at 10 am. Waited about 30 minutes before baggage screening opened. Ushered to another waiting area where we waited another 30 ...

Charged for mini bar which we did NOT use

The thing that topped off and overall bad cruise was a bogus charge of $70.21 for the use of our mini bar which we did not use. We attempted to have this charge reversed via our credit card company but HAL responded saying the the mini bar was not included in our drink package. Overall there were too many people on the cruise which made for a feeding frenzy at each and every meal. There was a ...

A cruise ship that should be on DRY DOCK; THE CRUISE FROM HELL

My wife and I thought Holland America was a step above and tried the Panama cruise. First the ship is in disrepair ie: broken windows, window seal deteriorated causing windows to fog in main dining room, burnt out bulbs throughout especially at the elevators and Old wooden deck chairs on deck three of which 50 percent were broken. Attitude of the Hotel manager was not his problem. Staff throughout ...

Almost 30 days of cold dining

The ports were new to us and the timing worked so we chose the 30-day Incan Empire Voyage. Embarkation was OK, we heard later this year the ship will be under review as to updates. Cabin fine, but the tiny TV and limited channels was annoying when in quarantine. Staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment seems to have improved, enjoyed most of the comedians, but music still too loud. Good ...

We heard that holland was the finest cruise line with the best destinations Room staff were excellent! Food quality was good, but slightly on the exquisite side, that being said it was presented extremely poor, cold food was served hot and hot food was served cold, wait staffed in fine dining was short on staff causing poor service, I don’t blame servers I blame mgt. several nights at dinner ...

10 day Panama Canal cruise Good: - Housekeeping services. Cordial and kept the room clean and neat. Every time we came back to the room, the bed was made. Every evening they left a nice towel animal. - Ice cream. The ice cream staff is very friendly, and they offer a good selection of ice creams and toppings. - French Fries. They are crispy and freshly cooked. Sadly, this was the ...

We chose this Panama Canal cruise because it traversed the "Old Gatun Locks" and were able to get an aft balcony cabin. Here is our honest review: REVIEW 10 Day Sunfarer Cruise Zuiderdam, Holland America Line January 7 to 17, 2018 EMBARKATION: Well organized. After waiting in line, there are plenty of seats to await being called to embark. Total process about 1 ½ hours. ...

Holland America Panama Canal Cruise - Disappointing...

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Westerdam

We chose this cruise primarily based on timing and the beginning/end points. Less on the cruise line. Holland America met our needs for our criteria. In spite of all that we'd heard about HAL catering mostly to elderly clients, we signed up for a 15 day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to San Diego. Leaving Ft. Lauderdale, our first stop was Half Moon Cay. Overall, less touristy and was fine for the ...

We discussed it and its disgusting...

We choose this cruise for its itinerary and went as a large group of friends and couples. Everyone observed the ship's poor condition; filthy deck chairs, worn-out brown carpeting, rusting rails, stains on every cushion, it was just plain disgusting down to the hairs we found in our dining napkins. The Zuiderdam should be scrapped as there seems little that is salvageable. Even the pool deck ...

This review is not just my opinion, but also the observations of the other four people I was traveling with. First, this ship needs a major update. The carpet in one of our rooms was so worn, it looked like two different rug patterns. There are no message lights on the phones to let you know when you have one. Other than the main theater, all the entertainment venues are too small for the ...
