We chose this cruise because it fit in with other travel plans and we wanted to experience a Holland ship. Overall we had a relaxing time and would recommend.
Embarkation was reasonable, but there was a moderate wait for getting through customs and a holding room for getting on the ship. Overall it took about an hour and a half from entering the port to entering the ship (finished around ...
We booked the 6 Day Wine Country & Pacific Northwest Cruise on Noordam (Neptune Suite 7081) immediately following the 14-Day Great Alaskan Explorer which we took in Noordam’s Neptune Suite 7088. One plus of this cruise, it allowed us (as US citizens) to avoid flying on an "international flight" - flying out of San Diego rather than Vancouver.
Originally, we had booked these two cruises in an ...
Health:
Two old ladies went on this cruise and had a great vacation! We are seniors and my friend's husband attended a family wedding on the other side of the country while we sailed the seas. We were concerned about CoVid but decided to trust HAL's commitment to health. We were not disappointed. We wore our masks throughout the cruise, everywhere, except when eating, drinking or in our ...
e had boarding in San Diego. I did all the pre boarding requirements on the HAL website and on VeriFLY. Our boarding pass said that a REAL ID-compliant driver's license was ok BUT the dock personnel did not seem to know that, we got shuffled over to another area and were finally told it was ok and we were allowed onboard.
The Koningsdam is a nice ship and seemed to be very clean. We got to our ...
We are cruisers and were anxious to get back to the seas so we booked the first two itineraries being offered on the Koningsdam in October out of San Diego. The first week was the California coast and the second week was Mexico. This was our third cruise on the Koningsdam and our 10th and 11th HAL cruise. It was nice to know that all passengers had to be fully vaccinated and present a negative ...
We were skeptical about cruising on the Konigsdam.
This was our twelfth cruise on Holland America and we tend to enjoy the smaller ships (e.g., Zaandam, Westerdam) more than Holland’s larger ships. (Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam). However, when the September cruise we had booked on the Zuiderdam was cancelled, we chose the same itinerary on the Konigsdam. We were pleasantly surprised with the ship ...
I wanted to try a 1 day cruise and it was really more work getting packed and it was over the moment I woke up. However we did upgrade to the Pinnacle Suite which was a lot of fun, and fairly affordable considering this was only one night. The golden marble in the bathroom was beautiful and it is much more tasteful than the newer HAL Pinnacle Suites, however the furniture is silly and the shower ...

We enjoyed the whole cruise experience on Noordam -HAL, cruise for 15 days over the Christmas New Year period. It was good value for money compared to other cruise line offerings for the same period. We have cruised with HAL many times and are now nearing the achievement of 4 star Mariner status. The ports on this cruise were in some cases a repeat of the 2016-2017 Christmas-new Year cruise. We ...
We wanted a short break so sailed from Vancouver to San Diego. We arrived into the bus-train station and used the nearby Skytrain to get to Canada Place, which was very easy to use and inexpensive. We checked in at 1:00 and had no wait to check in or go through customs although the NA was the only ship in port that day.
We enjoyed the small port of Astoria, where we used the antique tram. In ...
