We have taken approximately 25 cruises over the past six years on Celebrity, Princess and Royal Caribbean. This was our first HAL cruise. We selected Koningsdam for the itinerary and that this is the flagship of HAL. We traveled in a balcony stateroom. The ports of call and the scenic cruising were all wonderful. The ship is beautiful. Overall was a great Cruise for us - Myself, wife and a 7 year old. This was our first time on HAL ( after several cruises with Princess, Royal Caribbean and Carnival ). Overall a great cruise. Excellent food, entertainment and service. Details and some nitpicks below.

Just finishing up a one week cruise from Amsterdam to the fjords of Norway on the Koningsdam. We had a marvelous time, blessed with calm seas and (unusually) nice weather. Never opened an umbrella all week, although it was misty and cloudy in Bergen, as expected (less than 50 days of sun a year).

Just returned from the Viking Saga seven day cruise to the fijords of Norway. It was a getaway for me and my daughters. None of us had been to Norway, we only had one week, and I was curious to see the Koningsdam, so it was the perfect choice. We all give the ship high marks.

This was a cruise up the Fiords, which was very colourful.
Food excellent - such dept of quality and choice. Ship amazing. Amazing pools The staff were so very polite yet on the last morning , as we were disembarking they could not care a less............ I guess they had their gratuities and there was no incentive nor nothing more to gain or impress.

We had not sailed Holland for several years. I feel that the clientele has moved to a much older crowd. Many guests on walkers, wheelchairs etc. My biggest disappointment was the itinerary during the day. There was nothing to do. No karaoke, no dance classes, nothing to fill the time if you decided to stay on the ship. Holland may do this intentionally in order to sell excursions. However, ...

We chose this cruise to experience a little of Norway and her peoples, also an opportunity to cruise with my parents.
We have been on the Rotterdam and Oosterdam before with HAL. Koningsdam is very stylish, but the red, silver & gold decor can seem a bit garish. It must be one of their bigger ships, but it's not better, overall. In fact, we felt quite crowded at times.
