Montreal to Ft Lauderdale. Had a great time. Quick and easy embarkation in Montreal staying at the Springhill Old Montreal which is perfectly located near all Old Montreal highlights. The service on board was wonderful. We liked the MDR and Lido buffet. Mixed reviews on the specialty dining by our group. Entertainment was great including the band, piano bar player, dancers, singing group, ...

Getting to Montreal was a challenge. When we woke up at 2am we discovered that our 7pm flight was cancelled. We were rescheduled to different flights that too were cancelled. After a couple of calls we were booked on a flight to Montreal with a layover in Halifax. Eventually we landed in Montreal around 11 pm. We booked hotel and transfers through HAL and I notified them of our new flights and ...

The reason for this rather cryptic title will become apparent as you read the narrative. We had two reasons for taking this trip from Montreal to Boston. First of all we have always wanted to visit L’Anse aux Meadows, and secondly because we had sailed on the Zaandam around Cape Horn in 2018, and really enjoyed the ambience of a smaller cruise ship, despite a serious problem. Generally speaking ...

Mixed Bag for a Major Birthday

I picked this cruise because it was close to (but not on or over) a milestone birthday for me, fit timing requirements, and allowed me to share my favorite part of the world with my significant other. The cruise was to begin in Montreal, with stops in Quebec, Baie-Comeau, Harve-Saint-Pierre, Corner Brook, St. Anthony, St. John's, Halifax, and Bar Harbor, before finishing in Boston. This was ...

Went on the Canada 7 night cruise out of Montréal to Boston. Took our family of 4 (kids age 8 and 10), and brother and wife. I had done research and knew this was not a “in your face” entertainment cruise but was laid back sailing on a smaller ship with plenty of room to spare. There is no band by the pool and the entertainment on the world stage is pretty … meh. The cabins were standard size, ...

Overall, I would give HAL and 8/10 and would definitely consider them again if they had better solo cruiser participation.

The room was spacious and clean. The ship was refurbished in 2018 and is in very good shape. The public areas are very clean and well maintained. The staff is good and efficient. There was a good selection of on-board activities. The food in the main dining room was not up to what I experienced on my last HAL cruise. I did dine at the specialty restaurant the Canaletto Restaurant. I had the Osco ...

Taking a Canada/New England Cruise has been on our bucket list and we combined this with a celebration of a major birthday. We started on our own in Niagara falls, then spent a few days in Montreal. I would highly recommend spending some time in Niagara Falls and Montreal prior or after a CA/NE cruise! Hotel pre-cruise recommendations (Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview, Le Centre Sheraton ...

Weather as expected, cool & rainy, but it was great weather for reading a book and watching the scenery go by. We did this cruise the first time in 2014 and thought it would be fun to do again...and it was. Biggest change is Canada has now restricted speed to 10 knots an hour to protect whales in area. We thought this was a great change although it did cut time in port by an hour to several in ...

This was our first time cruising on Holland America (HAL), we usually cruise on NCL & we chose the ship because it sailed further upriver on the St.Lawrence. While smaller than the smallest of Norwegian ships, the Zaandam carries only 1,432 passengers compared to our favourite ship, the Gem which carries 2,394 passengers. The demographic of the passengers was also much older than NCL ships, with ...

We loved most of the ports especially PEW. The staff went out of their way to make my 50th birthday cruise special. I received a decorated cupcake in my room, a birthday cake for our table at dinner and $50 each for my husband and I to use at the spa. I have made a vlog about it on youtube on my channel iheartnationalparks. We loved Montreal and Quebec and PEI the best. Boston was good and I ...
