Review for a South America Cruise on Zaandam

What a delightful cruise. Excellent crew/staff on the cruise ship, wonderful excursions. The ship was small and ready for a refurb, but it made good use of the space. I highly recommend Alligators by Night and Rubber Planation and Indigenous Village in Manaus, as well as Piranha Fishing in Santarem. Trinidad was a great port, the friendliest one we visited in Caribean. Tamarind pop-up ...

Great Itinerary for Panama Canal and South America

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Oosterdam

We choose this cruise for the itinerary. We had previously been on the Oosterdam and like this size ship. One thing to know about South America, is that most of the ports are industrial ports and require a shuttle to the cruise port entrance for any independent tours and in Buenos Aires, all passengers including those on Holland America Tours. Just keep this in mind when choosing the starting ...

This was a good itinerary, combining two cruises to sail through the Panama Canal, see the west coast of South America, round Cape Horn and visit the Falkland Islands before ending in Buenos Aires. I hadn’t sailed with Holland America before, but they came highly recommended by several friends so I was expecting it to be at least on a par, or better than, Celebrity. Sadly not so. Veteran HAL ...

Ship good, a little short on crew, 3rd world excursions somewhat of a trial

Review for a South America Cruise on Oosterdam

My wife and I wanted to go thru the Panama Panel, and see Macho Picchu, which this cruise covered nicely. Missed the political upheaval in Peru by about 2 wks, so lucky there. Traveling to 3rd world countries, Ecuador and Peru, is always a worry, so we had purchased a Medjet membership for the voyage, plus the optional extraction for political upheaval. Fortunately we didn't have to use, but ...

We had planned this trip for several months then, the night before we were to leave, COVID started shut everything down(1999). We had been waiting for this trip to reappear on Holland's schedule, we were very excited that it was finally happening! (Nov. 19, 2022). We had cruised with Holland 3 previous times and had been satisfied with our trips. Let me begin by saying the crew/staff were for ...

Lovely Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Zuiderdam

This was our second cruise with HAL. Although the Zuiderdam is showing her age in places, overall we had no complaints. Everything was clean and sparking and worked very well. Our room (1052) was extremely comfortable (although the bed took up two thirds of the room)! The room was cleaned beautifully and was quiet and warm or cool when necessary. The bathroom was clean and we had a bath with a ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam

We has been cruise for more than 10 times in difference cruise lines, this is our first long Transatlantic cruise, 26 days, from Miami to Venice. On this cruise, everything's meet the standards of the other cruise lines (not the exclusive cruise lines). We are very easy going couple, we are not picky. But in this cruise, for 26 days we had a lot of times to talk to the other passengers and every ...

EVERY HOLLAND AMERICA CRUISE GETS WORSE

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Westerdam

I've watched the quality and integrity of Holland America decline dramatically over the years, and it's a sad thing to see. Their latest gimmick is to hold cruise fares down as much as possible while compromising quality in hopes that no one notices. In order to do that and still operate the fleet, they've turned over control of the cruise line to their accountants in Miami and their bosses at ...

This was our honeymoon, so my generally frugal husband and I decided to splurge on a verandah room. When we arrived in our cabin after a gloriously simple embarkation, we were disappointed to find that our cabin on the observation deck did not have a full verandah, but a little half circle that had no chairs, etc. Just when I was beginning to get annoyed, our delightful cabin steward came in to ...
