Late offering where and when we wanted to go, seemed like a winner, but food options not fitting our schedule. Formal dining each night at 8 pm was fabulous but prevented time to get to a y shows.
And the lido banquet closed completely each morning for way too long, and long lines late morning at other food places made it tough for us to get a bit of breakfast.
Ludo buffet always had a sign ...
We chose this cruise for its length, reasonable price and nice itinerary. Generally, we were quite satisfied with the cruise. Of course there are always irritating issues on any voyage – in our case our television broke and the guest services staff noted that it could not be repaired or replaced. We requested Wi-Fi access so we could check the news the stock market. We were told this was not ...
I am positively sure that reading a review is one of the last things you would like to do, am I right? The experience we all are going through nowadays is very discouraging to say the least, that's why we need some kind of entertainment to put our minds at peace and that's my goal in writing this review; I hope I'm able to accomplish it! Together let's make the best of it!
This 10 day cruise ...
Got a great discount for my casino play and we were offered Club Orange at half price on our 10 day Southern Carib. cruise. So we were very satisfied overall. Koningsdam is a beautiful ship - maybe the nicest of our 42 cruises on almost every cruise line. The food was as good as you expect on Holland. The staff always delightful and cheery. New York Deli whipped up some interesting breakfast ...
A group of 11 family and friends ranging in age from 60-80 decided to get together for a cruise. Holland America Koningsdam was chosen because 4 of the group who are experienced cruisers chose to try a different cruise line than they had travelled in the past and the rest of the group agreed to join them. All agreed that this was likely our first and last Holland America Cruise due to the lack of ...
At the start of this year, I left for The United States of America, to board the Koningsdam in Fort Lauderdale. Florida. I was excited! It was the first holiday without my parents present, and I was going far, far away. When I boarded the ship, I was flabbergasted. It was HUGE. And beautiful. In a couple of minutes I felt a sensation that I never ever sensed before. I felt like: this is where I ...
We are a couple in our mid 60s who decided to cruise after a 12 year hiatus. We liked the itinerary and got a good deal on the airfare even though it was Super Bowl Sunday morning. The embarkation was delayed due to some sanitation issues supposedly caused by an uptick Norovirus illness on the previous cruise. The boarding time varied depending on which HAL rep you spoke to, but after a lengthy ...
Boarding:
Not an ideal situation. The evening before our departure we received notice that due to norovirus our boarding would be delayed. Good news is we were getting a nice clean ship!
They did NOT, however, delay departure. So when we arrived, hours later than scheduled, we had a LONG, LONG, LONG, and hot line.
At least our room was ready when we got to the end of the line.
Short ...
We have been HAL fans; the Koningsdam was new to us. Let's begin with the big positive - she's a beautiful ship. The public rooms are really handsome and ooze old world elegance and warmth with occasional contemporary jolts. But lovely as she is at first she's not the easiest ship to navigate and it takes a little time to adjust to her layout especially as not all the upper desks are thru decks ...
After being on many Holland America cruises we decided to try the Koningsdam....Ship was nice.
After been told our cabin was big enough for 3 adults we booked it...Big mistake...The person on the sofa was 5"5...Her feet hung over edge. Very uncomfortable. When the crew turned down the "sofa" for the night you couldn't move anywhere. No access to the balcony unless you crawled over the ...
