Even better than the first time

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Koningsdam

We spent 22 nights from the 16th September on Koningsdam and this was even better than the first time we cruised on her back in September 2016. The food was amazing whether it was in Lido or the main dining room. Tamarind where there is a surcharge to eat once again exceeded our expectations. Crew was as usual on HAL ships incredible and the Captain very informative and funny. We love this ship, ...

I have been on PO, carnival, and celebrity. I wanted to try holland America. So the pros: 1. Ship ok, but very poorly designed. 2 Laundry cheap, photos cheap 3. Food was good 4 service ok, but Not great. 5 getting on and off ship easy 6 ship on time Cons Wow, where do i start: 1 smoking in casino and it spreads. Smoking outside in some public areas allowed. I found ...

We chose the cruise because the dates suited our vacation and because of the destinations. We boarded in Amsterdam and did the 12 days to Rome. The ship was very nice and the crew were great. I thought the main stage entertainment was a bit boring and wasn’t for us. I actually fell asleep in one of the shows, that’s how much I thought of it. The comedian Jo Little was good but her humour was ...

This is the largest ship of the fleet. It is too big, Lido restaruant has not enought seats at busy times. You have to line up many times to receive the food of your selection, all separate serving areas, your partner meanwhile is alone reserving your seat?? Night dining in the restarraunt is good with slow service but good food, average time is 1.5 to 2 hours. There are not enough ...

Beautiful Ship - Selling Machine!

We chose this particular cruise because of the various unique ports. Well, we obviously did not do our homework. Portland was Weymouth, Seville was hours away, as were Pisa and Florence and Rome from the ports. The excursion prices were outrageous. We met people that had paid just under $100 for shore excursions to the port towns that were walking back to the ship as the excursions were mostly ...

Disappointment on the Koningsdam

We take a spring and fall trans-Atlantic crossing every year and selected this sailing to try the new Pinnacle class ship. Summary: We found the Koningsdam to be too large. The ship is indeed beautiful, cabins are well appointed and public areas are spacious and modern. The Dutch Cafe is a nice addition. The downside is there are lines of everything on board, as well as for disembarking ...

We chose this 16-day Iberian cruise because the ship called on 13 different ports. We booked this back in May, so I had plenty of time to research everything and read every review, all 358, and really get a feel for what to expect. The first problem I had was with Cruise Critic's Excellent rating and the rating given by passengers. It didn't make sense until I started reading the ...

Big "but"

It was my first time on HAL and the first time on the Koningsdam. The ship is brand new which sums up all the positive points about the ship. There were two things that ruined everything for me. 1. There is no kettle in the room. A thing which one expects nowadays from every 3-star hotel and was provided in all the other cruise ships that we sailed. 2. Though the food in the Lido (as well ...

We chose the Koningsdam because of all the ports that we would be going to on the Iberian Peninsula. Out of the 16 night cruise we only had 3 sea days. Great opportunity to see all the amazing ports in Spain and Portugal. This was our first time on a Holland America Line ship and enjoyed every aspect of the Koningsdam very much. There was a lot of dining choices on board and the food was ...

We chose this cruise because of the cruise line, the ship and the itinerary. We had a wonderful cruise. The ship and the ports were exactly what we wanted. The crew was great and the food was fantastic. There was enough entertainment with plenty of choices. We really enjoyed the movies by the pool and the late night snacks. The casino had a few smoke free nights, which were ...
