We’re do I start, this our first cruise and our last with Holland America. First the good, outside cabin good with great steward; have it all package good value and Wi-Fi actually worked throughout the ship. Specially dining was excellent. Band in the rolling stone lounge excellent but that’s about it. Dining in the main venues was an experience to be missed. Lack of organisation and it appeared ...
We cruise a lot and travelled on the Holland America line before covid and it was fine. However this most recent trip was disappointing and an exercise in money-grabbing. The menu did not change the entire trip, that is to say French onion soup was the ONLY soup on offer for the duration - how difficult is it to make another type of soup? On the first day I asked for the herring but was told it ...
Visa Services: told to get a Chinese visa by Holland at a cost of $1000; ship offered them for free while underway. Guest Services barely apologized and offered no compensation. Excursions: over half the guides didn't speak English well enough to answer questions or give commentary, visited sites were repetitive and boring. It was clear Holland had done no quality control on their excursions or ...
I choose this cruise because I was looking forward to exploring and getting to know SE Asia. It was a terrible experience overall. The ports of call were in dirty, large cities where it was difficult to get out of the city areas without taking long bus rides. The tours were long, boring and we could barely understand the guides. When we went to the shore excursion desk, they didn't know anything ...
Ship limped it's way back into Fort Lauderdale just ahead of our cruise. Then we found out we would be staying 2 full days in Fort Lauderdale. We also found out that 2 of our most anticipated ports were then cancelled San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas USVI. Our time on Grand Turk was cut from 7 hours to just over 4. Holland America (HAL) did add another stop instead - Nassau, Bahamas - ...
This 7 dy cruise was an anniversary cruise. Oct 21 thr 28th, 2023. The ship stayed at ft, lauderdale for 2.5 dys before the capt. Finally sent out a msg saying seaweed had clogged one of the engines, and we should be sailing later that evening so that was the reason that we were still docked? While the ship is still at port the casino can't open, stores aren't open. We were supposed to go to ...
We chose HAL because we sailed with them 10+ years ago and it was great then. Unfortunately it has changed a lot and this has been the most disappointing vacation in 43 years. We missed 2 out of 4 ports due to ship being docked for maintenance. And one stop is just the private island owned by Carnival and HAL and the stop at Grand Turk was hugely disappointing as it was only Americanized tourist ...
I am incredibly disappointed, frustrated and feel ripped off that I paid full price for a Holland America Cruise, that did not cater to my age group, and had so many port stops cancelled. On top of this, the Shore Excursions advertised by Holland America on the Navigator App, and website were not what was delivered by the Tour Guides and the Greenhouse Spa experience was also very substandard. ...
My experience on the Nieuw Amsterdad was far from what was advertised. I did not find the dining to be top notch. Pinnicle was very overrated. I tried the porkchop and needed a chainsaw to cut it. My wife tried the Hallibut and it was so dry you could use it as an ink blotter. The main dining room was mediocre at best.
We were at sea 11 days of our 15 day cruise because 4 ports were ...
Stay away from balcony room The bathroom stinks of mold and mildew. They have tried deep cleaning but I fear it’s under the bathtub and walls. Other cruisers say their room is fine so I guess I got stuck they need to take out tub and replace with shower. The mold caused allergies that made my entire 26 day cruise less pleasant. The dining room dinners were great but the lido buffet awful. The ...
