Food was mostly great but the entertainment was lacking

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Holland America Rotterdam

Dining: The Pinnacle Grill was amazing but books up quickly. The dining room and Lido buffet have very good food but lack variety. Early dining was at 5 PM which is a bit too early IMO. The service at both the dining room and buffet was excellent. Drinks served in the dining room were half the size of drinks served at bars. Dining room etiquette was not enforced, and we had to watch people in ...

A beautiful modern ship with deficiencies in service

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Holland America Rotterdam

We have cruised each winter on Celebrity and looked for a change. We are not mad about their new E class ships. Rotterdam is beautiful, elegant , modern ! Cabins are spacious and top class. Ship is gorgeous all round. Food is above average. Beats X in our opinion. Customer service is poor. When you have a complaint or concern they do get back to you, but they are like robots. They never resolve ...

Pros and Cons!

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Holland America Rotterdam

We chose the Rotterdam 7 looking for a relaxing explore of the Caribbean! Here’s some information I think is valuable for others! Cons: - This ship seems more rocky than most. I was sea sick and lots of others including the crew were too! They can’t control the weather, but the Rotterdam seems a bit more rocky in winds than other boats. - The Ft Lauderdale cruise port is a mess. Will ...

Good and Bad on this cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam

First of all we booked through a travel agent and sometime between the booking and our actual cruise the itinerary changed. Our itinerary first was Half Moon Cay, sea day, St Thomas, San Juan, Turks, sea day then back. It ended up being Half Moon Cay, Turks, San Juan, St Thomas, sea day, sea day then back. I was not informed about the change so our tours were not aware of the change either. I more ...

Average Cruise for a Good Price

This was our second cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam and we would rate our experiences as average, to slightly above average. The ship and cabins are kept very well maintained and clean. In general, the crew are hard workers and pleasant. The embarkation and debarkation processes were excellent. The specialty restaurant food was good. The food in the main dining rooms and buffet is average but ...

Not what we paid for

We selected this cruise based on reviews and advice from past guests. The cruise was reduced from 7 days to 5 days due to the need to repair the azipod propulsion system which took 2 days to complete thereby making the ship a floating hotel. In addition to shortening the cruise they altered the itinerary to one which was far less desirable for our group and probably everyone aboard. We had ...

Meh, I've been on better.

Meh. This was my eleventh cruise, (4th on HAL) first in 6 years. It didn't rank highly, in fact it has somewhat put us off cruising, at least for anything longer than 10 days. By about day 11, we were ready to get off the ship. We felt there had been some (post Covid?) cutbacks. EMBARKATION AND DEBARKATION (Fort Lauderdale/San Diego) Both were fantastically swift, the best we've experienced ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Zuiderdam

We have sailed 7 times on HAL and have always enjoyed the cruises. This was the first HAL cruise that did not meet our expectations. While the service and crew members were outstanding as usual, our main complaint was the quality of the food and the food selections in the MDR. Many times at dinner in the MDR our server did not ask if we wanted a drink or wine with dinner and rarely were we asked ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Oosterdam

This was a 14 day trans-atlantic from Ft Lauderdale to Rome with 4 ports: two in the Azores and two in Spain. I've done over 50 cruises and about 10 were on HAL. I've always liked HAL's vibe - which is to appeal to seasoned travelers who appreciate discovering new places. I like days at sea and purposely picked this smaller, older ship after being on the Nieuw Statendam last summer (whose ...
