I have cruised HA 15 times. Love the line. We took this cruise and extended another 14 days to travel to Egypt, Turkey, Greece etc. so we were on the ship a total of 25 days. HA has always attracted an older crowd and the ship is usually fairly full. We noticed the following during our 25 days: (1) Poor officer interaction with passengers (2) poorly trained Lido floor wait staff (3) lack of ...
We spent 22 nights from the 16th September on Koningsdam and this was even better than the first time we cruised on her back in September 2016. The food was amazing whether it was in Lido or the main dining room. Tamarind where there is a surcharge to eat once again exceeded our expectations. Crew was as usual on HAL ships incredible and the Captain very informative and funny. We love this ship, ...
I have been on PO, carnival, and celebrity. I wanted to try holland America.
So the pros:
1. Ship ok, but very poorly designed.
2 Laundry cheap, photos cheap
3. Food was good
4 service ok, but Not great.
5 getting on and off ship easy
6 ship on time
Cons
Wow, where do i start:
1 smoking in casino and it spreads. Smoking outside in some public areas allowed. I found ...
We chose the cruise because the dates suited our vacation and because of the destinations.
We boarded in Amsterdam and did the 12 days to Rome. The ship was very nice and the crew were great.
I thought the main stage entertainment was a bit boring and wasn’t for us. I actually fell asleep in one of the shows, that’s how much I thought of it. The comedian Jo Little was good but her humour was ...
This is the largest ship of the fleet. It is too big, Lido restaruant has not enought seats at busy times. You have to line up many times to receive the food of your selection, all separate serving areas, your partner meanwhile is alone reserving your seat??
Night dining in the restarraunt is good with slow service but good food, average time is 1.5 to 2 hours.
There are not enough ...
We chose this particular cruise because of the various unique ports. Well, we obviously did not do our homework. Portland was Weymouth, Seville was hours away, as were Pisa and Florence and Rome from the ports. The excursion prices were outrageous. We met people that had paid just under $100 for shore excursions to the port towns that were walking back to the ship as the excursions were mostly ...
We have cruised with HAL a lot and wanted to to see what the big new ship was like. We had a noise problem with our cabin which unfortunately soured our view of the cruise. The ship is different from the other ships in the fleet but has some very nice new features, The variety of different dining experiences is good. The show lounge is amazing and the Dutch Cafe was popular. The Lincoln Centre ...
We chose this cruise because the itinerary was mostly new to us and we wanted to try Holland America's newest ship, Koningsdam. We were not disappointed. All the ports were great and we were docked right in the centre of town for most and the couple of ports that weren't had a shuttle to the centre of town. We couldn't fault Koningsdam. One the best ships for dining we've had and we've been on ...
Overall we liked this ship. Our interior cabin was smaller than expected but it worked quite fine.
The restaurants were good. The main dining room was ok but very hard to get a table for two. The Lido Market was ok but we found it quite repetitive for lunch.
The pizza counter was good and so was the hamburgers, hot dogs and fries place.
Loved the panoramic lounge. Good place to relax on ...
Had sailed on Koningsdam in 2016 and enjoyed the Baltic and Viking Sagas. Desire was to do Iberian peninsula after our Camino Portuguese walk. Very port intensive but enjoyed. Dining good but we had booked Tamarind and Pinnacle before the cruise and onboard got talked up to dining package which we really should not have done. Canaletto was just ok while Sel de Mer was not explained to us tee $60 ...
