I travel often and booked this cruise with my family for my parents 40th wedding anniversary 3 months before we sailed.
I booked two Vista suites online 7039 and 7041 3 months ago to be next door to my family since we were a larger group. Our total was over 13K for the rooms.

We chose this ship because we wanted to go away for the Christmas Holiday.
Embarkation was easy for us. This was our 4th HAL cruise and the 2nd on this ship. We have also sailed Carnival, Princess, RCL, Celebrity and Azamara. We had always enjoyed HAL, but we won’t sail the Nieuw Amsterdam again.

This was the worst service I’d ever experienced on a ship. They didn’t seem to have enough crew for sailing at full capacity.

We chose HAL, in our experience, they smaller ships, less noise and excellent food and service, no big production shows.

Boarding:
Not an ideal situation. The evening before our departure we received notice that due to norovirus our boarding would be delayed. Good news is we were getting a nice clean ship!
They did NOT, however, delay departure. So when we arrived, hours later than scheduled, we had a LONG, LONG, LONG, and hot line.
At least our room was ready when we got to the end of the line.
