We went with friends who chose the Baltic cruise, and we'd never been to any ports on the itinerary. We are 3-Star Mariners, and our friends are 4-Star, so we are predisposed to like HAL. Everything was handled very well and food was just fine, as usual. Entertainment was up a notch from some other HAL cruises we've been on.
We took HAL shore excursions in Tallin, Warnemunde and Kiel. Took a ...
I chose this cruise because I wanted to see the Baltic area and it was an exceptional itinerary. I had previously cruised on the Eurodam and the Zuiderdam, although in fine shape, was a bit smaller leading to some shortcomings. It should be noted that this cruise was the 10 day Baltic tour, which CruiseCritic didn't allow me to select.
Starting with a balcony, I upgraded to the Signature ...
We chose this cruise for the ports of call, time of year to take advantage of long sunny days and the well spaced sea days. We were very happy with all our ports of call with most having free shuttles to the city (except Edinburgh) and the ability to walk into town less than 15 minutes.
The boat is in great shape and is staffed by friendly crew and officers who do not hesitate to interact ...
This cruise well as it turned out two cruises back to back the Baltics and the transatlantic covered many locations so see cities we had not been too and in the case of Greenland never likely to visit unless by ship and the beauty of getting there included a whole day cruising Price Christian Sund.
All,went extremely well with great weather and smooth seas except for two days but still not ...
The Baltic Sea cruise was our first cruise ever. This was my 75th birthday (March), my wife' 60th in August and the 15th anniversary of our meeting in 2002: three good reasons to celebrate. We choose HL for its reputation for excellence, it's fine cuisine, its outstanding service and the quality of its ship. We did not regret our choice for one second. We choose Neptune suite 7070 on Rotterdam ...
We chose this itinerary because it offered us 5 days in Iceland. We also enjoyed 2 days in Norway and 2 in Scotland.
The Ship was a little dated, however the service was great.
Our stateroom (Neptune Suite) was spacious and well-appointed. We had access to the Neptune lounge, which provided food all day and an excellent concierge (Mae, you were great).
The Spa was excellent and we ...
Embarkation/Disembarkation: Both were handled very efficiently in Copenhagen.
Ship condition: Some of the reviews I've read about the condition of the ship make it seem like the Zuiderdam is an old rust bucket on its last leg, which is certainly not the case. I didn't notice any worn out carpet or furniture on the ship and it was kept very clean. That said, it is an older ship and the décor ...
We choose this particular cruise because of the itinerary including the following cruise to Iceland, and that it was a mid size ship. Very impressed with the organisation for embarking and disembarking. The food, entertainment and excursions were excellent although some of the excursions seemed a little disorganised with the local guides. Choices of food and menus we could not fault and we ...
We flew BA a day ahead and opted for the luggage transfer to hotel and airport. This was our second time staying in the Palace Hotel Copenhagen, they run the cruiseship people through like a well oiled machine!. It is a historic hotel that is kept clean, and is beautiful. The breakfast puts every American hotel to shame!
Embarkation was run smoothly, you just need patience, they are ...
I am just writing this review in case anyone has the same questions as I did. The itinerary on this cruise speaks for itself, I can’t imagine a better northern European itinerary so I will focus on the ship itself.
First of all, just a note, since all American flights to Europe get in first thing in the morning, if you want to spend the day in Copenhagen before boarding use Luggage Buddy or ...
