Beginning and end AWFUL; but Eurodam still made this work

Arrived at Manhatten Terminal and after 3 1/2 to 4 hours in lines, were finally able to board the ship. Embarkation was combined with departing NCL cruisers; noone knew what was happening or should be, lines were interminable and HAL staff were either non-existant or unhelpful. Thank goodness the rest of the cruise made up for this initial snafu or we would never have considered trying HAL ...

The Eurodam is one of HAL's newer ships, and the ship was very well maintained. Pluses on this cruise were the Itinerary (NYC, Newport Rhode Island, Gloucester Massachusetts, Bar Harbor Maine, Halifax and sydney Nova Scotia, Saguenay and Quebec city, Quebec, the gym (one of the best we have seen on a ship),the service in the dining rooms and staterooms, and the choice of meal entrees. Also, the ...

We stayed 4 nights pre-cruise at "Jewel Hotel" across from Rockefeller Center. Great little boutique type hotel, very modern, had ample room for the 3 of us-including a chair that pulled out into a bed. Water station on every floor where they have bottles to re-fill every day. Also have a small gym and free washer/dryer to use. Included free wifi and computers on 2nd floor. Could walk ...

Although we had been on a total of 10 cruises, this was our first one on HAL. We looked forward to it because we had heard good thigs about HAL and were lead to believe that they were a cut above Celebrity, Princess and NCL. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. We boarded the ship in New York City. I can only describe the boarding process as CAOS! Most of the problems appeared to be due to ...

It may have been just as applicable to title this review "The Great Race to Florida" or "Retirement Home at Sea". We embarked on October 6th in Quebec City for the 10 day cruise to Fort Lauderdale. The ship traveled at 20 - 22 knots on average and it felt at times like we were in a hurry to get to FL. Our fellow passengers were very pleasant and some of the nicest people we have cruised with so ...

My husband and I took the Canada & New England cruise on the Eurodam on Oct. 6, sailing from Quebec City. We flew in 2 days earlier so we could stay in Quebec City before the cruise and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel right outside of the walls of the old city. I can't say enough about this fine hotel and staff. The room was great and the breakfast buffet wonderful. I'd go back in a ...

Took the 10 day HA Eurodam from Quebec City, up the St. Lawrence River and down the east coast ending in Ft. Lauderdale. Loved Quebec City...first visit...spent two days exploring...highly recommend. Boarded Eurodam about 2:30p.m. with no significant wait, went directly to our cabin, met our cabin steward and off we went to explore. We have a couple of acquaintances that did not like the layout of ...

My wife and I(late 60s, early 70s)took our first cruise with Holland America, 9/16/2010. We found the Eurodam to be very attractive, clean and well designed ship. Also, the entertainment facilities, restaurant areas and lounges to be very pleasant and accommodating. Our stateroom was well taken care of by our steward. Our stateroom was directly below the Lido deck where diners could sit and eat ...

We stayed at the Casablanca Hotel in New York it was very good, close to Times Square yet quiet inside. There were four of us on this cruise my wife & myself plus my friend and his wife.A short taxi ride to the ship. But checking took over one hour, not enough staff & the ones that were there chatted with us too much. We booked over a year in advance through our local travel agent & several times ...

Great Vacation Experience

We decided to take a late September vacation in July and found that a guaranteed "N" category inside cabin was $499 per person! For a 10-day cruise we thought that was pretty sweet. At that price, we even talked our neighbors into going with us.Approximately two weeks before embarkation, we were upgraded to category "J" on main deck forward. That was a pleasant surprise as for $50 pp per day we ...
