We were excited to be on Zuiderdam on Aug 26, from Boston up to Quebec city. While the ship was nice and in good shape for being a few years old, it was the service and our cabin that disappointed us.
Pros:
- ship was in good shape.
- Our inside cabin was roomy for 4.
- good communication and service once we got quarantined in our inside cabin half way through the cruise (not ...
Our cruise on the Zaandam to New England and Canada was somewhat disappointing. We enjoyed the interaction with the crew members and the interior room was comfortable. However, there was only one outlet and no minifridge. The trivia games were interesting and Leanne was really great as a host. But other than the trivia, we found that there was really no entertainment that was worth the time. ...
We’ve sailed on Holland America numbers of times over the last several years and expected the newest ship of the fleet in service for three years to be an improvement in design, services and accommodations. We chose this “low impact” itinerary to enjoy the vessel and not require early departing excursions and for the most part the itinerary met this goal. However, the new ship missed the mark in a ...
We signed up with this cruise three years ago before Covid started. We were cancelled twice and finally able to go this month. We had so much trouble with reservations, Covid requirements and all the APPs that we had to download. We had trouble with boarding times and then found out at the Dock that they didn't even care what time we boarded. The ship was old and creaky. There was only one ...
We booked this cruise, and paid a premium price over a similar Princess cruise, because of the itinerary including stops in Newfoundland. It was a big change for two Princess Platinum "lifers". My goal was St. Anthony with a tour to Anse des Meadows and the ancient Viking settlement. Hurricane Earl killed that idea and those stops were off the list. Sad but not a fault of the ship.
My beef was ...
We are frequent cruisers and have traveled with HAL several times in the past. We wanted a cruise that would stay close to the US that visited places we had not previously seen. In retrospect it’s clear that this itinerary is less than compelling with most ports having minimal activities off ship if you do not chose the cruise lines’ tours.
Dining experience was good though don’t expect surf ...
When researching possible summer cruises, this 45 day itinerary (3 back to back segments) seemed very interesting. We had sailed the Nieuw Statendam on two previous cruises (21 and 14 days) in 2018 and 2019 and had enjoyed the ship.
Overall, we have sailed Holland's Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam for 115 days total and are considered "4 star" guests (Holland's rating system).
We had not ...
I have been holding off because I hate to complain but I gave them the 3-5 weeks they asked for our refund and after several calls and emails still nothing is resolved. On June 4th we took the New England/Canada cruise. We where delayed over an hour on departure and once again my gifts that where to be in the room for my wife's birthday where not there. Same as our Alaskan cruise. The TV had less ...
Had to be bussed 4 hours to the second port because the ship was under repair. Had to wait in the lobby for hours for a bus because they had no idea when we would go. We were compensated $75 for the trouble. Communication for Immigration back into the country and tendering were also very poorly handled.
The good news was the food was better than other lines I’ve been on and the ship was ...
I chose this cruise because my family decided a last minute trip and this trip was the only itinerary would fit our schedule and we wanted to explore the East coast of Canada. I would rated the experience better if it was our trip ended so terribly on the last day of our cruise trip. The crew members were hardworking and friendly. The food was good overall. I think they ship needs a major ...
