I chose this cruise because it offered a visit to the Denali Wilderness Park. It also visited Skagway and Fairbanks, both places I had not visited. My first mistake was booking through a secondary seller. My usual travel agent was told by Holland America that they had not heard of the trip I was trying to book. So my friend and I booked through the secondary seller. The price was very low ...
I chose this cruise because it was leaving from Seattle and going to Glacier Bay National Park. It had a full day of cruising on my birthday.
We have been to Alaska before, a two week cruise where we were running from beginning to end seeing the sights while in port. This was to be the opposite, time spent enjoying the ship and relaxing. That's exactly what I did.
Seattle embarkation ...
*Summary* Best damn cruise we have ever been on. Exemplary crew from start to finish. The itinerary is pure Alaska and Glacier Bay National Park should be on everyone's bucket list.
Less than one hour transpired from port arrival to sitting down for lunch. The entire cruise we encountered nothing but individuals who were happy with their work, and happy to ensure your time on their ship was ...
My husband and I traveled to Alaska in August 2017. We are a couple in our early 30s with no children; we are very active and passionate about food. Our cruise to Alaska was our first cruise, and we chose HAL because it seemed to be a good fit for our interests. We also have always wanted to see Alaska as a destination

We live in Vancouver, so getting to the cruise ship terminal ...
Port of Seattle made it easy for the family. Good way to experience Alaska. Teen rooms were great for the teens (not 13 or 18 though).
Lots of food choices and activities. Wish they had more yoga activities and smell in dining room was a bit strong.
great to be able to order a limited selection of room service
beware of buying packages.
they told me as i was boarding the only way ...
To be fair we chose HAL for this trip simply because of the small travel window we had available and a last minute decision they were the only line that would work. I don't think this is probably a compatible line for our travel type.
Stateroom - wonderful. Almost the only inside cabin on that deck but no one on either side of us. So quiet, comfy bed and larger than expected.
Stateroom ...
We were excited to be boarding the Holland America Zaandam for our recent Alaska cruise Our assigned stateroom was a category H partially obstructed view cabin close to the outdoors on the lower promenade deck… the next best thing to having a veranda stateroom.
However a few days prior to boarding we were upgraded to a full ocean view stateroom with portholes, And there is the catch.
We ...
My sister and I booked our cruse thru the cruse agent. We asked for a quiet cabin away from any ice machines, elevator, area with music etc. A quiet area. The first night we heard banging, and what sounded like something heavy rolling over concrete. We were under the 24 hour a day active ships galley. After being told there were no other cabins available, we asked for one of the ships land tours ...
It's Alaska. Everyone should make this trip to see Alaska - especially since so much of this cruise is to areas that are difficult or impossible to access any other way.
A previously positive experience with Holland America saw us booking this cruise to Alaska many months ago with them. Our previously experience was in Europe. Sadly we discovered the "passenger profile" of the American ...
Always wanted to do a gay cruise - and always have wanted to see Alaska. Got the chance to do so last week - and was pleasantly surprised. The ship is really nice, the food was SURPRISINGLY good, and the itinerary (Seattle-Juneau-Glacier Bay-Sitka-Ketchikan-Victoria) was wonderful. Best part of the cruise was having National Park Rangers narrate on the ship PA as we toured Glacier Bay National ...
