This cruise was the first of the year to Alaska for Holland America this year, 2023. We had heard favorable things about a Holland America; however, the cruise line failed to live up to any of the expectations that people had set for us. It began by having the board at 11 AM without our cabins being ready nor leaving until 5 PM. All of the passengers were directed to the Lido deck, where they ...
We will not be cruising with Holland America again and most defiantly not from Vancouver 5 hours it took of queuing and being herded around to being ushered to find our own cabins with the key in the door no explanations or greetings cabin was ok just what we had booked.
Ques every time time we wanted to get to customer services as soo many people complaining , the lifts were dirty clearly not ...
To be honest this was our first cruise. We chose hal because of its past reputation with Alaska cruises. Let me say right away, Alaska and Glacier Bay were outstanding. if you ever get a chance to visit Glacier Bay you must do it. It rates up there with Banff. However use another cruise line.
Embarkation took three hours plus, thousands of folks stuck in one building being shuffled around like ...
I took neighbours on the Koningsdam in August 2022 and everything on the ship was delightful. Barely eight months later, almost everything on the ship was appalling.
Gustavo Antorcha, HAL CEO, has stated:
On each ship, the guest experience attracts cruisers back again and again with the best live music at sea, a culinary program that rivals the best land-based restaurants, and engaging ...
20 day transit from Vancouver to Ft. Lauderdale through the Panama Canal.
This was our 30th HAL cruise, we are both 5 star mariners. Neptune Suite.
Our boarding time was 10:00 am (priority boarding for Neptune Suite guests). We got to the Vancouver terminal at 10 am. Waited about 30 minutes before baggage screening opened. Ushered to another waiting area where we waited another 30 ...
The thing that topped off and overall bad cruise was a bogus charge of $70.21 for the use of our mini bar which we did not use. We attempted to have this charge reversed via our credit card company but HAL responded saying the the mini bar was not included in our drink package. Overall there were too many people on the cruise which made for a feeding frenzy at each and every meal. There was a ...
This was a 51 day cruise and has been terrible with rubbish entertainment and now on the New Zealand part we have repeated entertainment, even the trivia has the same questions! Don’t waste your money!! A penny pinching cruise line with many cancelled ports. BB kings perform the same songs nightly which gets very boring after a while. The food in the restaurants is very basic with an option to pay ...
Convenience was the reason for this cruise., sailing out of down town Seattle.Check in involved 4 check points, sometimes repeating what was previously done. It took our group nearly 4 hours to check in & board!
This is a ship with some age
Our rooms were on the small side.
The air quality poor as the Airconditioming struggled to cover the room.
Bathrooms very small.
Dining room ...
To be fair the Holland America Alaskan Cruise trip was very nice. However, the process and the people you had to deal with to start the cruise were prohibitively painful.. First of all we understand that Holland America is short staffed and their people are under trained. However, almost no one has authority or the desire to help others or to do the right thing.
There is an old adage that I ...
Did the typical research for our first cruise and “it” (whoever it is) that Holland America was a good line. Little did I understand that the average age of the passengers was probably 70. The cabin was one of 2 highlights of the so called cruise. It felt more like a ferry than a cruise. The other highlight was an excursion to the Hubbard Glacier (but be prepared to pay $200-1,000 per person for ...
