I loved the staff, the service and honestly the maintenance of the ship is overall very good. I would give them 4.5 to 5 stars in most cases. The ship however is old from the perspective of activities and value.
Activities are very limited compared to other vessels both in terms of physical offerings such as recreational opportunities but also in terms of creativity. Other ships have mini ...
Last days of October, first days of November provided exceptionally good weather in the Western Mediterranean area. That of course helped in having a wonderful experience. Even in the evening the outside temperature was balmy with an oily, slick sea. I booked a cruise inclusive flight and transfer with HAL and both the embarkation and disembarkation process were impeccable and speedy. The ...
We took the Eurodam on a last minute cruise from NY to Canada in 2015 and we had a good time. Our last couple of cruise experiences weren't great as anyone who has been cruising for a while will know that cruise lines are cutting back all the time. The cruise you took ten years ago isn't the same as today. Therefore, our expectations were low. Our thoughts were that we would use the ship as a mode ...
The old joke says HAL cruises are the ones on which senior citizens take their parents. But both groups are dying off, one by one, and the company can’t seem to define its replacement audience.
I rate this cruise a B-plus, but only just. We purchased a low-cost upgrade to a Signature Suite, which gave us the best cabin we’ve had on a cruise ship in many years, including the most comfortable ...
We had a great stateroom, wonderful staff and above average food. Our stateroom was part of a refurbishment effort that installed a series of suites and verandahs in the stern.. Highly recommended. The staff was wonderful. Our cabin attendant Eko was kind, attentive and eager to make sure we were happy. A stand-out was a table steward in the dining room - Nur. He is one of the kindest individuals ...
The ship was fine, the Neptune Suites seemed smaller and less well laid out than other ships on the Holland line. The entertainment was only OK at best, but perhaps that was because we only had 2 sea days. What was surprising to me, having been on several other Holland America cruises was that the quality of food had declined so dramatically. I took my 14 year old granddaughter who loves to eat, ...
Although we have built up points on 13 cruises with another line we had heard good things about Holland America so we decided to give it a go when they made an offering with ports-of-call which were new to us. After spending a week in Lucignano we arrived at Cevitavecchia around 11 to find the streets mobbed with tourists. Do not be fooled, the north entrance by the traffic circle is the one to ...
This was our 40th cruise, spread across all the major cruise lines. Our cruise had very good points along with really disappointing ones too!
First to the good ones; room stewards, dining room waiters, BB King Blues Club, Lincoln Center string quintet, fitness center, we're all outstanding.
The detractions to a good cruise were numerous as well. The size of our room was totally ...
I was disappointed to find no guest laundry on the ship. Was on a 32 night cruise, and ships laundry costs very expensive for that amount of time.
Loved our verandah suite stateroom. The staff mostly cheerful and attentive. The ships band was amazing. Singers and dancers pretty good as well. Some of the bought on entertainment Average, one of the comedians was embarrassing.
HAL merchandise ...
I hadn't inquired as to the size of the ship, so this is on me. I'm used to the smaller ships. Too many people. I'd meet lovely people and then never see them again. I was berthed in the rear of the ship, and was exhausted by the time I reached the front to disembark. The Exploration Cafe (at first, I couldn't find the library--then was told that it is all part of a larger whole) could only ...
