This Mekong cruise, with my hubby, fit with other Asia travel plans. We are early 60s, in good health & walk 3-5 miles a day. The good: Hotels were mostly 5 star and had good breakfast buffets with extensive variety. Viking Saigon was beautiful with lovely, well appointed, large cabins and a good variety of food. Buses had AC and carried cold, bottled water, but not toilets (not ...

First Cruise Experience, Very Enjoyable

We signed up for the cruise because a travel couple invited us to join them. Our normal travel experience is via guided hiking trips usually with an activity level of 3-4. We’d never been to Southeast Asia so the experience would be exciting. We’d never cruised at all and don’t care for very large groups nor low activity levels so it would be interesting to see how cruises fit into our ...

This was a wonderful trip. Rather than repeating everything I'll just say I agree with everything the main cruise critic review said. Terrific food. Comfortable cabin. Really interesting trips off the boat with very knowledgeable guides. The only reason I didn't give it the extra star is because of how hard it was to get any information from the cruise line. When you call their number you ...

Expect the days to be HOT and humid at each port you visit. If you can stand the heat and like to sweat, then you'll have a great time. I enjoyed the food offered on the ship, the chefs had nightly special, that gave you a chance to try foods that you wouldn't have a chance to enjoy otherwise. The crew couldn't have been more helpful, from keeping the room clean, deck dry, and even cleaning your ...

To visit Vietnam and Cambodia. Saw only a limited area of each country. Cruise was great. Guides were fantastic. Got to understand more about each country. Visits to war memorials were very informative. Felt very safe. Cambodians so friendly. Traffic is chaotic. Learning how to cross a road was a big education - not to hesitate when a motorbike is heading straight to you is a big mindset ...

My family and I do a big adventure trip every year and we had been wanting to do SE Asia for a couple of year and just couldn't find anything escorted that lined up with school holiday breaks. We booked about 9 months in advance for myself, my active but older parents and my 16 yr old daughter. We have previously done only land packages with Tauck tours and were looking for something close to that ...

We chose this cruise as it was a part of Asia we had not visited before and included time in Ho Chi Minh and then Siem Reap to see the temples at Angkor Watt . A stopover of two nights in Singapore had been added as a booking inducement The Scenic Spirit is a purpose built Mekong River boat catering for around 84 guests with a range of cabins over three decks. The ship I understand is about a ...

Worth going to see Angkor Wat in Cambodia and experience the cuisine.

I had been to Vietnam during the Vietnam war in the late 60s and wanted to see and experience it in a different light. Angkor Wat was also on our bucket list. We found the Vietnamese people very warm and likable, but their tourism industry needs a little help finding better venues to see. Cambodia was phenomenal as were there people and the ruins. Angkor Wat is a must see. Bangkok ...
