I went on this 3 day coastal cruise from Vancouver to LA. Check in was fast but after that it went down hill fast. We waited 2 hours before being allowed to board ship. Good thing I bought my own water because there was no drinks or snack avialable. Then when we wanted to get on, we were delayed by photographer taking pictures. It was freezing that day and they held up the line to get on again , taking your picture outside. Why didn't the picture get taken inside when we first checked in. When we finally entered the ship, there was no welcome to Princess greeting or drink or anybody. You just kinda stumbled in and if you had not cruised before, you would have no idea where to go. Since I have cruised before I knew to go up to buffet for lunch. The buffet selection is the smallest of any cruise line I have been on. Food was OK at best. Very small selections. There is no ethnic selections. It was also freezing. It was like eating outside. When we mentioned this to the waiter, he said that the doors are opened , that's why it's so cold. I thought that's the worse excuse of not turning on the heat I ever heard. And the doors were definitely closed. After that i wanted to use the spa and work out. That was not functioning till later, I was told. I went in evening and all the steam rooms and heated beds were not warmed up, the facets in the steam rooms were not working and never worked during the whole 3 day cruise. The exercise room was not opened till the afternoon of the second day. There was a lot of new staff and they were not trained yet. We had an inside cabin and it was super small. They changed the bedding after dry dock and we had really warm duvets. But I think that's the only thing they fixed. The fridge was broken, never got cold. Even after mentioning it to room steward and desk, nothing was done. The room stewards would walk right by you without a good morning. We never got any animal towels like we do on other cruises. The room cleaning was fine. We ate in dining room every night. The first night, I had a seafood dish with clams and mussels. The shells were broken and I bit into a shell. I was so lucky that I didn't break my filling. I mentioned it to the wait staff and the head waiter came by and seemed unconcerned. He goes do you need medical attention? I said first of all, u don't put broken shells on a plate, because they will cut your mouth and also if they did not open , you couldn't tell, which could make you sick. He just told me cause they stir them around in a pot the shells break. That's how it is. The food in general was OK. Some of the soups were super salty. The prime rib was very good, but my girlfriends piece was tough. The fish is not that fresh, so I would avoid. The desserts were not that good. The ice cream tasted like mass produced. The waitress informed us it was made from a powder mix and it tasted like it. I tried the rhubarb ice cream and is was bright pink and did not resembled anything rhubarb. The ship is very old looking and the elevators do not work. I was stuck in and elevator with another couple. The doors would not open and none of the buttons would work. We used the phone and the person on other end said he would be there in a few minutes. After 10 mins nothing was happening. I tried to scream through the crack of door and we tried to call again on the phone and no answer this time. The other guy in elevator somehow got the door opened and there was no one on the other side. The door closed right away and I informed the desk what happened. The next day I was in a different elevator and it just started in go down and didn't stop at any floors. All the lights on the panel went out and couldn't be lit up after trying to push buttons on every floor. It went down 4 floors and stopped. I just jumped out and walked up the stairs. Another scary experience, that the front desk didn't seem concerned about. There was an event for EFFY jewellery and they offered free rum cocktails. At the end of the presentation they told us they were ran out of the drinks. And to come back to the later presentation. I thought "ARE YOU KIDDING ME". It's a ship, you do not run out of drinks. We informed the desk again and they did nothing. Not even a offer of a free drink in the lounge. I was so mad after a trying 2 days. Service is so bad on this ship, if stuff goes wrong, nobody cares. I asked for a water at the coffee bar and , he goes no you gotta go to the bar. I said you don't have water here? He goes Yes. THEN WHy CAN'T I GET WATER HERE. The night show in the main theatre were so bad. Every night there was a different one man comedian which lasted about 25 mins. No singing or dancing productions. I attended a orgami class and I was late cause I couldn't find the room. She put me down cause I was late and rushed through the remainder of class. The poor guy that was sitting with me was totally lost but she never came by to help him. The toilets were out of order all the time in the public spaces. I never saw people cleaning the public areas like on other ships. The only positive things were: 1. the pizza is delicious 2. movie under the stars is good 3. the dance class was the best, a very good teacher 4. the lobby looked beautiful decorated for Christmas I don't think, I will ever take Princess again. Just too many negative things. Holland American and Celebrity does not have these issues. If there is anything that goes wrong they will fix it. On Princess they just don't care. Read Less

Our dream of going to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were so disappointed with the company Princess. It was our 5 th croissière and the second with Princess. To start our bed was like a plywood board! Hard and not comfortable. Even after notifying the customer service, the housekeeper has put extra covers ... And nothing more! Bad has my back all the holidays! (I've never had a problem before with my back and since I came back it all came back normal!) Secondly the buffet on the 14 floors, they could not find a place to sit, lots of older people with canes and walkers on our boat and they went around the two rooms without finding a place and finally margin in their room or coffee in the 5th and sometimes I found a place in the bar to eat a donut and a coffee. If I ended up finding a place I would fill so much couple as I am 42 years old and not give my place to an elderly person with difficulty in moving it. It's a lot of trouble because in town if a pregnant woman or an elderly person needs to sit it will give me pleasure to give her my place, this is part of my values. I find it awful to experience this. My trip costing me over $ 9000 can. And I think we should be forgetting to fight to find a place to eat is ridiculous! Or even lunch in his cabin! The dining rooms are open from 7 am to 9 am with services. They are ridiculous to put a alarm to be able to have a lunch on the boat. Following my complaint they did absolutely nothing! But they are not bother to take the total on our credit card. So disappointed with this trip ... thanks to Princess! Read Less

OH MY. We have been on many many cruises with Royal Caribbean before, and this is BY FAR THE WORST ONE. (A bit of context: we have been on the Jewel of the Seas, and Oasis of the Seas, for example. So writing this review, it's based on our prior experiences.) We sailed from Honolulu to Vancouver, as a repositioning cruise, but I don't understand why the embarkation was 3+ HOURS! (photos showed how long the lineup was!) They didn't even explain (before or after) why it was taking so long, I felt they owed everyone an apology! Especially the elderly who had to wait that long, with no A/C, hot, and someone fainted!!! After that terrible first day, we barely got on the ship to partake on the mandatory life boat safety drill! Dining was a disaster. DO NOT DO "MY TIME". It's not YOUR time, it's the SHIPS' time. Cascades, deck 4 was terrible. The hostess told us the wrong time for our dinner reservations, so when we showed up at the time she told us, our table was given away! We had selected 5:30pm online before we went on board, and they said the "shore didn't communicate with the ship", so we didn't have a spot. Had to wait over 30 minutes in line for the first three nights just to get seated, and this was during the second seating! We just went to the Jewel of the Seas (same class of ship) in November, and we recognized the same menus, but the food was so much better on the Jewel! The food sucked in the dining room (exception: key lime pie), things tasted as if they were just defrosted and then cooked right away (especially the seafood! how disappointing!). This is the first time I think the windjammer food surpassed the dining room's food! On one of the nights, a party had booked a wedding function late in the night, and our room unfortunately was right underneath the quill and compass bar on deck 6. Our room thudded, you could hear exactly what song was being played! And they didn't do anything about it, since it was booked for a function. So we couldn't sleep past 2am, wasting our last day in Maui. The ship is showing it's age. The chairs' upholstery at windjammer was ripping or scratched, showing the cushion underneath. Bars and rails around the ship were rusting (especially Windjammer) and just needs a fresh coat of paint. Our interior cabin's washrooms were dated, but at least clean. The only good things were: -our servers, very friendly -our stateroom assistant - so neat, and best towel animals! -Cruise itinerary, great 7 days in Hawaii, and 5 days for rest. However, it gets cold as soon as you leave Hawaii, so it's too cold to swim outside for the 5 days, leaving the solarium crowded. We made more friends from the terrible experiences that the positive ones. Honestly, it left such a bad taste in our mouth, that we may not ever sail with Royal Caribbean again. We called customer service, and met with the guest relations staff onboard, and nothing was done to keep our business. That's just too bad. Read Less

I chose this cruise because we live in Vancouver and it would be a no hassle (airports) way to enjoy a leisurely much needed holiday. The first day should have been the omen that would tell us how the rest of the trip would work out. We took 3 hours to check in.. everyone had been instructed to leave because they had to sanitize due to abnormal amount of Nor walk virus.. Many many people got sick... The entertainment was one step above a school production, social staff clearly did not enjoy their jobs. The library was moved to the top level of the ship where they had exciting activities such as "Napkin Folding". Really? Food was mediocre ..Do not book a set table.. the dining room was very sparsely attended .. we had a table for 8 and NO ONE showed up most nights ... the staff offered no other options in terms of moving us to another table even after we asked. The sea was rough 10 meter waves etc. Not really the fault of the cruise line but some effort could have been made to reroute into calmer waters ( we sailed the Atlantic and the cruise company we sailed with avoided a huge storm by sailing out of it's path) The stabilizers even malfunctioned coming into Victoria. Bar and Wait Staff seemed harassed and worked very hard but didn't put any extra effort in ..an example of this was ..I ordered a drink and they had run out of the mix they needed but were to busy apparently to send someone to another bar for what was needed .. I honestly do not know how this cruise company functions... We will NEVER cruise with Holland America again. Read Less
