Wanted to see Cuba without a lot of hassle and long bus trips so chose a 7 day cruise which included 3 Cuban ports. (Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago) Some of the entrance channels are narrow and shallow which will prevent larger ships from stopping at these ports. Our cruise was part of a package booked through Air Transat. We expected it to be a direct flight from Vancouver to Havana but instead we stopped at Santa Clara, got off the plane, and got back on to fly to Varadero. The embarkation was 6 hours late, the ship was waiting a few miles from Havana Port because there was no place for the ship in Port. I understood the problem and accepted it wasn't there fault, the think I had a problem with was a lack of information for the waiting passengers to board the ship.
