I was expecting relaxation, good shopping and tropical paradise. What I got was sleep deprivation, a parasite, overpacked, rude people with screaming kids that were allowed everywhere. Shopping consisted of being pushed into jewelry stores and very few locals selling nothing more than the basic tye-dye apparel and poorly carved trinkets. St Thomas was not the tropical paradise I had envisioned. The shore excursion was changed last minute and was not a beginners adventure! Also we were told we were to be reimbursed $10 each for the change but actually got $2. Haiti was beautiful but we were pretty much left to figure out how things work on our own and we had to pay $20 ea for a floating mat. Also we were never explained the options for transportation to and from the airport to ship so that was a shit show. And I guess I will conclude with the information that I contracted a parasite by the end of day 1 and have had diarrhea for 12 days now :( Read Less

The ship is as advertised. Clean, great shows, plenty to do. Surprisingly, the boat did not feel crowded with over 6500 guests on board. Truly special. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. The food was average at best. The wait staff was not very attentive in any of the restaurants we ate. The worst part was the lack of direction or support given at the ports of call. In short, once you were off the boat you were on your own, even if you were on a Royal Caribbean sponsored excursion. Many times we were left to wander (with 3 young kids) trying to find the right van, bus, etc with no RC employee in sight. Beware- RC (unlike other cruise lines) will give their employee name badges to employees of local vendor companies. This leaves you with false impression you are dealing with someone who is vested to help you. For those that enjoy the service touches of a Disney, Princess, etc note that this is a big step down. We chose this cruise 2 days before departure as we had lost power from Irma and were tired f the rough living conditions. I had tried to book a suite on NCL but noe were available. I really like the Haven and the outstanding service you get in the Haven. If you are looking for a great cruise ship with a balcony or interior room, then I would say go for it. The boat is beautiful and has so much to do on board. It never once felt crowded. A day at sea was as fun as a day at a port. Unlike other ships, there was always a deck chair to be found on days at sea. My only complaint for this t was not enough drink servers anywhere on the boat. In the past, RCCL cruises had staff always asking us if we wanted drinks. ON this boat they clearly did not staff it like that. Most of us would just go up to the bar. My complain with the suites is you do not get the top shelf service to match the very high price you are paying for it. At check in the person checking us in did not know the answers to any of my questions about concierge locations, etc. He explained he was new....This is who you have checking in your premium paying passengers?!? When we got on and went to the suites lounge, they were closed as they were filming a Netflix series. There was no one at the blocked doors to call for our concierge, or help us as our room was in the name of another passenger and no way to fix it. I don't pay all the money for a larger room. I pay it so I do not have to do things like stand in a guest services line that is a mile long. So while everyone is booking their restaurants for the week, the suite guests either had to go stand in line at guest services or jot, with no help or advice. How simple would it have been to place the concierges in the hallway by the suite lounge to explain to everyone why the restaurant and lounge they had paid a premium for was not available. Later in the day my stateroom attendant located the concierge and he was outstanding, they both were. If you get Jeremias or Checker as your concierges, homerun...these guys get it and are both outstanding. The rest of the cruise was smooth sailing, ports were fun, a ton to do on the ship. It really is a beautiful boat and so large to never feel crowded but simple to get around on. The only complain about the ship as a whole was the lack of drink service staff. When you charge people close to $500 for a drink package, you had better make it far easier for them to actually get the drink. Other than the casino, I almost always had to go to the bar. As I said, other than the suites the boat would have been perfect. However Norwiegan is far superior with the suite experience and from now on I think we will stick to that line for future cruises unles RCCL gets their act together and realizes that those of us that pay a premium for outstanding service had better receive it or we will go elsewhere as there are better choices available. We cruised in a Sky Loft Suite which was a part of the "Star Class" for our 20th anniversary. The suite itself is so large and wonderful our balcony was on the port side, we selected to not have a balcony that faced the Aqua Theater, because we like our privacy. We were greeted at Port Everglades by our Genie, Cleon, who was the nicest man. We were escorted onto the ship, actually we were the first people on board, and shown immediately to our suite where we left our luggage (the suite was not ready for occupancy at the time of our boarding which was about 11:00 am) this is one of the many advantages for traveling in the "Star Class".. after our luggage was deposited in our suite, we were given a tour about the ship, and then left to occupy ourselves until our cabin was ready. At 1:00 pm we were allowed into our suite, where we were greeted by our room attendants and a bottle of bubbly and a lavish spread of snacks. Our Genie, came to arrange our weekly activities around 1:15. He made all the arrangements for our dining and shows, it was amazing! We truly loved everything about our Star Class experience, we were escorted to dinner every evening, and to each show where the very best seats were awaiting. This was a celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary and I can't say enough wonderful things about our treatment. Read Less
