We traveled the week of Thanksgiving, the boat was packed but never felt crowded. The shows were top notch and enjoyable. They had a great jazz band (Les DeMerles) at Jazz on 4, Grease was well done and the performers outstanding. We dined at Wonderland, Central Park 150, Izumi, Jamie's, Chops and last but certainly not least, Solarium Bistro. First day on, we had lunch at Chops. One of the best meals of the cruise and excellent service from Bojan (from Serbia) started our cruise on a happy note. Wonderland was a unique experience and our server, Kevin made sure we enjoyed every minute of it. Solarium Bistro for dinner (included in cruise price) was great and we only wish we'd tried it sooner. It also offers a nice buffet for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is a combination. We had a server offered select items from a menu, but could also partake of a well stocked buffet offering entrees, salad, sides, desserts. Not many folks seem to know about the Bistro, but if they discover it, I'm sure they'll start going there again and again. Our meal at Central Park 150 was wonderful. One of the best meals on the ship. We dined a few nights at Coastal Kitchen and were pleased, and we ate most breakfasts there as well. Actually, the only meal onboard that was a disappointment was Jamie's. We all selected something different and none of us enjoyed the entrees enough to finish them. The appetizer plank that came out first was plentiful and better than the main courses. We were in a Grande Suite, #14660. While not crazy about the wall in the center that divides the bedroom from living area because it makes the room seem much smaller than the same suite on the Freedom, the division did come in handy for giving our son some privacy for his sleeper sofa when pulled out. If we sail the Harmony again, we would not book deck 14. We've been on upper decks before but never experienced as much noise as we did on this cruise. Fortunately, we weren't in the cabin enough for it to affect our pleasure with the ship. Our steward, Marcelino (from Guam if I recall correctly) was the best we've ever had. He was accommodating without being intrusive and always seemed to know what we needed before we realized it ourselves. That man was a gem! A word of warning regarding charges to your room. Check them regularly! We were overcharged $30 for a tour on the ship, had an $18 charge from one of the restaurants & hadn't purchased anything there, and there was almost $23 charged at one of the bars or shops by the pools that weren't ours. So we had to get in line and get those straightened out. They were pleasant about it, but still had we not pulled up our account on the tv, could have paid $71 for nothing! Would we sail the Harmony again? In a heartbeat! It truly was a magnificent ship and a wonderful cruise. Read Less

We are a family of 3 which includes my wife and I and our 15 year old daughter. We chose to cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas on a 7 Night Western Carribean itinerary, so we could vacation with friends who were already booked. As a total group, on the cruise, we totated 5 adults and 5 teenagers from 12 - 17. We have cruised twice before but with two different cruise lines and two different destinations, so everything on this cruise was going to be new to us. We decided to start our vacation by arriving early in the day preceding the cruise so we could enjoy a day exploring Orlando. We flew Southwest Airlines and opted for the early bird check-in option. Unless money was tight we will probably use early bird check-in again as it simplifies things and got us a better boarding assignment to ensure we were near the front of the plane and sitting together. As an additional note Southwest boards families with children under six between the A and B groups. We found that as these families wanted to sit together and the A group had randomly occupied the first half of the plane, the families seemed to congregate in the back half of the plane as a result. We arrived in Orlando with an embarrassing amount of luggage for a family of 3 and rented a car from National directly at the airport. If I had been more experienced I would have been able to skip the counter and just pick a car and finish the checkout at the garage exit. Very quick and easy car rental experience overall. We arrived well before noon at the “Holiday Inn Express & Suites Orlando - International Drive” and they were able to check us in immediately so we could drop off our luggage and start exploring. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and well situated to explore the more popular attractions in Orlando. We opted to do some shopping and eating at Disney Springs. We ate at the Earl of Sandwich was which was tasty and economical especially considering Disney’s usually inflated food prices. (As a side note, I managed to get a pretty good cut on my lip from the bread which was an odd experience.) We then drove directly to Universal City Walk to see Blue Man Group and paid way too much for parking. Blue Man Group was great but if you have seen them in the past 10 years be aware they haven’t changed the show at all. We probably won’t go again until they change the show. We then proceeded to finish out the night at “Andretti Indoor Karting & Games”. Andretti was a blast! We stayed until about 11pm before we had to give up due to exhaustion. They have three different indoor go-kart tracks for varying ages and abilities. They also have video games, a ropes course, a bowling area, and a bar. We would definitely like to spend more time there as everyone in our family had a blast there. After collapsing and sleeping fairly well we decided to eat breakfast at the hotel which was included with the room. It was standard hotel fair and quite acceptable to all of us as it included hot foods such as eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc… We checked out very quickly and proceeded directly to the highway which was very close to the hotel but unheard from our room. The drive to Port Canaveral was about 45 minutes and uneventful. As a side note if you are renting a car and driving around I recommend a “Visitor Toll Pass” from the Central Florida Expressway Authority. It's a small placard you can hang from your mirror that will charge all your tolls directly to your linked credit card without all the fees the rental companies like to saddle you with. It was very easy to reserve online and pick up at a booth near the rental car counters. We simply dropped it off at the same booth when we returned to the booth when we flew home. I dropped off the family and our embarrassing amount of luggage at the terminal and went to drop off the car. I picked National because they have a location within the port and very close to the terminal. I was back with my family in under 15 minutes. The embarkation process was super quick and easy. We arrived at the port at approximately 10:35 and were onboard with drinks in hand at 11:15. Fwiw, we did have a Jr. Suite which allowed us to embark on a little quicker but our friends had a regular oceanview and actually beat us onboard as they made it to port a about 10 minutes sooner than us. It really doesn’t seem that the different embarkation perk levels make any difference that early in the morning. The short version of our cruise experience is that we loved it. We stayed in a Jr. Suite and booked two Royal Carribean and two private excursions. We ate at speciality restaurants 4 nights and never tried the main dining room for dinner. We saw three shows and tried quite a few onboard activities. We would definitely be open to cruising on Royal Carribean again but we weren’t blown away enough to forsake other cruise lines in the future. And now the longer version… We originally booked a Large Ocean View stateroom using a travel agent at AAA. AAA provides some nice perks in a free speciality restaurant dinner for 2, a free speciality restaurant lunch for 2, a bottle of champagne, and priority boarding. Technically the only perk we ended up using was the free speciality restaurant dinner. We price matched several times and managed to drop about $900 off our cruise price. We got an email offer to bid on a room upgrade through Royal Caribbean about 3 months before our sailing date. I bid $550 on an upgrade to the Jr. Suite which was only $50 more than the bare minimum and considered a “poor” bid. About 2 months prior to sailing our bid was accepted, my credit card was charged, and our new room was assigned, all in one email on a monday morning. We ended up getting a slanted balcony on deck 8. This room was excellent and I would happily take the floor and the slanted balcony in the future without reservation. The slanted balcony ended up offering a great view forward without leaning out over the railing. And deck 8 was perfect if you plan on eating dinner at the speciality restaurants as several of them are off Central Park which is on the same level. Deck 5 and deck 6 are the Promenade and the Boardwalk so are easily walking distance when the elevators are packed (which was often). The room itself was spacious and had a pullman bed and pull out bed. My daughter spent the whole week in the pullman and seemed fairly comfortable as she was only complaining about my snoring and not the bed. The walk-in closet was great and the bigger bathroom was very nice. The bathtub/shower is only partially enclosed, which was weird and led to wet floors after a shower. There were at least 4 AC outlets and 2 USB outlets in the room which was plenty for us. There is no clothesline but we brought plenty of magnetic hooks and used those to hang wet bathing suits without any problems. We had a standard room attendant (not a genie) who was easily the best room attendant we have ever had. (Fwiw his name is Iwayan and he is from Indonesia.) I wouldn’t have booked the room at its initial cost of $2000 more than our original room, but now that I’ve experienced it I will probably book it again in the future. As for the food… For a little background, we're more Outback / Olive Garden level diners in the real world as opposed to Ruth Chris Steakhouse types. We ended up eating at speciality restaurants 4 nights and Johnny Rockets for lunch one day. In general the food quality was much better than the other venues and quite enjoyable overall. We dined at Wonderland on embarkation day and got a table with a great view overlooking the boardwalk area at night. While Wonderland was as much an experience as a meal, for us it was very slow between courses and the food was weird. While it was enjoyable and filling it was not an experience we would choose to repeat. 150 Park and Jamie’s Italian had excellent food and faster serving times, though it was still a bit slow for us. Chops was excellent all around and would happily dine there again. We ended up eating at Johnny Rockets with two of our friends and everybody seemed to enjoy the food quite a bit. My wife thought the burgers were a bit greasy but that was the only negative comment in the group. The rest of our meals were primarily from the Windjammer with a few visits to the Solarium. The Windjammer was OK though quite noisy and crowded. We preferred the Solarium overall but the selection was more limited than the Windjammer. In the future we would probably skip the specialty dining entirely and concentrate on scheduled dining in the main dining room. As a side note, our friends tried on multiple nights to get seated as a group of seven in the main dining room for anytime dining. They were not allowed to make reservations at all and when they showed up for standby seating the were turned away. It made such a poor impression I doubt they will sail with Royal Caribbean again. For the ports we visited Coco Cay, Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cozumel. At Coco Cay our group bought waterpark passes and had a good time. I tried snorkeling over by Chill Island but didn’t see anything worth mentioning. I think the waterpark tickets were overpriced but I’d probably buy them again. In Costa Maya my daughter and I booked a two tank dive directly with Doctor Dive, and in Roatan we booked a two tank dive with Sun Divers. Both experiences were excellent and priced reasonably. I would easily book with either again but if I had to choose a favorite I would take Sun Divers again over Doctor Dive. Sun Divers provided the transportation and they had an excellent bar next door to hang out in while waiting for a ride back. (If you go say hi to Leslie the Irish ex-pat bartender and don’t forget to get a lap dance from bar security.) I would also say the reef was more vibrant in Roatan. My wife chose to shop with friends in both ports. Costa Maya had a better port but the shops were very redundant. Roatan is currently working on expanding their port but for some reason they liked the limited shopping there better. For Cozumel we decided to go to Xcaret via an excursion offered by Royal Caribbean. Xcaret was great but we really needed more time there. The travel in each direction was about 2 hours and included a very bumpy ferry ride and bus ride. We had a relatively calm day on the ferry crossing but they still needed to hand out quite a few vomit bags. After all the travel was done we were left with a little under 5 hours at Xcaret. We got back to the ship late which left no time to shop in port at all. Overall, I’m glad we went, but I wouldn’t repeat it or necessarily recommend it to others. Onboard ship we saw three shows and tried the escape room. We enjoyed the shows and would probably book them again on a future cruise. The escape room was enjoyable but I probably wouldn’t repeat it unless they changed the puzzle. Members of our group also tried the slides, mini-golf, zipline, pools, and carousel and seemed to enjoy them. The self serve ice cream machine was a big hit with everybody. We didn’t do any shopping on board and the few watches I was interested in were cheaper on Amazon. We got the internet package for 2 devices and it worked well but I didn’t personally use it much. We also got the deluxe beverage package and got our value out of it without too much effort. For disembarkation we chose to use the luggage valet service and self disembark at 7am. Luggage valet was $25 per person and well worth the price. We tagged our 6 checked bags the night before and had them in the hallway by 10pm. We didn’t see them again until we got them at the airport when we got home the next day. We got off the ship just after 7am, picked up our rental car at National, and arrived at Orlando International by 8:15am. Dropping off the car at National was very quick and since our boarding passes were pre-printed by Royal Caribbean we were through security and at the gate by 9am. While we got there very quickly from the ship I would still never book a flight before 1pm or so. If you are unlucky enough to get a coast guard inspection it can delay everyone’s disembarkation by hours. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and would happily do it again. On our next cruise… We will buy the deluxe beverage package. We won’t buy the dining package. We will book private excursions as long as they are close to the ship. We will get a scheduled time to dine in the main dining room. We will use the luggage valet service and probably use Southwest earlybird check in. We will probably book at least a Jr. Suite, having the elbow room and closet was worth it. We will always fly in the day before the cruise to reduce stress levels. Read Less

This was our family's third cruise. We have kids ages 7 and 8 that came with us and thoroughly enjoyed the entire trip. Previously, we cruised on an older Carnival ship (Ecstasy) and Disney Magic. We loved Disney for the food, larger staterooms, and Disney activities/characters. Our cruise on Harmony was full but it never felt too crowded. We were sure to book all of our shows at 90 days beforehand and got all the times we wanted. The shows were wonderful. Our favorites were the aqua shows and ventriloquist. The sports staff were amazing and we tried nearly all the sports...zipline, boogie boarding, miniature golf, rock climbing, slides, and others. The main dining room was mostly excellent. Service was great, no complaints there. We usually finished within 1.5 hrs which was perfect for our kids as they cannot sit longer than that. We enjoyed almost every dish we had. The sides were usually repetitive but were good. We only did the Windjammer once for dinner but we loved all the choices. Breakfast at all complimentary locations were all about the same, nothing that stood out there. The desserts were lacking at all places except the MDR. Most desserts were mousse style and not very sweet. The staterooms were clean and our steward was very nice. The bed was very firm so after the first night I asked guest services to correct this and they did immediately. Our bed was much softer the second night and very comfortable. The toilets flushing in rooms above and below are very loud so we requested a box fan to use and this helped some. Our kids only went to Adventure Ocean twice. Our oldest said the boys were too rough and did not want to go back. It seems they play a lot of games that involve running or throwing balls and she got hit a couple times. I think if she had went to the club in the morning or afternoon it would not have been as crowded or chaotic. Overall, we loved our cruise and would definitely consider RCI again. We do not love the Caribbean ports so will likely choose another destination next time. Highly recommend Harmony of the Seas. Read Less

Western Caribbean 7 night cruise, family with 1 teenage son. From a very speedy embarkation through to the just as speedy disembarkation the week was great. We never had a bad meal and our very picky teenager always found something to eat. We did my time dining and the food and service was excellent. Plenty to do on board for the kids as well as the adults. The ship never felt overcrowded even when we had a day of rain, so many places for people to disperse to. Never had a problem getting a bed round the pool and the shop was at capacity. Drinks package was well worth it for us not just for the alcohol but also the bottled water and specialty coffee during they day. Outside balcony cabin was they biggest cabin we have ever had on any ship with a bigger than average shower cubicle. This was our 3rd Royal Caribbean cruise but the 1st on a huge ship and It didn’t disappoint. Read Less

My wife and I sailed on the Harmony of the Seas for the third time, embarking in Port Canaveral and sailing to the Eastern Caribbean on September 15, 2019. My wife has to use a wheelchair for going more than short distances; therefore, this review will highlight our wheelchair experience (perhaps providing an assist to someone looking into travelling with a wheelchair), followed by highlights of the ship staff and the food. Wheelchair experience: A critical key to a very good wheelchair experience is letting Royal Caribbean know your need and plans. They will provide a “pusher” and a wheelchair if requested. We have our own wheelchair, needed to get into the terminal when boarding and back to our vehicle when leaving. Pushers are available just inside the terminal entry for people who use their wheelchairs. They did guide us through a wheelchair dedicated security line and up to the boarding area on the second floor. A ship crew member becomes the “pusher” in that area and got us up the ramp and onto the ship. The pusher continued until we arrived on deck 17 at the Coastal Kitchen and Concierge Lounge, a terrific assistance because we had small carry-on luggage pieces. (Don’t forget to tip). There is no on-board wheelchair assistance. We found most passengers to be very considerate of our wheelchair situation when entering and exiting elevators and venues. It does require an occasional wait when elevators are full. Major venues like the theater, ice rink and aqua theater have places for guests in wheelchairs. The Windjammer also has reserved tables for wheelchair users. Disembarkation also requires a little planning. “Pushers” are made available and there is a meeting area for them. We met ours in the concierge lounge and were guided very quickly off the ship to the transportation area. Elapsed time for the process was about fifteen minutes. The key, again, was planning and coordination with the RCCL and ship’s staff. Wheelchairs can make for awkward and difficult inconveniences. RCCL and the Harmony of the Seas staff eliminated those for us. Harmony staff: The ship’s staff were excellent! They were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and cheerful. Their service started with the Greeting staff in the terminal, the pushers, and security. It continued to the Coastal Kitchen assistant maître d and concierges to our room steward. It continued with the casino staff and venue hosts. It is nice to introduce ourselves and learn a little about several of the staff members, many worth noting here. Our room steward, Janelly, was cheerful and met our expectations for every action we needed. The Asst. Maitre D, Ace Angeles and his assistant Nino efficiently seated us at every meal we had in the Coastal Kitchen. The wait staff included, John, Steve, Laurance, Dana, Rico and Lotoyo as well as a few others. The Coastal Kitchen process allowed us to meet several of them. The Chef, Henry, was also out and about at nearly every meal. Express any concern and Ace was on it. The concierges Jeremias and Mohammed were available and happily assisted with reservations and wheelchair arrangements. The “Next Cruise” bookers, Ines and Emma, were expert and efficient. Notably, Melbourne, a ship bartender was our pusher getting off the ship followed by Brian who got us to the transportation area. Want to learn about the home countries of the staff members? Just start the conversation. We met staff from the Philippines, Ireland, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Florida, Bosnia, Jamaica, China, and Ukraine. Many had several years of experience with Royal Caribbean and had travelled on many ships to several countries. They frequently have great hints for places to see and visit. Food: Dining is a primary reason we enjoy cruising. Royal Caribbean and the Harmony of the Seas do a good job at presenting good food efficiently. It is a great opportunity to try foods that would normally be unavailable or unknown. Most of the foods we tried were very good. There were a couple we tried that we didn’t care for. We ate most breakfasts and dinners in the Coastal Kitchen, a few lunches in the Windjammer and one lunch each in Sabor and Izumi’s teppanyaki (prepared at the table). Breakfast choices included more than we would ever select from a la carte to a full breakfast. Eggs any way we wanted, Belgium waffles, bacon and sausage, pancakes, juices, toast including a bun like sourdough, fruits, and very good coffee. The waffles with syrup, whipped cream and fruit were especially good. The Windjammer buffet lunches were excellent opportunities to try new or unusual (to us) dishes. Salads, burgers (good meat), roasts, chicken, and pasta were always there. Ethnic choices included American, Oriental/Asian, Indian, and Mexican. There were numerus dessert choices including three flavors of ice cream every day. We had a Mexican food lunch at Sabor on the Boardwalk. Nice choices and flavors. We also had lunch in Izumi with meat and seafood choices. Both gave us more than we could eat. There was a charge for these lunches in the specialty restaurants. Dinners in the Coastal Kitchen included choices of appetizers, soups and salads, and entrees. We had filet mignon, prime rib, branzino, cod, lamb loin, shrimp cocktail, crab crusted flounder, roast duck, lobster, baked Alaska, ice cream, creme brulee, and nice selections of breads. The fish are usually nice choices on cruises with the branzino and cod being especially good. The meals in the Coastal Kitchen were served by a very experienced group of waiters, and prepared by Chef Henry and his staff. There are several other dining venues on the ship including the cafes, Sorrento pizza, the solarium bistro, Johnny Rockets, and the other specialty restaurants. Too many for us to try this cruise. Conclusion: The RCCL Harmony of the Seas cruise experience was very nice. We got along well with the wheelchair. We enjoyed the services of a very professional and experienced staff. We chose this cruise for a family vacation and it did not disappoint! What an amazing ship and the staff was wonderful. It never felt overly crowded and we hardly ever had to wait in lines except for my time dining and that was not bad at all. We had 7:45pm reservations every night and we waited maybe 15 to 20 mins tops. We sailed from Port Canaveral. Embarkation and Disembarkation were a breeze! We drove and tipped a porter on the sidewalk to take our bags. We then practically walked right onto the ship with no lines or problems whatsoever! The ship was amazing. It was so clean and there was plenty to do as far as entertainment and activities. We did see Grease and the Fine Line Aqua show. Both were wonderful although Grease was a bit long. My only complaint is that they charged for popcorn for the show. I thought that was a bit cheap but the entertainment was excellent. We also caught the Love and Marriage show, which was quite funny and a couple of pool contests like sexy man and belly flop. These are always fun and entertaining. Our children are 18 and 20 so we really enjoyed the solarium in the late afternoons. It would have been nice to have a pool in the solarium but the hot tubs were wonderful and plentiful with cooling stations. There always seemed to be plenty of pool chairs and we never felt like the ship was over the top crowded. For dining, we did the my time dining because there were no reservations left. This was our first time doing that. It was nice to be able to go whenever if we didn’t show up right on time for our reservation but we missed not getting to know a specific group of servers. We had a different set of servers every night. The service was good but not as good as what we have experienced when we had regular times and the same set of servers. We did not choose any specialty dining as we have done this on past cruises and do not find the food to be that much better. The windjammer was the best windjammer we have eaten at so far with a large variety of quality good food available. The solarium restaurant had a nice salad bar. The park cafe had a wonderful selection of paninis for lunch and breakfast. Sorrentos Pizza was good. There was always a nice selection of pizza. Small bites was the only place to get chips and cheese unless you pay at Sabor, which we did not. They were just ok. We had nice chips and salsa off the boat but it would be nice if they would bring this back in the windjammer with Guacomole and some chunk cheese and crackers. We did not get a chance to try the dog house. We did order coffee and basic fruit as room service but the options are limited for breakfast and we enjoyed main dining and park cafe for our breakfast options. Overall the food was very good. The bars were great! We really enjoyed the Mimosas and Bloody Mary bar in the pub. The schooner bar is always a fav and their lavender daquari is amazing! Boleros has a coconut mojito that is wonderful. Wonderland is fun to pop into for a nice drink and to check out the scenery. Vintages had a nice wine selection. All the pool bars were great with very little wait time and the solarium was the best. All staff were polite and quick. The customer service on this ship is top notch! Our cabin was on the 7th floor. We had an extended balcony. It was wonderful. The rooms on this ship are laid out so nice with lots of storage space and drawers for clothes. We each had our own closet on either side of the room. The bathroom was roomier than any of the other royal ships we have been on. Our stateroom attendant was our favorite so far. She went out of her way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. The excursions were great. Coco Cay is wonderful and it is so nice that Royal honors your drink package and food on the island. The lunch was wonderful. We stayed on Chill Island for most of the day and did go to the pool with swim up bar for a bit. It was busy but so fun. We ended up spending $40 on 2 lounge mats for the day for the beach. I’m not sure that was worth it. I noticed some people brought their own small blow up loungers with netting and I would probably pack something easy like that for next time but the loungers were nice. Next we went to Cozumel and ended up booking an excursion at Mr. Sanchos all Inclusive. It was awesome and we cant wait to go back. I reviewed that on Trip Advisor and that is where I found them. Next, we went to Honduras. I booked Little French Key all island access pass. This was amazing!!! I booked directly online and have also reviewed them on Trip Advisor as this is where I found this excursion. Last we went to Costa Maya. We just got off the ship and shopped around the port. It was a lot of aggressive vendors on the inside that were willing to cut the prices if you started to walk away and a lot of expensive vendors in stores surrounding this. I probably would not get off the ship next time. They did have a pool and swim up bar people seemed to be enjoying. Overall this is our 7th cruise and the best yet! I sailed with my two adult children and 8 yr old granddaughter. We chose this ship for her and the myriad of things for her to do. The ship is beautiful and my cabin, a superior balcony, was very roomy with a lot of storage. The balcony was roomy also, with two lounge chairs and foot rests. We dined in many different areas of the ship. The Icon restaurant, one of the main dining rooms we loved. The food was very good and many choices. Breakfast and lunch can be al a cart or buffet style. But patrons are allowed to do both if they desire. The buffet, was also good. We rotated all of them with the MDR except on formal nights. No dressing up for this group. There are many activities available for adults and children. My granddaughter enjoyed the children's club and the many slides and pools that were available. The shows were good and were enjoyed by all. Very talented people on board. Don't miss the Aqua show. The ports were not great, with Roatan, being the worst if you do not scuba. And most of all, the service was great. We had no complaints. The MDR waiters are attentive and helpful. Thank you to Chris at breakfast, and Win at dinner. Now, for the disappointments. We drove to Port Canaveral. There was no signage available, to guide us to the terminal. I rented a scooter from Special Needs Group and I was not pleased. The scooter would not hold it's charge and it just stopped twice and almost left me stranded. For this reason, I did not get off the ship. It was charged daily overnight and once in the afternoon for two hours, to get me through the evening. It should have some kind of odometer available to let the person how far they have traveled. I do not think I exceeded the distance, since I was just on the ship. I did file a claim and they said it would take one week to review. I am anxious to see what happens. Even with these problems, I would go on this ship again, only with a different itinerary. Read Less

EMBARKATION-Very organized, quick, and easy DEBARKATION-Easy and well explained the night before and the day of leaving SHIP-Exceptional, elevators can be a problem on Embarkation and Debarkation,also after the popular shows. Best to take stairs, if you are able. Staterooms are very adequate for three people, four people would be tight. Bathrooms are definitely a one person only. Definitely bring your own shampoo and conditioner (none provided). Our room 12581 & 12580 were well appointed and very quiet. Water slide lines can get long, but they move quickly and they are well worth the wait. The Abyss, dry slide, is fun, but not as challenging or scary as they make it sound. Many of the activities are well supervised and cover everyone’s choices from small children to adults. SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS- 150 North Central, Chops Grille, and Izumi Hibachi are amazing. Service was outstanding and menu choices covered anyone’s pallet from meat to vegetarian. Beef choices was excellent and very good quality. Seafood was very tender, large portions and the shrimp was large and meaty. AMERICAN ICON GRILL DINING ROOM-Service was excellent and main entree choices was excellent. EXCURSIONS-Perfect Day at CocoCay for our day was cut short due to severe storms. While we were able to go on the slides before the storms rolled in, were a lot of fun and yes, the lines do get very long. If there is lightning within 10 miles of the island all water slides get shut down. They do reopen when they get the “all clear” signal. Unfortunately their was such a severe storm that hit the island they shut down the island and very efficiently had everyone get back on the ship. Royal Caribbean is such a high class ship they refunded everyone’s money if they paid for the Thrillpark portion of the island. St. Thomas-We had seen the town and did shopping on pervious cruises, so we opted for the St. John On Your Own. DO NOT , I repeat DO NOT. Do this tour!! This was totally misrepresented in the excursion detail. It showed and explained that you would be dropped off at a beach and be picked up at a designated time to get back to the ship. WRONG! We were dropped off at a pier and told if you want a beach you had to walk three miles one way in very unsafe conditions. Dirt, rocks, and stones on a man made path. Nobody knew that we went this way and we were all in bathing suits and flip flops. Finally made it to Honeymoon Beach, no chairs, no drinking water, and nothing around. Please do not do this tour especially if you have younger children. St. Maarten- we chose the Power Boat tour with lunch. Well worth the money and excellent narration of the island and the many different areas. Overall this was more than all of us ever expected. Looking forward to going on another Royal Caribbean cruise in two years. Have to save money for the newer ship in 2021. Read Less

Making the free reservations to be closer to the stage was nice. The Rising Tide Bar was fun. But make sure you use the restroom before time for it to rise because it will rise without you. So your spouse might be traveling without you on board. Remember you can always catch it in Central Park if that happens to you. Also if you want a lounge chair near which ever pool you pick be there very early. Guest will put a towel on 15 chairs even if their friends and family aren't there yet. Some people are very inconsiderate. This is my second cruise on Royal Caribbean, but I have cruised on another cruise line about 8 times. I will be cruising again. Read Less

I traveled on this cruise with my (extended) family, including 2 children. We had a great time. The kids loved the buffet, and one enjoyed the kids' club and the sushi classes. I took the other on the "all access" tour--it was expensive as heck, but I don't regret spending the money. The food at the buffet was good, especially the curries. The MDR did a decent lunch and an elaborate-looking buffet. My cabin was nice--the porthole window was great. My steward was attentive and nice--I actually ran into him "too" often because the facilities he needed were close by. He always seemed to be standing in the corridor when I went to my cabin. The shows were all wonderful, although the comedians were a 7 out of 10 at best. Labadee was fantastic. Maho Beach was theoretically very good, but that excursion didn't go terribly well for me in a few ways. All of the members of my party took issue with the safety video at muster, with one going so far as to address it with an officer. I really hope Royal does something about it. It's a waste of time AND doesn't impart the needed safety information. It fails in every way. Another member of my party was upset at being unable to book our group into dinner (MDR) a good 3 or 4 days in advance. Someone else went to Guest Services over it and got it fixed, leading to the first person being even more upset that it seemed to be about who you know or "who" is asking--in other words, why deny the first request and then have another crew member override it? People shouldn't have to go to Guest Services for a simple dinner reservation. Embarkation went fine. The transfer to and from the airport also went fine. I was on Symphony of the Seas not long before this one, and they were pretty indistinguishable. I'd be happy to sail on either one again if it fit my plans and needs. Read Less

My wife and I sailed on Oasis of the Seas last year and decided then how much fun a family cruise would be. We booked our Harmony of the Seas trip while on Oasis. We had both our children and their families with us. Grandchildren ranged from 5 to 18, and all 11 of us had a ball. The balcony rooms, drink packages for adults, and non alcoholic packages for everyone else made this extra special. We didn’t eat at any of the specialty restaurants but didn’t need to. Our 16 year old granddaughter took pictures of her dinner multiple times to send to friends because it always seemed special and fancy. She also took full advantage of the running track with our daughter every morning. Puerto Rico was canceled due to unrest there, but there was so much to do on the boat we didn’t miss it much. We attended all of the shows, did putt putt, rock climbing wall, zip line, and all of the slides multiple times. We also did the beach rendezvous to Kim Shaw beach and found it better than expected. Lunch was top notch and drinks were included. We all loved Labadee. The older kids did the zip line, and the younger kids did the coaster with a parent. When my wife and I went last year the line for lunch was an issue on Labadee, but this year it wasn’t a problem at all. We also managed to ’Escape the Rubicon’. All of the staff on Royal Caribbean were super friendly, the kids loved the washy washy girl, and our waiters were almost like family each night. This was a dream Cruise for all of us. My wife and I have only sailed on Royal Caribbean and we see no reason to change to anything else. Read Less

We took our adult kids and grand kids (19 in total) and chose this ship because we had done Oasis in the past and the kids liked it. Also, we live in central Florida so it was easy to get everyone to the ship. The Harmony was nothing short of spectacular. We parked at Park Port Canaveral lot and got to the ship fairly early (noon) so check-in was a breeze. We were hesitant to do the buffet on embarkation day so we went to the Solarium buffet instead. It was much quieter and the food was fine. Dining: We had early dining for the group (2 tables of 10) and the only disappointment was that they have moved the dining to 5:00. That is very early, particularly on a port day. But we couldn't do my-time dining for a group of 19. The ages ranged from 5-up and all enjoyed the food immensely. We had 2 different waiters and asst. waiters and all were some of the best we have had on our 42 cruises. Nobody had a 'bad' meal any evening. Even the free steaks were quite good. Our teenaged grand kids are huge eaters and the waiters seemed to love trying to fill them up. We usually ate breakfast and lunch in the restaurant also and the food and service were great. We did have lunch at Jaimie's Italian in Central Park one day and it was fabulous. I highly recommend it. Ports: The revamped Coco Cay is beautiful with much better seating and more food options. Some of our group paid for the water park and were disappointed with the very long lines and crowds. They said that they would not do it again in the future. St. Thomas and St. Martin were simply standard Caribbean islands. Certainly nothing special. The kids all did water-related shore excursions and were happy with them. Entertainment: Here is where we had some disappointments. Usually we love the ice skating and aqua shows. The shows on the Harmony were terrible. They made no sense and were not well-choreographed. Neither show did a good job of showing off the talents of the young performers. Everyone leaving the Fine Line Aqua Show was saying 'what the heck was that all about?'. Really bad. 'Grease' was fine (singing, acting all ok) but we were surprised at the amount of sexual innuendo since we had 9 kids under age 18 there. The one bright spot was the group Mo5aic. We had seen them on the Oasis and they were fantastic. Activities: There seemed to be the standard activities and nobody seemed bored. We had good weather so the kids spent a lot of time on the water slides. We like to dance, though, and found there was basically no chance for ballroom/swing type of dancing. We were on the ship on the 4th of July and they did a great celebration. The running track was great as usual as was the gym. All the staff seemed happy and seemed to enjoy this ship. Complaints (gotta have a couple): This ship has the HOTTEST elevators we have ever experienced. No air conditioning and very crowded. Everyone was talking about it. Miserable when you were stopping at every floor. Prices of drinks. It used to be that drink prices were about half of what you would pay in a restaurant. Now they are more than you would pay. We paid $42 for a bottle of wine that we purchase regularly for $12. Our kids were glad that they had carried on wine and just had a glass in their room before dinner. Hi, I have received so much help from posts on Cruise Critic, I thought I would pay it forward with my own review of our seven-day cruise last week on Harmony of the Seas. First, a little info about us. I was traveling with my DH, his three siblings and their families. There were 11 of us (six cabins) and we were all on Deck 9, forward. My DH and I have cruised many times on RC, but none of the other folks had ever been on a cruise. Since our nieces are in college and our nephews in high school, we didn’t experience Adventure Ocean or the teen programs. We all arrived in Cocoa Beach the afternoon before and stayed at the Holiday Inn-Cocoa Beach, next to the Publix. We hit a slight snafu when the hotel decided to arbitrarily change our hotel rate ($40-per-room increase). We had a copy of our confirmation with the rate displayed, but we were told that they could change the rate at check-in. The desk staff was not very friendly and we had to call corporate to get it resolved. Not a great way to start a vacation, but we vowed not to let it damper our trip. Because of the way we were treated and spoken to, I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The next morning, we took a private shuttle, booked via Larry’s Limos, and arrived at the terminal at 10 a.m. since I like to get to the ship early! In fact, we also used Larry’s Limos for our shuttle from MCO to the hotel the night before and I highly recommend them. Very fair rates, and they were very prompt and friendly! Security and check-in were a breeze and we were walking on the ship around 11 a.m. Of all the embarkation ports we have used, Port Canaveral was the easiest and quickest that I have experienced. They have really figured it out! We headed to the Windjammer for lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the ship. Muster went very smoothly and we set sail promptly at 4:30 p.m. The rest of the review, I will break down in categories. CABINS We were all on Deck 9 forward, near the elevators. Two of us had balconies and had the divider removed. The other four were inside cabins directly across the hall. My sister-in-law had connecting cabins with her two sons. All of us commented that there was plenty of storage room. I was impressed with how the bathrooms were laid out. Plenty of storage and the shower seemed bigger than smaller ships we have sailed on. Because there was so much to do on the ship, we really didn’t spend much time there other than to sleep and dress. DINING We did not eat at any specialty restaurants, so I can’t comment on them. We had breakfast each morning in the Solarium Bistro and loved the quiet atmosphere versus the Windjammer. It’s the same food, but less people and a more relaxing area. We also had lunch either in the Solarium Bistro or Windjammer, based on what part of the ship we were at once we realized we were hungry! I realize food is very subjective, but we enjoyed the breakfast and lunch offerings at both locations. For dinner, we had early Traditional Dining in Silk. Our oldest niece has severe food allergies and the staff was wonderful in addressing her concerns and providing her meals each night without the worry of an allergic reaction. In fact, the waiters and entire staff provided top-notch service to all of us each night. The food was very good, and my only “criticism” is that I have noticed over the years that the offerings tend to repeat more than they used to. SHOWS We had reserved all the shows prior to sailing, so we had no problems seeing them. The Fine Line was fabulous! By far the best show at sea I have ever seen, especially considering we were on a moving ship as they were performing their high-flying acrobatics. The second aqua show later in the week was fun, if not a little “campy.” We also enjoyed Columbus and the ice show, 1887. Again, Columbus was a little “campy,” but it was funny and enjoyable. The comedians on board were also very good and provided a lot of entertainment. I did not see Grease, but those in our group who did attend really liked it. The only show none of us made it to was the Headliner Show. GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT We saw a few entertainers at Dazzles. Very good singers and the variety of music offered something for everyone. Some of us participated in karaoke and we only wished it was offered earlier than 11 p.m. so we could have participated more often. CASINO The casino was a pretty good size and we never really had trouble finding a seat at the blackjack table. Half of the casino allows smoking and the ventilation system worked pretty well in keeping the air pretty good. I wish they didn’t allow smoking at all, but it didn’t bother us too much. The wait staff was a little slow at times bringing drinks. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES We were lucky to have fabulous weather the entire week, so the pools and whirlpools were always crowded. That being said, our group never had trouble finding lounge chairs by the pools and we never had to deal with “chair hogs.” The kids enjoyed the water slides as well. We also played mini-golf and table tennis. None of us dared to try the flow riders, but enjoyed watching those who did. A couple of us experienced the Abyss and zip-line and enjoyed those as well. COCO CAY Since my husband and I aren’t really “beach people,” we decided to stay on the ship and explore. The rest of our family spent the day there and really enjoyed swimming and hanging out at Chill Island. They all said they would love to go back again. They did not use the water park or other “paid” options. ST. THOMAS We did not book an excursion, but took a taxi into Charlotte Amalie and went shopping for jewelry and other souvenirs. All the taxis have specific rates posted based on where you want to go, so no one needs to negotiate or worry about being taken advantage of. After shopping, we took another taxi from downtown to Magens Bay. We took a wild ride over the mountains to see this beautiful beach. The roads are very narrow and the locals seem to have no fear when navigating them! We really enjoyed Magens Bay before heading back to the ship. Our taxi driver also stopped at a couple of lookout points for us to take pictures. All in all, we all enjoyed St. Thomas. ST. MAARTEN This was my first time back to St. Maarten since the hurricane and you can still see restoration projects in process. Our group took the ship’s excursion to Maho Beach. Many in our family are aerospace enthusiasts, so we really enjoyed spending the day watching the planes land. This really isn’t a swimming beach (there was noticeably less sand than our previous visit before the hurricane), but our nieces and nephews did take a dip in the water. The adjacent restaurant, Sunset Beach, offers a great outdoor space to sit and have lunch while watching the planes land. We all enjoyed having a Guavaberry Daiquiri with our meal. The food was excellent and plentiful as well. Typically, I am not a big fan of large groups on a tour. However, this time, it worked well since we were only going to one location and no one on the bus was interested in stopping for optional photo ops or stopping in downtown for shopping. PORT CANAVERAL I have cruised out of many different ports over the years and this was by far the best experience I have had with a port. From baggage handling to check-in to customs and ground transportation, it was such a smooth experience. I look forward to many more cruises out of Port Canaveral! GENERAL OBSERVATIONS We booked this specific cruise because we knew Harmony would offer something for everyone. Harmony is a beautiful ship and in great shape! It was so smooth, it didn't feel like you were on a ship. Before the cruise, I was concerned about potential crowding problems. These concerns were unfounded as the layout of the ship and “neighborhoods” really spread folks around. The only time I really noticed the crowds was when the shows let out and at lunch at the Windjammer. Almost everyone on the ship seemed to be having fun and we only observed a couple of people who weren’t in the best of moods. This was a fabulous vacation for our entire family and are thrilled that our “cruise newbies” really loved the cruising experience. Read Less

We' cruised on the Allure out of Ft Lauderdale the past two years and wanted to try a new new ship. We traveled to CoCo Cay, St Thomas and St Marteen on the trip. OUr daughter and her best friend just graduated from college and the trip was a gift to them. We took the Cortrans shuttle service from the Embassy Suites airport hotel in Orlando to the cruise port and from the cruise port to the airport at the end of the cruise. Relatively inexpensive, timely, friendly and comfortable. Embarking at Port Canaveral was a breeze. On the ship in 15 minutes from the time we stepped off the shuttle. The Harmony is big, beautiful, and busy. Longer lines than the Allure, but nothing severe. All the shows were fantastic, and the food was great. We tried the Abyss slide (very cool, only slightly terrifying at the beginning) and the water slides. Both were fun. We also did the Escape Room on the trip and found it very entertaining. We did "escape" with ten minutes to spare lol. We've done the zip line and rock climbing on previous cruises. The water view rooms we booked (3654, 3656) were fantastic! Quiet, convenient and perfectly situated. After the cruise the wife and I both agreed that we liked it better than our previous interior balcony view rooms on deck 12 on the Allure. Steps from the elevator and main dining room, but around a corner so there wasn't much foot traffic going by, and plenty of room to move inside, with lots of storage. St Thomas, St Johns and St Marteen have all come a long way from the hurricane damage of 2017. We love St. Marteen and toured the nation park on St. Johns. It was incredibly beautiful and we would love to go back. On St Marteen we toured Ft Luis in Marigot and took the See and Sea tour at Grand Case. Much cooler than I expected! Saw sting rays, sea turtles and a barracuda at the reef. The "kids" did the sting ray excursion at Coco Cay and the Sea Lion excursion at St. Thomas and can't stop talking about them. And speaking of, Coco Cay was wonderful. Lots of activities on the island, beautiful beaches and the water was amazing. We went kayaking and saw coral reefs and sting rays swimming by. Also spent some time swimming in the huge freshwater pool. We both liked it even more than Labadee. Dining room was excellent as always and it seemed that the staff on the entire ship have been given happy pills. The crew members on RCCL have always been great, but this was over the top. You always felt like a VIP every time you interacted with a crew member. All in all a great time! Read Less

This cruise ship was amazing and the staff was really nice and informative. After watching YouTube videos I had expectations of the embarkation and disembarkation to be a madhouse and frustration. But to my surprise both the embarkation and disembarkation was really smooth. We got to the terminal around 11:00 and we was on the ship by 11:30. (we did online check in prior, which I highly recommend) As far as disembarkation we left around 9:00 we waited in line to get off of ship for like 20 mins. Our suitcases were easy to find as well. Overall for disembarkation it took us like 45 mins to actually get in the shuttle to go to the airport. The ship was sold out so we had close to 6,000 people and yet it didn’t feel crowded. We wasn’t bumping into each other. The ship was so nice and clean. My husband and I stayed in a ocean view balcony cabin and it was spacious. I wasn’t feeling our stewardess, I feel she could had been a little more attentive. We had prepurchased dinner for 2 specialty dining and let me tell you that we wasted our money. The food nor the wait staff was good. We went to 150 Central and Chops Grill and we were so disappointed. We had a reservation for hibachi for our anniversary but we cancelled and got a refund because we were afraid we would had the same bad experience that we had with the other two restaurants. But let me tell you... the main dining for dinner was really good. Also the windjammer for breakfast and lunch was on point. They had plenty to choose from and the food was delicious. We saw the shows and hands down the best one to me was Columbus. Grease was not good at all!!! It was too long ( 90 mins) and boring. If we weren’t sitting in the middle of the row we would had been left and found something more exciting. The karaoke had limited out of date songs. They really need to update this. But overall this was a nice experience and I most definitely will go again. Next year we are doing the Symphony of the Seas only because it’s a littler bigger than Harmony and I want to see what it has to offer. Read Less

Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas relocated to Port Canaveral on May 6th and made its first seven day sailing on May 12th. My wife and I, along with several neighbors and friends, booked the cruise shortly after the relocation announcement. We all live less than one hour from Port Canaveral so the Harmony will be our home port RCCL ship. The Harmony will be sailing from terminal one, a relatively modern port designed for the Oasis class ships. So we had a new ship, a new port, a new terminal and the first seven day cruise. We booked a grand suite so we have the Harmony and a suite experience from its new home port. Nice! Embarkation: Efficient and fast. The process starts with a check of paperwork followed by a security check. Check-in begins before 11:00 am but boarding doesn’t begin until about 11:00 am. A lot of people check in early and wait in a large holding area. There is a separate, adjacent holding area with comfortable chairs and couches for suite, diamond plus, and pinnacle members. It is not real large. Check-in is done using iPads, so having checked in on line and holding a sea pass and passport are necessary. Photos may be taken with their iPads if necessary. Boarding is done orderly with the priority area boarding first followed by each RCCL cruisers’ status, so loyalty does have rewards. We have our own wheelchair so we were met by a “pusher” at the terminal entry who guided us through the process and on to the ship. We did call ahead to ask for assistance and it was provided willingly. Dozens of passengers were in the same situation, some with their own wheelchairs and some just needing one of the RCCL’s chairs to get up the ramp onboard. Ship: The Harmony is an Oasis class ship with more up-to-date features that one would expect with newer ships. The iPad check-in system is the first of the new features. The card key system that uses a touch process (touch the cabin door) rather than a slide or insert system for use around the ship. The casino slot machines, for instance, use the touch process so no more concerns about leaving your room key in a slot machine. There are digital and interactive displays in many places around the ship. There are new water slides and even a dry slide, a huge multi-story slide called the “Abyss”. Apparently, the RCCL app is useful on board the ship for getting a variety of information. We left our iPhone in the cabin and got along just fine. It is newer, nicer and more modern than its sister the Oasis and the Allure, as would be expected. Restaurants, Food and Service: All the restaurants we sampled had excellent food and service. Our primary breakfast and dinner restaurant was the Coastal Kitchen on deck 17 that is reserved for suite guests and pinnacle cruising status members. The Assistant Maitre D’, Ace, leads an excellent staff who are seasoned veterans. Ace described the process for becoming a staff member and the results have produced some of the best servers. They all have different personalities but work very well together. Ace rotates the waiters among tables so it is easy to meet most of them in a week. The food was very tasty and nicely presented. Chef Henry led the kitchen staff and was out sampling feedback from guests. I try fish at many meals. The branzino was the best. The lobster, cod and shrimp were also nice. We ate in the Windjammer for a few lunches. The food was very good and a nice variety was presented. Some people miss the pasta bar and desserts, complete with ice cream located toward the back of the ship (aft). We also had lunched in the Sabor and Izumi restaurants. Both are recommended. Casino: The Harmony of the Seas has a large, brightly lit and active casino on deck four. It contains a wide selection of modern slot machines and table games. There is seldom a time when there are no places or machines to play. We had no problems. The casino uses the “tap the card key” process for logging on to each machine when played. The computer awards points for play that can be redeemed for cash and used for awards of small discounts on future cruises, although the restrictions are pretty stiff. Onboard credit can be redeemed at the machines and cash can be charged to the cabin. No more standing in line and having the cashier handle the transactions. There are also machines for cashing in chits, much like on land casinos. Interestingly, the casino is open a lot more than in the past. It was closed only for the port of St. Thomas on this trip. We enjoyed playing every day that the casino was open. Our favorite time is in the mornings while the place is quiet. The downside of the casino is that smoking is allowed in one area. Smokers, many who do not play, just use it as a smoking lounge. A real negative and no one but the smokers’ benefit. Suite Experience: We have enjoyed the experiences and the benefits of ship suites for a while. They may be of interest to some readers. First, the cabins and the benefits do cost more, sometimes a lot more. It might be worth a try once, but be careful as it is easy to get hooked. Hint: Suite cabins sell out very early in the booking process so procrastination can cost you your favorite location. We book at least six months in advance and normally a year. We tried four months recently and the selection was limited. The experience starts at embarkation. The terminal has a special, comfortable lounge for waiting embarkation. Suites are the first to board so you can beat the race to the restaurants. The Coastal Kitchen and the adjacent suite lounge are open so it is an opportunity to relax then have a nice lunch at noon, when the restaurant opens. Snacks and beverages are also available in the lounge area. The cabin is the next benefit to experience. The grand suite is 371 square feet with a 105 square foot balcony. It has a bedroom, TV room, two TVs, large bath with combined tub and shower, an entryway with a bar, lots of storage space, a safe, coffee maker and large balcony. Treats are delivered a couple of times during the cruise. The concierges, Elaine and Checker, are located in the suite lounge area and are helpful in making reservations and arrangements as well as answering questions. The Coastal Kitchen is open for every meal. Breakfast and lunch require no reservations but dinner does. Sometimes there is a waiting list for dinner. The food and service, as mentioned above are superior. Assistant Maitre D’, Ace, and Chef Henry do an excellent job managing the operation. There is also an outdoor suite pool and lounge area. We did not partake in that benefit. Reserved seating is available for suite guests in the ice, aqua and main theaters. A special area is saved until about ten minutes before showtime. The seat locations are nice. Disembarkation is the final benefit. The concierges lead guests off the ship at three times, the first meeting at 7:15 am and leaving at 7:30 am. The suite guests are provided priority at each point in the disembarkation process. This is a very nice benefit. Because we have a wheelchair the concierge also made special arrangements for a “pusher” to get us into the terminal. Conclusion: The Harmony of the Seas and our suite experience on the ship’s first seven-day cruise out of Port Canaveral was all we expected it to be. The entire staff that we encountered were excellent. The venues were all in top shape, many have to be seen to be believed. We highly recommend the suite experience for at least a once in a lifetime experience. We are booked for our next Harmony experience from Port Canaveral. Read Less

My husband and I cruised on the Harmony of the Seas for our Anniversary. We were interested to cruise on a big boat without the price tag of a seven day cruise. Harmony gave two, three day cruises in early May before it started regular seven day cruises from Port Canaveral. We were excited to take advantage of the opportunity. Harmony is a very, very beautiful boat. She is new, updated, sleek and technologically advanced. The decks are so huge. I can see where it would be easy to become lost. But, after a few days, its easy to catch on. The boat is divided by colors: blue, green, yellow, and orange. But, if the halls and stairs were labeled, I missed it. We had a great cruise and would sail on Harmony again. But, cruisers must be prepared for a TON of people. There are people and lines everywhere for the first day. Then, it starts to even out. Thus, embarkation was very, very crowded. But, we made it through security and onto the boat in just about 25 minutes. We chose to park off site at the Raddison in Port Canaveral and it was efficient and easy. Food: We totally avoided the Windjammer on the first day and made a beeline to the Solarium buffet, which was delicious and had plenty of options (the Solarium didn’t open until Noon on embarkation day). The Solarium never seemed crowded and there were always plenty of shade and chairs. We also had a bite at Park Café and Sorrentos; both were very good. Park Café offered an awesome bagel bar in the mornings and it was actually really, really good. We ate one hot dog at the hot dog stand on the Boardwalk, and tried to get several more hot dogs… but the hours were squirrely and even when the hot dog stand appeared open, staff would not serve… very strange and kind of frustrating. We ate dinners in the Main Dining Room, which provided great service and great food. One night, we were out of the Main Dining Room, within about 65 minutes, which was awesome! We also requested a table for two during breakfast in the Main Dining Room. After a little humming and hawing, we were accommodated, which was really nice! I was SO disappointed the Main Dining Room was not open for lunch when we were in port at Nassau. I was really looking forward to avoiding Windjammer and having a relaxing lunch… but no luck. On the day we were in port, there were only two (free) food options available…. Windjammer and Park Café. Since we had yet to be at Windjammer, we decided to bite the bullet and try it. It was crowded, but the food was very good. They even had a ice cream bar in the back, with staff scooping different flavors. That was very unexpected and very nice! So, I should not slam the Windjammer too much. But, the best dining experience we had was at Jamie Olivers. I highly recommend up charging to Jamie’s. We went for lunch and it was the highlight of our cruise. The service from Daniel was suburb and the food was absolutely amazing! We let it slip it was our Anniversary, and they treated us so very well. Casino: We had fun playing in the casino. The craps minimum was $10 and we found low-limits for Blackjack in the cruise compass for $6. The dealers were fun and the crowd was great too. Shows: When checking in online, I noticed there were options to reserve seats for the shows. So, I was confused when there were TONS of people in long lines to get show reservations. Then, when we went to the shows, there was no one “checking” to make sure we had reservations. I inquired about this, as I was confused. If you arrive at the shows 10 minutes prior to start time, the show becomes general seating and anyone is welcome. We never had a problem getting a seat and we arrived just moments before the show started. I didn’t care for the water show, but my husband loved it. My husband walked out of Grease, and said it was boring with no sets and inconsistent dancing. But, we both agreed Columbus was THE BEST SHOW we’ve ever seen on a cruise boat. Columbus was totally entertaining, funny, and we didn’t want it to end. The Ice Show was good too. There were men dressed as women in the opening scene, which was very painful to watch (it seemed to be purposeful and part of the show). But, after that, the ice show got a lot better. Water Slides/Abyss Slide: The Ultimate Abyss is one awesome slide! You start on Deck 15, aft and slide down to the Boardwalk. The slide is not scary. It has fun lights, wind, and sounds during the slide. The best part is even before sliding… the view at the top of the slide are amazing. You are allowed to have a cell phone (they show you how to tuck it away) and you can tuck away sun glasses too. If you have bare shoulders, bring a sweater or shirt to wear, as they won’t allow uncovered shoulders. Don’t bring your coke glass, as you’ll have to leave it and then retrieve it later. This looked like a giant pain for guests. On the flip side, the water slides on Deck 15, forward were very, very disappointing. The Perfect Storm was a disaster from the beginning. The lifeguard at the bottom of the slide made us remove everything…. Jewelry, sunglasses, waterSOCKs, and even my WATERPROOF watch. This was a complete turn off, as we had to take valuables back to the room and leave flip flops and watersocks by our chairs. Then, we had to trudge through the boat, barefoot, which was gross to me. The lines were long and they are overly cautious with when guests can slide. Once on the slide, it was so slow, dark, boring, and especially slow, I was glad when it finally ended. Honestly, my hair didn’t even get wet. Did I mention how SLOW the ride was? So, this made us even more frustrated… why have us remove all our jewelry, go barefoot, with THAT SLOW of a ride?? It was a complete turn off. Save your time and go on the Ultimate Abyss or do anything that’s fun. It would have been helpful to know there are more “rules,” besides the ones posted on the signs. I hope by reading this review I’ve saved you some time. Diamond Lounge: The Diamond Lounge was wonderful with great service. The food was good and the drinks were plentiful. Since there were so many Diamonds on the cruise, they opened up a second option for lounging, which I thought was a really nice touch. Thank you! Read Less

This was our first experience on the cruise. We really enjoyed the food and the entertainment. They had a great daycare and kids areas. Even though it was raining for 3 days, with the amount of activities available on the ship we didn’t even notice the bad weather. we were extremely impressed with the service. Our waiter Zaldy was incredible - he would make figures out of napkins for our kids. That was definitely a highlight of their trip - they were looking forward dinner time every day. His assistant Giomire would tell us plenty of entertaining stories. They definitely made our stay extra special. Our cabin was without windows but it felt big enough for a comfortable stay. The facilities were really clean. What we really enjoyed was spending our evenings listening to the live music. Karaoke nights were also fun. The food overall was very good and the presentation was improved as well. Service in the dining room and our room steward service was wonderful. Every person we encountered was friendly. We were beyond pleasantly surprised. I always recommended Royal, but I stopped and also we weren't looking forward to going again. The casino was boring and wasn't really playing very well - so I quit going there. Perhaps they are using the money saved in there for food. The comedy club was disappointing. Adult is ok, but disgusting isn't necessary. It seems with such a diverse group on board a ship, the comedians could be funny without being crude. I wish they would clean this up a bit. We are heading back to the Harmony for Thanksgiving with our family - pretty sure I won't be booking the comedy club. Not much enrichment but I'm not sure what I would suggest. We were traveling with our two daughters, sons in law, and 4 grandkids ages 6 to 10. We last cruised together two years ago on the Allure and wanted another newer Oasis class ship. We had an ocean view balcony and the other two families were across the hall in boardwalk balconies. They liked the layout on the Harmony cabins much better, particularly the two separate closets and the trundle bed as opposed to bunks. Edwin our cabin steward was great, best we have had. We ate breakfast in deck three American icon restaurant. We enjoy the option of either ordering off the menu, using the buffet or both. We found the breakfast buffet far superior to our last few cruises with NCL, MSC and Princess. Quality was much better as well as selection. Service was outstanding! For lunch we did either Windjammer or when open American icon. Again Windjammer was far better for lunch and dinner than the previously mentioned lines. Had trouble initially getting grilled cheese sandwiches for the grandkids, but we spoke to manager and we were able to get the sandwiches. My time dining was at Silk. Again, Royal was superior to other lines. Service was top notch as well, especially Jansen and Marilyn. The shows were very entertaining. The fine line aqua show was amazing! I didn’t think the Allure could be topped, but it was. We went twice it was so good. The grandkids enjoyed the ice show as well. They sId they enjoyed grease too, but I thought it was too long. The swimming pools were a big hit as well as water slides and abyss. They also did zip line, rock wall, basketball, soccer, ping pong and carousel. Daughters and sons in-law had drink package and enjoyed it very much. Bar staff was super. Grandkids had soda package that comes with boardwalk balconies. They loved the all you can eat ice cream There were a few negatives along the way. The beds are hard as rocks, and all adults woke up sore on a regular basis. The comedy show was a real let down. Both comedians were below average and we are accustomed to much more talented and funny comics on all other cruises we have taken including Allure two years ago Our main gripe was the kids club. The staff in general and one person in particular were terrible. Dinner stretched out for well over an hour and kids were done eating in 15 to 20 minutes and forced to sit there. A lot of negative interactions between staff and children it was not a welcoming and friendly place. We felt so let down, we did not book our next trip onboard as we did last time. Despite all the positives, we will explore other options. Other parents were interacted with were similarly disappointed. We did our on thing at the ports of call. This was our first cruise, no idea what to expect but oh boy, we were not disappointed! We are a family of four (10 year old daughter and 13 year old son) and this was the best holiday we’ve ever had. We arrived in Fort Lauderdale the night before after the million year journey from Australia. We stayed at the Rhodeway Inn which was basic but I highly recommend. The Rhodeway offered transport right to the door of the Royal Caribbean terminal and we on the ship in less than 30 minutes. Not that we knew we were on a ship... this thing is massive!! I could honestly not cover everything it has to offer in one review but the highlights for us were: - Food. Variety, quantity, quality, just everything about it was 10/10. - Drinks. We originally didn’t purchase the package but once on board they had “buy one get 50% off the second”! This proved to be awesome value as we were easily drinking over 10 cocktails a day! The drinks were incredible and available everywhere, I especially loved the Bionic Bar! - Kids/Teen Club. We hardy saw our son. He would hang out at the teen club most the time and wouldn’t be back til 1am. He stayed out later than us!! He said it was the best time of his life and was quite upset once it was over as he had made so many friend. Our daughter was able to sign herself in and out of kids club at will but preferred being at the pools and slides. - Entertainment. There was always something going on and a surprise around every corner, from the pool games to the piano player that would pop up in the elevator! The atmosphere everywhere was so fun and the positive vibe of the ship is just incredible. I wish I could live here! Ports: Haiti - we chilled at the beach with a view of Harmony in the background. Our drinks from our drink package were included here and lunch was to die for! Jamaica - we did a trolley tour of the local area which we arranged in the port itself, $20pp and fantastic value. Souvenirs out of the port are so much cheaper. Mexico - We arranged our own excursion to Mr Sancho’s all inclusive resort. $55pp with all you can eat and drink. Can’t rate this place highly enough, definitely consider it! Side notes: Internet is super fast and reliable everywhere on the ship. Each and every staff member we encountered was perfection. Wonderland is a must do. Make show reservations early online so you don’t miss out! Grease was fantastic! Despite this being a 7 day cruise, I feel like we barely touched the surface of what this floating city has to offer and could have easily stayed twice as long. We are planning to make the long journey back in a couple of years for my husbands 40th. The kids are already on the countdown! Read Less

We chose to sail on the Harmony of the Seas because we had not been on Royal since 2011, when we sailed on the Monarch of the Seas. We were tired of going on Carnival over and over again and we needed something different. That's exactly what we got on the Harmony. This was hands down the best cruise I have ever been on. The ship was absolutely stunning. If you have not been on an Oasis class cruise ship, you should really consider making it your next cruise. The Harmony stood out in so many ways... The staff on board were amazing. Much better than what I have experienced with Carnival and Norwegian. Our room steward would clean two times a day, every single day. He also never had a problem with stopping what he was doing so he could have a conversation with you about your day ashore or about the ship. The next big thing that stood out to me was the room. The cabin on board the Harmony was noticeably bigger than on other cruise ships that I had been on. It was tastefully decorated. There was tons and tons of storage. It was perfect. We stayed in a standard balcony room (ocean facing). The food. The Harmony of the Seas had some of the best food I have ever had, period. The food was absolutely amazing. From the buffet, to the dining room, to the specialty restaurants. All of it was perfect. Regarding the specialty dining... we went to Chops and Wonderland on the ship. Wonderland was fantastic. Our server, Elton... was one of the best crew members that we had the pleasure of meeting on the ship. The food was presented in really neat ways, it was all really good. Overall a great experience. The embarkation process for the Harmony of the Seas in Port Everglades was amazing. We arrived at the cruise terminal at 11:15 and we were on the ship at 11:30... no lie it took only fifteen minutes to give our bags to the porters, check in, get our pictures taken and walk right onto the ship. The entertainment on the Harmony was really good. We only decided to see a couple of shows. But the one that really stood out to me was "The Fine Line" aqua theater show on the back of the ship. Harmony of the Seas is HUGE - and has something for everyone! We are an active family of 5 (with 3 teenagers) and all really enjoyed our cruise. We scored a 9-day itinerary instead of the usual 7 days, and loved the extra ports plus felt like we had time to relax and enjoy the ship. Embarkation - we flew into Ft. Lauderdale the night before, the airport / hotels / cruise port are very close and easy to get to. Boarding the ship was quick and easy thanks to completing info online in advance, and then picking up SeaPass cards at our staterooms after boarding. Disembarking was also smooth and easy. Ship Activities - So much to do! We enjoyed the zip line, flow rider, rock climbing wall, water slides, Abyss slide and did the Escape Room just to name a few. Fitness center is excellent. Teen Activities - they have a separate Cruise Compass with teen activities, broken down by 12-14 and 15-17 age brackets. My son especially enjoyed the sports court with teen basketball, etc and the flow rider. The kids have a nice "living room" area to hang out with ping pong, the Mini Bites restaurant, and stuff for them to do. Entertainment - We enjoyed all the shows. Grease was great, Columbus was a little wacky (had tap dancing sharks!) but fun; we loved the ice skating show and the Aqua Theater Fine Line show. All of the entertainers were extremely talented and did a great job. Reserve shows online as early as you can - the reservations fill up and some (Aqua shows) have long lines of people without reservations waiting. If the seas are rough the Aqua show will cancel and reschedule. Main Dining Room - we really enjoy the MDR, we ate there every night. It had something for all of our different tastes (including our kids), and if we didn't care for something we just got a different item instead. Waitstaff was great about making sure we enjoyed the food, and gave excellent service. Breakfast buffet in MDR was also great. Windjammer - crowded and hard to find an open table, but lots of food choices and we liked the food. It's shaped like a long narrow "U" shape, and it's really hard to find a family member if they are already sitting somewhere. VOOM internet - the ship is so big we paid the $ to get internet for all of us & texted A LOT to touch base when we wanted to find each other. Even when searching for each other in the Windjammer. Internet was very good. Watch for pre-cruise discounts on VOOM internet in Cruise Planner in advance, you can get a 4-device package (4 people can use) for a good discount. Since we had 5 of us, I booked a Deluxe Beverage with VOOM package for myself to get the 5th internet connection. Deluxe Beverage Pkg - I thought it was worthwhile for me. I got a couple hazelnut latte's each morning in Cafe Promenade, and soda in the afternoons. Every time I went to the bar I got a water bottle and stockpiled in my room fridge so I always had a cold bottle - very convenient. Afternoon frozen drinks by the pool, wine with dinner, a drink at a show or bar in the evening - it's pretty easy for them to add up. Every time I got a drink I also got a water or soda so I didn't load up on too much alcohol and I never had a problem with drinking too much but I felt like I got my money's worth. Pkg works on Labadee too. Consider what other "paid" drinks you would get (vitamin water in the spa, fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast, soda, coffee, bottled water) and add that to alcoholic drinks when deciding if it's worthwhile. Plus once or twice I got drinks I didn't like so I left them behind and got something else. Shore Excursions - We booked through Royal Caribbean for 3 of the ports. Nassau - Balmoral Island beach break - rode ferry to the island which had a really nice beach and 2 pools. It rained on us, but would have been great and relaxing if the weather had cooperated. St Thomas - fantastic! Did the Fast Cat catamaran snorkel and beach break excursion - loved it. Great crew. Clean safe friendly port area. St. Maarten - awesome! My guys did Loterie Farm Zipline Excursion - very active & included ropes course / climbing. They had a great time. My daughter & I did the horseback riding excursion at Lucky Stables, trail riding and rode horses into the ocean. It was great - horses were well cared for, our guide was great, we really enjoyed it. We walked from the cruise port to the town area with shops and restaurants along a beach. Nice and easy to get around. Still some hurricane damage. San Juan - we explored on our own; toured San Cristobal fort ($7 each) - lots to see, we really enjoyed it. Could have gone to El Morro fort with our tickets as well, but we skipped that one and did some sight seeing in Old San Juan. "Umbrella" street was neat to see. We bought some souvenirs and stopped in a cafe for a snack. Everything was easy walking distance from ship. Labadee - great beach day!! Went to Columbus Cove beach (the farthest) it had nice sand and calm water for floating around and relaxing. We took our own inflatable floaties. BBQ lunch was good. Lunch, a bar, and bathrooms were all close and nice. Loved Labadee. Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle - it was fun! There were prizes and giveaways. We had a large group. They had coffee & breakfast there - if I had realized that I would have gotten there earlier and skipped the long coffee line at Cafe Promenade. I wish there had been a little more "mingling" afterwards, but a big group had pre-planned a casino outing right after the Meet & Mingle, so most headed out. It was really nice connecting online in the Roll Call forum before the cruise; the ship is so big I wish I had run into the people we met more often but that's the downfall of a huge ship. We didn't see some of our "new friends" again for the last half of the week. I hope my review is helpful! What a great ship, this was our second time on Harmony and she continues to impress. This time around we opted for the 9 night itinerary and I don't know how we can ever go back to a 7 night cruise. One of the reasons Harmony continues to impress is the staff, the ship is great don't get me wrong but the staff from Captain Johnny, Mark the cruise director to our cabin steward and everyone else was great. We stayed in a Grand Suite which was perfect for three people, plenty of storage space and lots of room in the cabin. One of the perks of being in a suite was that we get access to Coastal Kitchen which was fantastic, Aysun the manager and the entire staff was very helpful and extremely friendly, the food was great, quite a few steps up from the dining room. We also dined at Park 150, Chop's and Jaime's which were fantastic as well, absolutely no complaints about the dining. The only entertainment we watched was the aqua-theater, comedian and the magician and all were great. We didn't attend Grease because we have seen it before and I find it to be to long of a show. The night life on the ship was okay but the nightclub almost never opened before 11pm and by the time it did open it wasn't very lively. On this 9 night itinerary we went to Nassau, St. Thomas, St Maarten, San Juan and Labadee. Nassau is nothing special, you can walk the downtown in an hour, and Atlantis is extremely overpriced, $200 to enjoy the water park is a bit steep. In St. Thomas we walked the downtown on our own which is always nice but you can see that not all of the stores have reopened after the hurricane. In St. Maarten we decided to book an excursion to Maho beach so we can watch the planes fly overhead, this is my only complaint about the entire cruise, the tour was advertised as being 4 1/2 from the time you leave the pier until they drop you back off at the ship. The entire excursion took us 6 1/2 hour leaving us no time to see anything else in St Maarten which happens to be my favorite of all the ports. The two extra hours were due to lots of traffic and our tour operator not being in any rush to get back. Maho Beach, the beach itself was overly crowded making it almost impossible to navigate around so we decided to grab a table at the restaurant to enjoy some drinks and watch the planes until we were rudely told that if we were not eating we could not sit at a table, we took a look at the menu and everything was extremely overpriced so we went to the outdoor bar instead, again at the bar everything was overpriced 2 mojitos and a pina colada was $30.00 and it didn't contain much alcohol, the entire experience felt like I was in a tourist trap. In San Juan we booked a city tour with a stop at the mall, the city tour was great, we learned a lot about Puerto Rico's vast history the stop at the mall was nothing special but I definitely recommend a city tour. We also walked around Old San Juan which is beautiful. In Labadee we kept it simple and spent the day at the beach, Barefoot Beach which is only for suite guest was beautiful, not crowded with plenty of chairs, access to the beach, its own bar, buffet and restrooms so we had no need to leave. The ship overall was great, we had no complaints about the ship, the service and the crew. One thing that continues to bother me though is the drink package policies enacted by RCCL. For those that don't know, if you plan on purchasing a drink package everyone in your cabin must purchase one as well, whether it be an alcohol package or soda package. I know the cruise line is trying to prevent people from abusing the package but when you book a suite you have access to The Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen were drinks are already provided so it seems a bit redundant to make everyone purchase the package if you're in a suite. This ship was great, since we are now doing the suite life, the suite lounge and staff were great, from the time we got on till we got off. I would recommend this cruise to anyone. We had the dining plan so only ate once in the main dinning room. The food was great at every venue. Found our new favorite restaurant was Wonderfand. The food was both fun and amazing. The wemsical and happy attitude of the staff was great. Even though we had a group of 5 thus having a odd number of people at the tabl. Food at the coastal kitchen was both well presented and tasted outstanding. Told the family that they had to try something different that they had not eaten before with every meal. While at Labadee we had a Cabana on barefoot beach, this was. One of the best days on the trip. Best no paperwork when disembarking. With luggage valet we were off the sip in less than 5 minutes.
