I am an experienced cruiser. Now I finally decided to try the iconic QM2. I admit I had quite high expectations, unfortunately not all of them were met. PROS The embarkation process in Hamburg was very quick. There were no queues at all, it took us maybe 15 minutes to get on board. The dining experience on board was excellent. The service in the Princess Grill restaurant was very ...

We were on the post-remastering cruise for the QM2, boarding in Hamburg immediately after the dry dock. We love the QM2 and love the experience of transatlantic crossings. This was our 20th cruise and our 6th time on Cunard. Re-Mastered Ocean Liner: The re-mastering was largely a success. The cabins have a more modern and subdued color scheme. New carpets throughout the ship, most with ...

Always wanted to try Cunard and expectations were set high, so we booked a mini-cruise Kiel to Southampton in an ocean view room. The good.... Stateroom was nice size, good decor and well serviced. 1/2 bottle of fizz on departure was a nice touch. Quality Penhaligon's cosmetics were also lovely. Plenty of storage for a longer cruise. The passenger areas in general were very tasteful and ...

We were a little disappointed in the food in the Britannia dining room. Presentation of the food was good each night, however the taste and quality was very inconsistent. We had much better consistency on a NCL & Holland America cruise. Set menus and the servers rush you to order and pushed you out for the next sitting. We had fabulous table mates and did not enjoy being rushed and pushed out the ...

We sailed on the QM2 in July of 2010 when we sailed from Brooklyn to Southampton. The second trip was on June 1, 2011 from Hamburg to Brooklyn. The ship came highly recommended by my cruise partner who had been on the QM previously. His thinking was that crossing the Atlantic on a ship was much preferable to sitting in a coach seat on an transatlantic flight. That part was correct. In ...

Queen Mary II Not For Independent Travelers

My partner and I just returned from a May 2011 transatlantic crossing on the QM II from Hamburg to New York with a stop at Southampton. This was our second crossing on the QM II, and overall, we were disappointed. Here are some things we learned.A huge number of (mostly German) people take the two-night trip from Hamburg to Southampton (1800 on our trip). This transformed the QM II into a mostly ...
