Had done Viking River Cruise in past and service and venue was excellent so decided to do a Viking Ocean Cruise. Embarkation to Disembarkation went smoothly and same quality as the river cruise with Viking. They set up pre-extension and post-extension and was excellent with excellent service, accommodations were very good. The pre-extension guide was superb. During the cruise itself, food was excellent, staff listened to concerns and addressed. Shore excursions and weather were excellent. Liked the included shore excursions as well as option to choose another excursion for additional fee if desired. Liked the educational information and UNESCO sites provided by Viking. It was nice to have wine/beer/ sodas included for lunch and dinner so no need to purchase a drink package. If desired additional beverages outside of mealtimes the prices were reasonable to purchase. The cleanliness of the ship and the service was good. The Spa area was a nice feature which was an included amenity unless you desired to purchase facials or massages. Fitness area was very nice. Our cabin was well appointed and looked new. Enjoyed the outside balcony area. The bathroom was perfect even though smaller than the bathroom on the river cruise. No children for the cruise and preferred this and was another reason chose Viking. Loved the sites and would use Viking again and recommend Viking to other travelers. The high quality of Viking is showed through on their ocean cruise as well. Read Less

This was my first time ever going on a cruise and let me tell you..... my breath was taken away!!! Everything, and when I say everything, I really mean EVERYTHING was amazing!!!! The staff were extremely nice and helpful, all the food/dining area was great, the shows were out of this world, and I just had the most amazing time. There was always something to do on the cruise as well. My friends and I, not once were bored at the cruise ship. We had a great time going to the salsa classes, partner shows, 5’clock somewhere bar was the enjoyable karaoke nights, or just chill and enjoy the view by the pool deck. Oh and let me mention, the music was always on point, from playing known classical, to some reggae to dance to. I literally had the time of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever go on a different cruise, Norwegian is the one to pick. Trust me on it!!!!! Read Less

We sailed on the Norwegian Jade in October 2019. We traveled as a group with a local travel agent. This was a dream cruise with a fantastic itinerary. This was our first cruise and it far exceeded our expectations. The ship itself was not too big and fairly easy to get around. The food was great, the staff were excellent and the ship was very clean. The ports of call were amazing! Our travel agent organized our excursions and they were great. Be prepared for a lot of walking. I would recommend this cruise in a heartbeat. The embarkation was a breeze no line ups and getting off the ship at each port was very easy. The final disembarkation was a little long but it was to be expected as we all took our time getting off because we didn't want our vacation to end. This was our first cruise but based on our experience with will not be our last. Read Less

This was part of a package from a travel agent. No information when we arrived for the first days activities. When we visited the dining rooms or buffet no crew member there to ask people to wash there hands or use the hand cleanser. So 50% of guests did not use the facilities, within days lots of people down with colds & flu. My wife got ill and that ended with a $503 bill to see the doctor. The ship was new but there were areas were stains on the furniture already. Our cabin was a good size and comfortable. The dining was O K they keep pushing for you to visit the speciality restaurant's. That's at a cost of about $30 p p. which is outrageous when you have paid a good price to get on the ship. The ships staff are good we did have a good waiter & cabin steward. The entertainment was very disappointing no big shows or enrichment activities. They are cutting back on all activities like welcome cocktail parties. I never saw the Captain on this 10 cruise. Read Less

Booked with a Group. Ship overall is average. Guest Service at Registration desk is poor, seemed bothered with any questions. Bar, Restraurant, and Fitness personal very good. Food is average. Stops at ports were changed frequently which caused some adjustments to booked tours. Learned to check also on how many ships will be in port at one time as many of the stops were extremely overcrowed. Many of the ship personal had little knowlege of aspects or ammenities of the ship if it was not their department. Internet access is poor and non-existant. Don't even bother paying extra for it. Over $200 charged and little or no connection and down completely most of the time. Ship personal were not caring about the wi-fi. This was very difficult do to communication obligations we had. It is very unfortunate about the cruise experience considering the beautiful ports of call. Will most likely not be back to Norwegian. Read Less

I loved everything about the cruise and the ship. The food, accommodations were great. State rooms were a little small but we had a balcony. My disappointed with the cruise line, was there was no Greek food. I feel since it was a cruise thru Greece, they should have had a least one night with Greek food and deserts. I enjoyed myself and liked everything about the cruise. The service was great, the stewards, waiters and waitress, the bartenders . Was surprised that there were no more stores. Liked the sales for the bags and chains. I No enough chairs or lounges at the pool. People left towels and didn't sit there all day. Feel they shoukld take the towels away after 2 hours of a no show, COULD NEVER SIT AT THE POOL. That upset me. But all in all I loved Norwegian Cruise line and will definethly go with them again. Overall the reason my family chose this ship was because of the itinerary on overnight stays and long stays in port on each island. You did not feel rushed on the islands like sometimes you might on a Caribbean cruise. I believe a cruise is the best way to visit multiple islands in Greece in a short amount of time, but I would not suggest this cruise to anyone. Even though it has a great itinerary, the ship is lacking many things to make your trip better while on board. Pros -Itinerary is great and spent 2 nights in Santorini. -Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. -Excursions we took were really good and the tour guides did an excellent job on getting you to experience the Greek Culture. -Food on islands is amazing. Not on cruise ship. -Spa is great. My wife loved her facial and massage. Cons - The ship is an early morning ship and you will not be able to sleep in. Keep your do not disturb on the door, or you will have the cleaning crew come in your room immediately when you dock at port. A lot of times the cleaning crew does not even knock on the door at all, they just come right in. -The cleaning crew was vacuuming outside our rooms at 1AM and you can hear everything that goes on in the hallway inside your room due to it being a cruise ship. This woke my family up multiple days throughout the cruise. -The cleaning crew is always cleaning which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we felt like they were always hanging outside our room because the cart stayed against the wall majority of the cruise and every-time we left the room they were right outside your door. -The food on the ship is very bland. For buffet people you might would like it but after the second day my family said they were done with the ship food and ate on the islands the rest of the trip. After all you are in Greece. But for the price of the cruise the food should be much better, the chicken felt like you could chip a tooth while eating. The food is also cold for the majority of the part. The excursions that are offered are very good and if you chose any of them you would be happy. But the cruise does not provide a lot of variety of excursions as compared to Carribean cruises that i have been on. -On the last day, the cruise makes you leave your cabin at 8AM going into dock. Its currently 10AM and we are still not allowed to leave the ship. There aren't enough seats for everyone and you cannot stay in the hallways or on the floor. They will ask you to get up. This has never happened to me on a cruise before. If you take this cruise don't plan on doing anything other than walking around in athens due to this. After 8AM you aren't allowed back in your cabins and have to sit your checked luggage in the hallway before midnight the night before. -The omlet station for breakfast has only 2 machines and for 1,000 people that is not enough. There should be multiple stations set throughout the ship to avoid long lines. -The waiters are friendly but it takes European time to get to you. They are not assigned a certain section of tables and just walk around the cruise ship so the person you had for your first drink may be different for second since your first person may be on the otherside of the ship. -The Free drinks are very watered down and a hit or miss, most of the times a miss and some of them didn't even have alcohol sometimes . Some of the paid drinks I got were good, but were still watered down. -The fitness center is small with way to much equipment in there for you to really anything in a comfortable position. -Ship does not handle weather very well and is very rocky compared to others i have been on Read Less

The food quality and selection is not what I have been used to on Princess cruise. Was served French fries with a filet mignon. Being on a Mediterranean cruise would have expected a better selection of seafood and fish. King prawns were the size of baby shrimps. Although the MichelAngelo waiting staff was really courteous and helpful. Pedro the head waiter was good to find us nice and enjoyable people to sit with. Front desk service is useless they give you the run around! We were booked on a shore excursion on our day of disembarking but the bus couldn’t carry luggage. It would have been great to visit Mykonos but the rough sea prevent it us to port.... the captain decided for the safety of the passenger to continue our route. I’m glad that he made that call for our safety. Princess didn’t live up to their slogan.... Come Back New! I found that Princess cruise line has been going down in quality over the last 5 years. It not what it used to be. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the great itinerary and I would highly recommend most of these ports to anybody. Second time cruising but the first was only a 3 day cruise and that was long ago. GOOD: 1. We loved most of these ports as they offered a little bit something different in each one, they all had incredible beauty and history. 2. We had an ocean view cabin which was a decent size, very comfortable bed, excellent service in the twice daily room cleaning. Much better than I thought a cruise cabin would be. 3. We really loved the starting port of Barcelona and would highly recommend that people get there a few days prior to the cruise to fully enjoy this lovely city. I wish we had a few more days here. 4. Most of our excursions were very good. We booked a couple with Norwegian and a couple with Costco. We booked: Florence & Wine tasting at a castle, Historic Kotor & Budva, Game Of Thrones Tour in Dubrovnik, Oia wine tasting tour in Santorini port. The Oia tour was OK but really loved the other 3 tours. 5. Embarking and disembarking went fairly smooth at the start and finish. NOT SO GOOD: 1. There seemed to some issues with the Tendering type of ports. Not sure if this a problem with all cruises or just this particular cruise. It seemed to take a long time to get off and back in some of the ports. 2. The food and service seemed to be hit or miss on the Pearl. The people we were with were experienced in cruising and thought the dinner offerings were not as good as other cruises they had been on. 3. The entertainment was a bit hit or miss as well. We enjoyed most of the acts. 4. As a few people have mentioned, the pool seems to run like some Mexican resorts in that some people come very early and place items on chairs and then leave for several hours. Mostly stayed away from the pools due to empty seats being used this way. RESULT: We loved the itinerary and picked this cruise mainly for that reason so I enjoyed this cruise but am not sure that I would pick NCL again or even opt for cruising again. Read Less

Have traveled with Viking on a River Cruise in 2015. Best ever- and this Ocean Cruise was fantastic as well. We extended our trip by two days before embarking and two days after the cruise ended. Everything went smoothly. Having the Viking personnel arrange our air flights, connections, and stays before and after the cruise made the experience all the better. The crew, stateroom, food and entertainment were all excellent. All of the excursions were well planned and enriching. We had the best possible tour guides and the process and organization of the excursions was terrific. The food at each of the restaurants was excellent and the staff made us feel welcomed no matter where we went to eat. The cabin staff were friendly and made our stay almost like being at home. We have nothing but the best reviews of our trip and would gladly travel with Viking again soon. Thank you Read Less

We chose this cruise as it was our first and the destinations were places we wanted to visit. We missed embarkation photos etc. as the bus was late. The ship was very nice but a little tired. Getting around was extremely confusing and we found our way round with more help from other passengers than the staff. There could have been clearer sign posting. The dining rooms were excellent, the waiting staff were very efficient and friendly (Joseph and Manesh). The buffet food wasn’t particularly great. The breakfasts were nice but the main meals we attended were a little disappointing. We thought the entertainment would be better but it was focused on Strictly Come Dancing which we weren’t that in to. The daytime entertainment consisted mainly of dance classes and yoga etc. It would have been nice to have movies indoors or more actual entertainment and shows. We can’t fault the service. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had particularly good service from our cabin steward (Manoj) and the photographic team. The shore excursions involved more walking than we expected and we were disappointed with them. We would definitely go on another P&O cruise as overall we had a great time. Read Less

Choose the Star Pride predominately for the race and then the wonderful different ports of call. Food was some of the best cruise food ever and the staff were wonderful. The rooms are a good size, but don't bother with the balcony upgrade. The size of the ship makes it easy to get around without needing a map. If you get the opportunity check out the bridge when it is open as the crew is very informative about the ship and navigation. All the staff are very friendly and a joy to be around. The dinner selections are excellent and it feels like you are dining in a five star restaurant. Before buying the drink package take into consideration your on board credit as well as how much you plan on drinking, we skipped the package and didn't come close to using our credit. Same for the wi-fi package it was easy to find free hot spots at each port of call to catch-up and send photos. Read Less

Our 2019 Cruise, this will be our fifth cruise in our wish list of trying all the cruise lines with various star rating. Holland America Koningsdam was next on our list and our longest, 23 nights around the Mediterranean. Pure bliss. Best value....two cruised joined together for just a little more. Many Pros about this stunning ship, but also a few extremely annoying unnecessary Cons. Pros: This ship is immaculate, spotless and well maintained, even though it is only three years old, it still looks new and they never stop cleaning. HAL’s still is classical cruising, so If you prefer a party or ship for children, this is not for you. Very relaxing. The ship’s captain, Werner Timmers has a great sense of humour, especially during his addresses during the day. The onboarding was fast, efficient and we even were allowed to board early and access our rooms, a first for us. The suites were spotless, excellent showers and shampoo, conditioner and body wash which were mounted on the shower wall, saving the waste of plastics bottles. Our balcony was huge and we just had a basic veranda suite. Bedding was also comfy with a large TV just in front of the bed on the wall, showing all the latest movies, for free! This was great when you just wanted to relax in bed at night. The “fill your laundry bag” for $30 US was brilliant for cleaned and pressed laundry. Another first for us, was the ability to chat with other cruisers via their cruise app. Brilliant, we were a group of eight and this made life so much easier. Pool area is bright and colourful, but on sea days, staff must be more vigilant and remove towels placed on beds and lounges for hours, while passengers were off somewhere else. The movies at night on the big screen near the pool were lovely along with the movie’s snacks The excursions were fairly priced and well organised and their daily talks with Andrea, one of their EXC were informative and more importantly, gave you many options to visit the ports on your own and how do via local transport, which was greatly appreciated, a true passionate travel gesture to the passengers. The food was EXCELLENT and even though my husband wasn’t keen on the buffets, as there were many queues in the morning and not self-serve, especially on sea days, it kept the messy fingers of passengers out of the food keeping the health standards up. But they should increase their staff as the waiting time seemed long at times and some of the staff don’t seem to be in any rush. ******The CONS: the first main con for us was the relentless smoking odour outside our stateroom, it welcomed us and those in our group staterooms each and every morning, noon and night. Sometimes so bad, you had to cover your nose. We became passage envy at other corridors that smelt nice. I complained on average, twice a day, met with the management, but nothing could be done. WE later found out, that there was a staff smoking room at the end of our corridor behind a staff door. When staff used the door (which they were not supposed to) the smell followed them. Either stop smoking there, or put in extractor fans, it did ruin our experience and was such a shame. The casino also allows smoking, which is ridiculous, as it is a contained area, we love the casino, but could only last 10mins, they do have non-smoking nights, but people still smoke, unless you report them. To avoid this smell, don’t enter the casino and avoid staying on level 4, bow. The second main con, is the constant over charging for drinks on your account. There were eight of us, all with different packages, four with only soft drink package as we don’t drink. At dinner, you would order all your drinks, all cards would be picked up and it was luck of the draw who got charged what. The quench packages ended up having wine or beer charges on their account as no care was given on who had what card. This happened daily. As soon as you checked your account on your app straight away to check, if you were over-charged, you would then show the waiter what had happened and they would ask you to see guest services, another battle at reception!! As they cannot reverse it. Reception would reply “but your card was swiped for that drink””, then the whole story has to be explained, right drink, wrong person, wrong card. This really needs to be addressed by the beverage team. Guest services were also unsure what drinks were included in each package, I had to actually correct then. We had over 18 charges that has to reversed on average. Staff just seemed not to really care sometimes and some not as friendly as other cruise lines. The ones that were, were exceptional, best at sea, especially the barista on level 12, Paula, best at sea. Dinner in the dining room was great, but disappointed that we could never get a window table, unless we booked dinner at 5.30pm which was too early or the same waiters. Tables were cramped in and it seemed there were a lot of new staff, as it was crazy on most nights. The shows were ok, but repetitive and no real wow factor. We were looking forward to the much hyped 360 surround screens showing of blue planet 2, but only three screens were on. Which was a shame. Shopping was not really that exciting, which is good, as we spent less! In all, a great relaxing cruise, we would go again, but re-think the drinks package and avoid level 4, or anywhere near smoking. Read Less

This was our 8 cruise and the second with Msc. We choose this cruise because of the itinerary. We are a couple in our late fifties. Embarking in Venice took several houres and here they can do a better job. Stateroom. We had a suite om deck 10 and it was very nice with a good bed, lots of space, å nice bathroom and a good balcony. Everything was kept nice and clean by our cleaner. Food. We had breakfest at the buffet, lunsj mostly in the buffet and one day in the restaurant and dinner every night at the restaurant at deck 6. All the food we had was wonderful and the service by the waiters was excellent. Drinking package. We had the non alkoholic package with water, coffedrinks, soda, none alkoholic softdrinks etc. and they were all very enjoyable. Smoking. We dont smoke. There are no smoking at the balcony any more . Only place inside were people could smoke was in one bar. We were not there and had no problem with smoking people. I never smelled any sigarette smoke at all. Entertainment. This entertainment ensemble is one of the best I have seen. They have wonderful singers and dancers. We saw every show. They were brilliant. Every day we were out on a organized tour and they were all good. We did Sibenik and Trogir in Croatia, Kotor and Perast in Montenegro, Ljublijana in Slovenia and San Marino in Ravenna. Every tour well organized. There were a lot of different activities day and evening on the boat to choose from . As we were out most of the day the evenings went to dinner, show and dancing. Would I cruise on this ship again. Yes with no doubt. Thank you for a wonderful week MSC Lirica. Read Less

I just took the 10 Days Regal Princess out of New York last November and had the best food service and selection so I gather a group of friends to do the 10 Days Euro Explorer cruise and what a disappointment! Everyday the breakfast buffet is exactly the same! Where is the smoke salmon? If is behind the station and you have to ask for it! Water down coffee and hard as a rock toast! Lunch buffet is no better unless you go down to the dinning room and catch hell from their waiter staff and yells at you when you do not sit at the right table. No flexibility when you want to eat before 8pm or else buffet is your option! The ship was supposed to be recently refurbished but the cabin still looked aged and only new TV and bed. But I must say the bed is really good and comfortable to sleep on! TV has very good movie selection but you can not check the ship's day program and only via your cellphone or mobile device... why not? Who is their IT Program Director that can't even come up with this basic function? The TV is HD but the in-house program that talked about the shore information recorded from the live sessions are not so you will see all the fizzy video the you can't even read the wording they are showing on shore info. Firstly this was our first cruise so we have nothing to completely judge against, however the things I will talk about was our experience. On arrival onto the ship we we’re badgered by staff wanting us to sign up to a drinks package which we had already sorted pre arrival. This also didn’t stop for a couple of days. ( by all means assist customers but make staff be seen but have customers approach staff ) We also were constantly bugged by the staff photographers constantly asking if we wanted our picture taken and even after a polite no they then pleaded ‘it will only take a few minutes ‘ whilst following us. My polite no’s were beginning to wear very thin towards the end. To add insult to injury the one time we gave in, we were then automatically charged £34.99 to our card before even seeing them. From the reception they told me it was down to me to say I didn’t want them to have the charge removed. So I was glad to keep an eye on my account on my tv in my cabin. Otherwise it would have been a shock on leaving. ( may be better for customers to say yes before charging). Each place we docked at we were badgered if we wanted taxi or sight seeing bus. All were stupid prices and you can do so much better sourcing your own public transport at great prices.... it got tiresome as they wouldn’t take no as an answer. I feel msc security/ dock security should monitor this and actively reduce this annoyance. Now the ship is an absolute beautiful design. Really took our breath away. The mid ship sky screen shows and displays were very good. The shows onboard were very very good and thoughly entertaining. And at 30 mins I feel it was too short but understand with time restrictions for the program it has to be that way. I had no issues with my premium drinks package and recommend this is purchased. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant and had no bad experiences in the dining room with food or waiting staff. The cabin ( we had a balcony) was a nice size and I would say it was a slightly smaller than the average Travelodge room but pretty much the same layout. Tv channels were slightly limited ( but who comes on holiday to watch tv ). The safe is quite tiny and we couldn’t put our iPads in it. But it was simple to use. The Bed was very comfortable with two pillows. Balcony size ok. Mini bar idea not so good. .... it is not covered on the drinks package. I think to enjoy the balcony it would be good to use from mini bar to save having to go to the bar for purchasing drinks to carry back. Most drinks in there can be from the bar anyway. ( just saves borrowing and restocking ourselves the next day early). The spa is amazing and well worth the visit. Spent most days in there for a couple of hours recovering from our days walking. However on the sea day it got very busy. Maybe it would be good if msc only allowed the package deal only people to access on sea days and offer no day pass. ( could earn more money for them and balance the numbers out for spa visitors). With the numerous relaxation areas jacuzzis and steam/ sauna rooms and ice room. Not forgetting the emotional showers there are plenty of places to relax and rest. Never gambled before and the casino was an awesome experience. Staff very friendly and when it was quiet we asked how to use tables and all was explained very well. There are serious gamblers there, and people like us who had fun with between 10-30 Euros per visit. We actually visited most nights and actually walked away with more Euro’s than we started with. The water slides were fun to use, and the pools were relaxing. And the external hot tubs on the deck were very nice also. Anyone in two minds about first time cruising, I think the ship will give you the experience that will help decide if it’s for you. And as for us......... we will stick with msc and look out for more locations this ship will visit and try out the other ships in the fleet. We have been converted to a life of cruising for sure. Went to see the Northern Lights and experience Norway where we had never visited. Due to weather we never saw the Northern Lights...The Norway Coast was spectacular and worth the experience. If I had to do the cruise over again I would like to go during the spring or summer - Norway is beautiful but hard to appreciate when it is cold and icy during the winter. That said, it was interesting during the winter and something we will never forget. The Viking Sky was a lovely ship and the attendants were great. We have no complaints with the service provided during the cruise and our room was excellent in design and the attendants were friendly and took care of our needs beyond expectations. Some of the onboard entertainment was excellent...some interesting...some a bit lacking. Some is designed for the academic which was a bit beyond our interest. Overall the only change we would consider is the time frame - winter in the far north was worthy of the experience but during a warmer time of year may have provided better shore experiences. I was really disappointed with MSC system. Most of the crew were rude, rude and rude in all area of the ship. Please pay attention to your bill. Almost everyday I need to go down the reception to clarify the charges. Even though I purchased the package for food and drink. They have too many package until the crew and myself also confuse what is what. Let take an example like I bought the premium package for my drinks. So it emphasized that any glass drink that is under euro 10 is under the package. But I was told that I need to pay for the drinks like sake and plum wine which was under Euro 10. Then when I go challenge with the crew they answered me " this is an Italian cruise and you are drinking japanese sake so you need to pay" so meaning all the whisky and beer from scotland and US I need to pay????? Becareful with the photo you purchase too. Please ask for a better package and do check whether they double charge or not. Most of the crew are really rude especially in the Buffet dining area. If you manage to have someone take good care of you then please do appreciate this person. I was ask this question when I try to order some drinks from the waiter " Why didn't you order just now". I also have argument with the waiter and the supervisor on the fresh orange juice which fall on less then euro 10 category. I could go on and on. Their are just tons of problem with their system. Even to the cleanliness of the cabin. Don't bother with Balcony. They don't clean your Balcony. Their shows is boring. So no point go paying for show at Curosell. Read Less

So a group of 7 girls decided to go on a cruise for one of our friends 40th birthday, only 2/7 people has done a cruise before so it’s an amazing idea on something different to do. We boarded at Barcelona, everything went very smooth, the check in staff were helpful and informative, so sat at the bar waiting to be called. After looking at the info the check in desks give we head into our room, collect the cards and walk out. We then go to reception get a drink, go for an explore, then head to the top deck. That’s when it goes slightly downhill, no one knows what to do next, we didn’t know about the entertainment information or the timetable as we were so excited to go exploring we seemed to miss the little pigeonhole right next to the door, I finally understood on the last night. Not Costas fault but it’s not explained very well once onboard the ship. Also being a group on girls on a birthday weekend I think there was a few more drinks flowing than normal. At 6.30 there was a safety demonstration which lasted about 20 odd minutes, then off to dinner for 9.15pm, that was a definite eye opener so very busy, the waiter we had wasn’t at all friendly (although we later found out they can work up to 8 months and that’s without a day off), even I don’t think I could plaster a smile on my face everyday. While dining in the main buffet Michael Jackson started blaring on the loud speaker, then up out of no where all the waiters start jumping about dancing. That was amazing as it comes out of nowhere!! Food was good, although the menu can get confusing as the waiter never did explain that you can order anything and everything if you choose. We all dance the night away and that was a great first night. Next morning with a slight hangovers and an early morning wake up call as someone managed to get locked out of their room and went off with another friend in another cabin, we all shower and up we get for a buffet breakfast. I can see from the choice of breakfast that they do try to cater for different nationalities but the breakfast isn’t great to be honest. I try some pancakes and bacon and that’s it. The coffee also isn’t great as unlike the bars where they have a machine and a milk frother they don’t have in the buffet, so water or orange juice is the way forward, also they don’t have a toaster, and the bread is rock solid. You could kill a bird with it. Off we go to marseille, hmmm next time I won’t bother as there’s not overly a lot to do there, walked around, saw some buildings, forced an alcoholic drink down our neck and back on the boat. lunch at the buffer, again it wasn’t too great, rock hard bread again, some warm focaccia, pasta, and a big lump of beef with potatoes, not great if you’re a vegetarian (I’m not, but 2 of our friends are). Go to dinner at 9.15pm, this time the waiters dance to some latin songs, ver well done again. Then another repeat of the night before, more drinks and dance the night away). The 3rd morning head off to the buffet again, this time no pacncakes, I don’t eat eggs so not a lot to choose from, I grabbed 2 pieces of French bread with cinnamon and some pineapple, that will do. We get off at Savona, 1 MASSIVE tip, other than supermarkets everything else shuts at 1.30 and opens back up at 4.30, unfortunately we have to be back on the ship by 4.30 so we spent an hour walking in a group of 7, with different people trying to find a restaurant just so we can get a pizza, it didn’t go down too well but got there in the end. Back on the ship, more drinks, a lot more passengers so the bar on deck 9 was a complete nightmare, then off we go again. Down to shower, off to the 9.15pm dinner, waited until 10pm to ask the waiter what time will the dancing be on tonight, he tells us there won’t be any, shame, so we all thanked him, 3 went off to bed, 4 of us decided to pop off to the casino. Within half hour our 50€ was spent and off to the bar we go. A few more drinks down our necks an the conversation turned to the bar staff. When we took 5 minutes out of our busy lives to see the amount they work, the stuff they have to put up with, and the hours they work on a daily basis, I’m so grateful for my life. The amount of time they’re away from home, they don’t see their families for months and months at a time. While we go on holiday they’re there at our beck and call when we want a drink or service. So thank you Henry and Danny for that night. So last morning just before we go to Barcelona, we set our alarms to make the restaurant breakfast. I do wish I’d gone there before but to be there by 9 is a bit of a deal breaker, unfortunately again we had a not so friendly waiter and had to be called about 3 times before he would come over to serve, at least it was nice. Back to the room to get our stuff as we had to be out by 10. We decided to go back to deck 9, as we started off from there a few more Prosecco to finish up the holiday, and off we go to the shops, pay our bill at the desk and get ready to leave. As they bleep mine and my roommates cats and unfamiliar buzz goes off, we’re not allowed to leave but everyone else disembarked, so back off to the desk to sort the cards out. Cards done and out we go. The 2 of us are last to pick up our luggage go through everything and my friend realizes she’s had some money stolen from her case. Do not leave any money in your case. There’s signs around saying the same so I don’t know what was going through her mind at that time when she left the case outside the door the night before. You HAVE to leave your cases outside of the room the night before for them to collect it. They advise to leave the cases the night before by 12 midnight and no later than 1am, but I witnessed them not coming until 3.30 am. Do not leave anything valuable at all. There’s always people workers and non workers wandering the hallways so could have been anyone. I also had stuff taken but luckily not money. Anyway other than the little hiccup at the end it all went well. I also missed the last day lunch as I was too busy booking my next cruise onboard. This time as a family, so hopefully the next one will be a little less partying and a little less hangovers. On the last note, be aware that if you suffer from rocking on land, It’s been 48 hours and I still don’t feel great and I’m still rocking and swaying. Maybe I was a little hasty in booking the next one but I’m sure I’ll be over it then. Read Less

Overall we had a great experience aboard the star. The embarkation & disembarkation was excellent. The rooms were better than I thought they would be we had a stateroom with balcony. The service from the staff especially your stateroom staff was excellent. Food was excellent in all restaurant the only complaint was sometimes the service was slow. Tender process was very organised and smooth. We travelled with a group of friends and already we are planning our next cruise. We enjoyed visiting all ports Kotor,Corfu,Mykonos,Santorini and Dubrovnik. The ship excursion to Dubrovnik 'Game of Thrones' was really good and lovely way to see the city but wish we had more time to explore. We hired our own boat in Corfu and was a lovely way to see the island. Dress code is very relaxed, Cagneys restuarant was the best and the steak was very good. We would book again with Norwegian the overall experience was excellent and value for money . Read Less

Great way to see Italy, Greece and Croatia. We had a great time on the Ship and the Ports. Was disappointed in the Cruise Director and his Crew and how they were so disorganized. You barely saw them and didn't seem real helpful when you did. The procedure to get Tender Tickets and getting on and off the ship during tender procedures could have been a real safety issue. People got in line at 0600 am to get tender tickets so they could be first in line and there was no cueing of lines. As people trickled in they got in front of people that had already been there for hours. I was surprised there was no riots, not a single crew member in there to organize until 0830 then everyone rushed up in mobs. Same thing with the tendering. They had 1 person on the 7th floor trying to prevent mobs of people trampling on each other and instead of calling 1 group at a time, the crew 4 decks below were calling 3 groups at a time not realizing the chaos of people 4 decks up. I'm really surprised that people have not gotten hurt or fell down the stairs. The White Out party should have been called Latin night, 5 to 6 songs in Spanish compared to 1 in English. Latin night was the following night. Seems there were a lot of crew that were not familiar with the ship. I was guessing maybe from the JOY. A lot of them had a language barrier and a lot of misinformation what actually was going on the ship. I am a platinum now and usually enjoy the service on NCL, but this particular cruise seemed everyone was lost. I think a lot of the regular crew were on their leaves and they threw a lot of the crew not familiar with the ship on board. We had an awesome Pool Waiter named Joe took great care of us and new all of our names the 1st day. Great Service in Cagneys and Le Bistro as always and the food was great. Loved the ports, just need to get the tender situation under control, which was really my only big complaint. Read Less

We went with a wine group which selected the Silver Muse as its ship for the cruise. It is a new ship, having launched in 2017. Overall, the ship is very nice. It is a smaller ship about 600 passengers. Much has been made of the 8 restaurants on board. What we found out is that if you want to go to a restaurant that requires reservations (Atlantide and Indochine are the only "walk in" restaurants on board), make your reservations as soon as you book your cruise. We were able to get only 2 reservations; the others were already booked solid. Fortunately, the wine group had reservations in most restaurants. Therefore, we ate in all restaurants but Kaiseki. That having been said, our favorite restaurant was Atlantide, followed closedly by Hot Rocks, also known as The Grill. Atlantide had great Chilean sea bass and a nice atmosphere. At Hot Rocks/The Grill, they heat stones to 450 degrees F for 20 hours. You select what meat or seafood you want to cook. Then they put the hot stone slabs in front of you, and you cook your own food. Frankly, the filets we cooked there were the best beef we had on the cruise. Despite the claimed excellence of La Dame, we were less than impressed. The steaks were overcooked. Silver Note was enjoyable, especially with the pianist and the singer, but the menu is limited. LaTerraza had mediocre food and spotty service at night. La Terraza is the buffet at breakfast and lunch. Sometimes we were invisible at a breakfast table and practically had to tackle someone to order coffee, tea or an omelette. Being on Deck 8 was good because of Cafe d'Arts, aka the coffee bar. We could walk down the hall and get coffee, tea, cappuccino, etc as well as snacks beginning early in the morning; the only thing is that it doesn't stay open late. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We enjoyed the bartenders on Deck 10, the pool deck. Some of the servers were lackadaisacal in waiting on people at tables along the sides. One outstanding exception was Egbert (yes, that is his name). He went out of his way when we got back late from a shore excursion. He went up to Spaccanapoli to order and to get our pizza, as well as to serve us drinks. He was the only waiter we encountered who deserved a tip. We didn't check out the entertainment that much. The night we did go was all right, but nothing outstanding. Our butler Kiran was outstanding. Our room steward was good but virtually invisible. Room service was good. If you can't get into a restaurant, order room service. Overall, the staff was friendly and cheerful. There were various activities onboard. Since we had no sea days, however, we did not participate much except for trivia, which was fun. The shore excursions were good. We took the ships excursions in Rominj,Corfu, Santorini, Nafplion and Rhodes. We had a private excursion in Dubrovnik. The history and architecture were outstanding, and some had amazing views. Be prepared to walk a lot. Many people enjoyed the excursion to Corinth, although we did not personally go. If you plan to go to popular tourist spots such as Dubrovnik and the Greek isles, do not go during July and August if you can possibly avoid it. Not only is it hot, there are seemingly a million people in those places. Even going in October was crowded when 4,000 "of our closest friends" got off a monster Holland America for tours. On Santorini if you plan on taking the tram down, wait until the hordes from Holland America or some other behemoth ship leave before standing in line to go down. We were in line for over an hour because of people from the Holland America ship. Of course, you can also walk down 500+ steps to the shore, but you have to avoid donkeys and their droppings. Or you can ride a donkey down, although some said that it was more difficult going down than going up. We enjoyed some of the tropical drinks from the bar on the pool deck. Unfortunately, none of the bartenders were proficient in making drinks such as a martini or a vodka gimlet, which was surprising considering the luxury line offering. The outside decks on the aft of the ship were nice. The chairs outside the smoking lounge on deck 8 were especially comfortable. If it isn't too cold or breezy, dining outside at La Terraza for breakfast and lunch is pleasant. One night, however, while we sat outside on deck 9, water poured down from the deck above onto me. It had been raining that day. A design flaw in the ship apparently directed the water onto my chair because it was under the awning, not under the metal part of the deck above. Never have experienced anything like that before on any ship. The ship offers a free laundry room on each deck. The bad news is that there is only 1 washer and 1 dryer per deck. The really bad news is that the laundry room on our deck was so small that if someone opened the door while you are bending down to put something into the dryer, you can get hit in the head. The room was positively tiny. Given the spaciousness of other parts of the ship, that room could have been make larger. Apparently, some other laundry rooms were not that tiny, however. The lounges were well appointed and comfortable. There were only a few children on board. I would not consider it a ship that would have a lot of activities for children. There was a shuffleboard area and ping pong/table tennis upon request. There are a number of lounges in various parts of the ship, although the ones around the pool are at a premium. There is a walking track on deck 11. The gym was small but modern. Due to constant shore excursions, we did not use the gym, though. The spa looked nice, but again we did not use it. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise, but it was not a flawless experience. For a new ship, we found the water temperature issue incomprehensible. Read Less

I really enjoyed my cruise on Marella Explorer. The ship is slightly bigger than the Discovery, which I have also sailed on. The only negative was the 'sail away' party and the first two theatre shows, which could have been better. The 'sail away' party was lead by an excellent female singer. But what was everyone else doing? Very little. This is not the usual experience I've had with Thomson/Marella. This show should be the most important of the cruise but lacked the 'X' factor. The first two theatre shows didn't have a story. SOUL was good but just seemed to be one song followed by another. ROCKOLOGY was similar. But he choice of songs could have been much stronger and need changing. Matt, the cruise director, was excellent. But why have him singing in a small lounge, when he should have been singing 'swing songs' from the musicals on either the main stage or on the deck. All in all though, an enjoyable cruise. Read Less
