Joined dream on 18 dec looking forward to visiting Bethlehem and Jerusalem for the Christmas period. We were on the ship for two weeks supposedly the whole itinerary since booking in September was changed we were not told about Jerusalem and Bethlehem stop even though the ship had been doing this for the last six weeks until we got on board so that the company did not have to refund us or compensate us for yet another change. Our cabin was absolutely disgusting there was vomit on the floor which had less stains on the carpet the beds were soiled with other peoples bodily fluid the head pillows were further soiled with blood and sweat and absolutely stunk after the first night in the cabin I developed breathing difficulties from the dirty tired air-conditioning. We spoke with guest relations manager and told him we needed to leave the ship due to the breathing difficulties I was experiencing thing on board. We left the cabin that day to return to find everything of our belongings were taken from the cabin the carpet been ripped up a brand-new carpet laid and glued down the fumes from the blue further exasperated my breathing problems but as there are no further cabins on board vacant they are unable to move us the ship further even due to my illness could not get off the ship for six days and even then they wanted me to pay for my own flights home when we had £200 in our on-board spend account. They agreed after speaking to their head office that we should pay for our own flights on our card and they would then refund us are on-board credit in cash we flew back to Cardiff and had to pay for hotel accommodation there before we could do our return journey back to London. The food on board the ship was absolutely diabolical the cheapest nastiest sausages bacon thick with fat or collect together frozen vegetables cheap wines and poor quality food chicken still on the bone , stale sandwiches with curled up edges for afternoon tea sausage rolls served warm with no sausage. Every day the buffet service was an absolute feeding frenzy with very dangerous hot serving trays which are sat into a bath of boiling water when you reach into the serving tray the steam comes out and burns you on your wrist and lower arms. The ship overall condition is poor and tired and dirty the rust inside and out is very apparent and the boat creeks and moans when she’s at sea . The pollution that she puts out is unbelievable and the smell of fumes within the ship is disgraceful. The Christmas decorations on board were absolutely pathetic with a small 3 foot blowup Santer being your main feature outside your restaurant door Christmas trees were about 4 1/2 foot 5 foot tall with old-fashioned tinsel and decorations randomly thrown on the tree the whole affect was cheap and shabby. I can only like in the bars and restaurant to a good old-fashioned working men’s club. The pool area even though it was really not hot enough to sit out but not supervised properly and the only thing they had adults could use with a hot tub there are signs up saying that children were not allowed in the hot tub and supervise yet every single day the hot tub is full of children with no adults in sight now we seem to care or do anything about it the ship was full of children with very little entertainment for them on a daily basis. The pool area even though it was really not hot enough to sit out was not supervised properly and the only thing the advice dogs could use where the hot tub is there are signs up saying that children were not allowed in the hot tub and supervise yet every single day the hot tubs were full of children with no adults in sight now we seem to care or do anything about it the ship was full of children with very little entertainment for them on a daily basis Since returning home I have been confined to bed with a lung infection in both lungs having to take antibiotics and steroids daily and rest this has been contracted through poor air-conditioning and is a ongoing serious issue at this precise moment. The ship did organise a private transfer for us to the airport so we didn’t have to go on the coach with the other passages I do actually think as much as we requested this it was probably in their best interest to do this to stop me spreading any kind of infection to other passengers I might of picked up on board the ship I arrived on the ship on the 18th of December fit and healthy. Staff of the ship are way too good to be subjected to what they have to work with there all cheerful smiley bright personable people and way too good to be on the dream. I’m so sorry that I cannot add photographs to this but writing it on my mobile phone it does not give me the facility to upload the photographs of the disgusting cabin and other little treats around the ship Read Less

We had been on the Marella Discovery before and even cruises on the sister ship Marella Discovery 2 last year. We decided to go on another cruise with my Parents and my Brother and Siater-in-law for my Parents 50th golden wedding anniversary. It started out ok with the only gripe was we were not able to book the Surf and Turf speciality restaurant on the day we embarked (11/10/2019), as we missed out with the speciality restaurant we went to the 47 gallery restaurant and the waiter staff were absolutely fantastic which was a consistent feeling when we dined. But this seems to be the only positive thing about the ship. Throughout the whole week the ship smelt of Fuel and a number of the Toilets were continuously blocked and smelly. The Balcony room was looking tired and used needs another refurb. The cabin staff were friendly but missed things when cleaning. The shows were very mediocre compared to previous Marella Cruises. I’m not sure I could guarantee I will cruise by Marella again. Read Less

This is our 10 th cruise and first MSC we chose because of Split, Santorini and Venice and pricing. we had low expectations based on online reviews and we were impressed so much we will take another MSC in Carrebian in Decemeber 2019. Francisco, the restaurant Manager, Herman Fernandis, the Chef and all Waiters in restaurant provided excellent service to our group of 20. Chef cooked a special dietary breakfast and dinner for 4 in our group that we would not have expected from other major cruise line. Even the cafeteria staff is excellent and maintain cleanliness. Mykonos was cancelled due to high winds considering safety- a right thing to do. Talented entertainment programs in the theater. Cabin size and cleanliness were better than some older ships in other cruise lines. Overall our entire group enjoyed the 7 night cruise and no one had any major complaint. Glad we selected this ship and did not pay much attention to bad reviews. Read Less

Picked this cruise from Bari as we wanted to come back to Bari and spend time in the Puglia area.. Cruise was great although more time could have been spent in ports . Restaurant waiters and service was great and food too. Our housekeeper Mundir was very helpful and always there if Needed. Room was always cleaned to perfection. Entertainment staff were the best I have come across on a cruise . All very talented and hospitality with guests were great and so was the music played as well.. Stefano Guzzardi and Yennier Moreno who are part of the entertainment staff have made this cruise very memorable for me.. not only they are kind, funny and great entertainers , they are both great dancers which I love to do and both made time several times for me.. I would love to join them on a cruise one day .. Luigi Incarnato is also a great entertainer and always gets the crowds going.. Read Less

My husband and I decided to book a very spontaneous trip on MSC Magnifica four days before the ship was to set sail through Expedia. We were coming from Boston, USA and took a non-stop flight to Rome, then a smaller flight to Bari, Italy where we embarked. We read some of the negative reviews (mostly about smoking on the ship and staff being rude) but decided to risk the trip anyway. We are so happy we did!! We found most of the criticisms of MSC and the crew to be completely inaccurate. From the moment we boarded, the staff, crew and bartenders were fantastic and very responsive to any of our needs. We did not have to wait very long for drinks, everyone was friendly to us and the ship was gorgeous. The cabin was ready when we arrived with our bags already in the room. The cabin was nicely furnished, very clean, comfortable bed and a beautiful room with a balcony. The dining in the main dining room at night wasn't my favorite. The food was good but nothing blew me away with flavor. If you are what we call in the states "a foodie", this is probably not the cruise for you. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was good, however. Very nice salad bar, hamburgers, french fries, pasta, homemade pizzas, rice, Thai dishes and lots of other choices. We went on the cruise for the Ports of calls and a spontaneous adventure. The dining portion and food were a low priority for us. The Activities on the crew were fun, we danced, had drinks at the cool bars, sat in the sun, and attended many of the Broadway-style shows. They were cute shows with skilled dancers and singers and a nice way to end the night. The thing we loved the most was the amazing ports of call. Every Greek island and/or city (Venice, Montenegro, Bari) was outstanding. Too much to write but a trip of a lifetime. Everything and more that we had hoped for. I highly recommend this cruise. The only small difficulties were lots of Europeans do smoke, but only outside. Not many people spoke English so we were a little isolated (but my husband found that to be a positive lol), the initial Embarkment was a 2.5 hour wait to get on board, and lines were a bit confusing in the buffet area for breakfast and lunch. I recommend going to the buffet right when it opens to avoid the frenzy. The only people I found to complain were the Americans who didn't have a lot of travel experience. Their expectations were too high for some of the places they visited off the ship. We understood that traveling to these ancient cities there would be lines and confusion since they are not equipped for the influx of thousands of tourists descending on their infrastructure at one time. Some of the ports of calls would have 5 cruise ships show up at one time letting 4,000 people off per ship. One last thing, I do believe you need to be average to good shape to walk around these ports of call. I am in good shape (45 year old female) and found it to be moderate to above moderate exercise to get around with lots of cobblestone walkways and uneven terrain. I was grateful my 80 year old parents decided not to attend the cruise with us as I don't think they would have had the energy to walk around. Overall I would rate this an excellent trip and would do it again with my family in a heartbeat. Read Less

Chose the itinerary to experience the new Edge. Had been to all these ports previously except Napflion so the ship was the main driving point for our choice. Embarkation and disembarkation were perfect, total of 15 minutes combined. The process for getting off the Edge at your preferred time was seemlless. Staff was first class everywhere we went. Ivan , Diana and Green in Blu, Cruz maintaing our cabin, Jesse In Fine Cut , the service was immaculate. We frequented Tuscan,Cyprus,Fine Cut,Normandie and Oceanview all were excellent with great menus and selections that always made decisions tough. Entertainment both throughout the ship and on nightly shows was good. I am totally perplexed about folks complaints about the Infinite Cabin. We loved it,Celebrity told us what they wanted to accomplish and in our opinion they delivered. Bathroom was more roomy with wonderful amenities, storage was plentiful for the11 night cruise we enjoyed the ship ,the technology made everything easier to control and the decor is simple modern and stylish. Throughout , Edge is a gorgeous vessel everywhere the art the attention to details made it a pleasure to sail in. The Magic Carpet was unique but with weather factors it may need some rethinking. We actually booked a meal on it and decided to cancel because of wind and cold weather. The one time it was used for tendering it was fantastic. The tender boats are plush and extremely comfortable. Destination gateway a tremendous innovation that made it a pleasure to go ashore. We did 3 private tours and 2 tours with Celebrity. Our Celebrity tour experience was average at best and needs work. The one point that was most interesting to us was Eden both the area and the Restaurant. I loved it my wife did not. Definently it’s something everyone should try with an open mind but at the end it’s an acquired taste. Overall The Edge exceeded our expectations. Again some of the complaints are so silly. Celebrity told us they were trying to change the cruise industry and in my opinion they have done just that. Great job and great cruise. Read Less

Booked this cruse almost a year in advance ( great itinerary that caught our attention) and were shocked when a few months later prices went up 50%!!! It was our 18th cruise and I've never seen anything like that before.. But I am sure that those who paid pretty big bucks, were not disappointed.. The ship is not small but very easy to navigate. wherever we went, we'd find something new we've never seen before. I am talking about ship's decor, theater reinvented, Eden, Magic Carpet .. and more.. Dining - for the 1st time we did not book any specialty restaurants. Edge has 4 dining rooms and each of them has their own mini menu beside the common for all 4. So we had tried 3 of them and food was great!!! Buffet - no complaints .. aft tea with scones and clotted cream ( and we are not British, but LOVED it). We decided to change our dinner time and didn't even had to tell anyone. All our walk ins were successful, we were accommodated right away. Took couple of excursions - no issues there. Tenders were so modern.. again it was the 1st time when we saw something like that. Entertainment - from singers to theater shows - we enjoyed it so much. This ship actually one of not many where you are getting entertained pretty late. usually after the late show ships are "dead" , this one was booming.. loved silent karaoke. Honestly, I teared up a little leaving the ship.. Highly recommend it to 1st time or experienced cruisers. Read Less

This is our third time on the Aegean Odyssey. It will be our last time on the Aegean Odyssey. The ship suffered engine problems on the previous cruise and they were forced to issue a Full refund to all passengers. The company has confirmed that our ship suffered a similar fate and the company made a decision to put a priority on getting the ship to Athens. That meant dropping ports, abbreviating shore leave, and using bus transportation across the island of Crete… I.e. five hours round-trip. A cruise with three days at sea scheduled became a cruise of six days at sea. The company believes a $300 credit is satisfactory. Currently, the majority of the passengers are seeking restitution from the company as we believe they did not meet their contract with their customers and materially changed the nature of this cruise. Before booking with voyages, customers should inquire as to the state of the engines and request a copy of the survey and report that was conducted at the end of March. Buyer beware without confirmation that these engines have been repaired. Read Less

We cruised with overseas Adventure Travel and loved the ship. The food on board really emphasized the food of the region, and the chef was delightful. He really cared that people liked what he served. The cabin was nicer than expected. It was very well designed and comfortable. We had a small balcony-we were traveling in March and it was cool so we didn’t use it as much as we would have liked, but it was nice to pop out in the morning while we docked, or to check the weather. The cruise worked out so both sides of the boat sometimes had a better view, so one side isn’t better than the other. There is one large lounge-comfortable with books, games, etc, and a variety of seating. This was our first small boat cruise and it was much more relaxing than a larger ship. We would sail on this ship again anytime. I will review the activities on the OAT website. Read Less

The ship is amazing and all its beautiful locations. I was lucky to be served by Gopal and Dominic every night at the Main Dining and they were the best waiters in the world and the best I have ever had in my life they were very kind, funny and very helpful, if I have the opportunity to take another Cruise would choose the same and of course Gopal and Dominic too. Thanks to you, we spent one of the best holidays of our lives with my family, with my eyes closed I really recommend rhapsody of the seas. We were a group of 13 friends. We picked the ship because of the itinerary. Good thing we had each other to keep entertained and make the best of this extremely dull ship. The Cruise Director was lackluster and the DJ played awful music. The Spanish Duo was amazing and tried their best to keep the entertainment festive. By 10pm the ship was a ghost town. I felt like I was in a nursing home and it was 10 o'clock lights out. This ship was old and the burgers and pizza were awful. The food overall was average. This is my first and last NCL cruise. The Specialty restaurants were good. We were not able to get a reservation at Teppinaki, that was extremely frustrating, since we paid for the extra specialty dining and had to eat Italian twice. Overall, if you are over 60 and want a quiet relaxing cruise with very little to do, this is the cruise for you. Read Less

We have cruised regularly on Thomson (TUI - Marella) and Cunard. We finally persuaded our friends to join us. The Marella Celebration itinerary was excellent as it included Venice, Dubrovnik and Korcular. Some of our favourite places. Marella is less formal than Cunard, uses Sterling and had a great all inclusive deal when we booked. We did a cruise and stay holiday staying on the island of Kolocep just 30 mins from Dubrovnik. This was our first time on the Celebration but we knew her sister ship, the Spirit very well. Our first impressions were very favourable as though the deck layout is almost identical there is a much more modern feel to the Celebration - less vestiges of her Holland America past. The main dining room food was excellent - we ate all our meals there as it’s so much relaxed experience than the Lido. The included drinks were good enough for the most of us though one of our friends who deals in wine thought the Cote de Rhône to be excellent and good value for money. There were no sea days on this cruise - and I do miss a good sea day to relax. I think all that can be said about the age of the ship has been said before. I love the teak decks and the fact she is easy to get around. What gives this ship her heart are the people who work on it, the value for money and the entertainment. We would certainly return if it was the right itinerary. A first for TUI Marella is a welcome back party for loyal cruisers. You have to go to reception to let them know you have cruised with Thomsons before to be eligible. Cunard contact you and know your status - so me thinks Thomson’s weren’t keeping this info. We even received a little badge! We really found no fault with anything on the ship apart from the embarkation process that takes place on the ship - Long long queues We always choose our cabins after studying the deck plan as we like to be central and not near noisy areas. I do think a deck plan should be given out at departure - like other cruise lines. We knew the layout but our friends hadn’t cruised before. The cabin numbers and decks don’t tally. We were on deck 8 bridge deck but cabin 075. Dining - we dined in the Meridian for most of our meals and were very pleased with the food (better than on the Spirit). We celebrated our anniversary in the Mistral Restaurant which was excellent. Not so impressed by the food in the Kora La - the service was excellent in all the places we ate. Ports of call Bari Montenegro- There is a free port transfer bus to Bar - we then took a taxi to Stari Bar. It cost 5€ agree the price first. Stari Bar is no Kotor but still worth a visit. Korcula - tender port. Lovely old town - birth place of Marco Polo. We went for a wine tasting in a local restaurant- god wine but very expensive. It seems that most wine is produced for local consumption only. Zadar - ship to town transfer costs £7 - drop off near the Sea Organ. Lovely town with Roman ruins and great atmosphere. Venice - Get up foe the sail in - it is so peaceful and the only time you see Venicecwithout the masses. There was no organised transfer to St Marks Square but possible to buy tickets for transfer once off the ship. We realise that there appears to be a hop on hop off water bus that may be worth using. We used the People carrier to take us to P le Roma near the Station. We made a mistake of getting a gondola from here. It costs €80 but not the most picturesque trip. Walk further on - there are plenty of gondola’s around in better settings. We followed the signs to the Rialto bridge. The streets/canals up unti this point are relatively quiet. We then visited St Marks Square. We have visited Venice before so wouldn’t have bothered visiting again as it is always heaving but our friends have not visited before. I would strongly suggest pre booking St Marks or Doge’s palace and trip to Guggenheim art gallery.Eat anywhere away from St Marks or Rialto. Trieste - short walk from ship to main shopping area. Hike up to the castle and church well worth it. Public transport runs up to the castle as well. Split - Diocletian palace and medieval town within is amazing - very game of thrones. Well worth a visit. Dubrovnik - We visited Dubrovnik at night on a sunset trip from Kolocep. We sailed into the old harbour - it was a fabulous trip. For those who are only cruising - the ship doesn’t sail till 10 pm so if you have the energy and inclination get the bus to the Pile gate and spend late afternoon/early evening there before she sails. The cabin was excellent 3) Had a great meal each and every day. Most enjoyable meals were at Izumi's, but overall food was great. The meals were just short of excellent. 4) Entertainment and Activities were just as expected. Sign up for the Triller show, great time. 5) We received 10 star service. I would take this cruise just to be able to be with the crew. 6) Over did it on the shore excursions, slow it down and take it a day at a time. 7) Did not travel with children. Would not recommend them on this ship. 8) I would do the cruise again, just so I could be the ship with the crew. 9) Embarkation was easy, very organized. 10) Enrichment activities were just so so. 11) Entertainment was very good. 12) Fitness was excellent. Great new adventure and European experience. My wife and I truly enjoyed our entire vacation days and nights both on board and ashore. Great port visit selections and ashore excursion offerings. Sumptuous and great food selections and service on both dining areas. Smooth sailing throughout and communications kept clear both on paper and through ship sound/speaker system. On the down side - Entertainment can be improve especially the nightly 4th deck singer / band. I know you can find a better singer somewhere. Song selections were not in tuned with his voice. We have seen and heard better singer than him. Entrance by the pool area leading to the Buffet restaurant had smoking tables. This is the only passage leading to the restaurant. This could be relocated away from the public who has asthma and breathing ailments. It is somewhat unhealthy and distracting. Dress code/rules to the buffet dining area. Flyers were given that "NO SHIRTS" will be allowed to dine. The rule was broken several times and the people at the entrance dispensing antibacterial did not even stop these people. Rules are rules and it is distracting to have shirtless people getting food right next to you. Its annoying and uncalled for!!! Formal dining (Edelweiss) - What an exceptional dining experience!! Manuel (Head Waiter), Vela (Waiter), Vera (Asst. Waiter) did more than a five star service. Their attention to details and service focus truly stands out and noticeable throughout the entire journey - Service Par Excellence!!! We're a group of 24 friends and family on the Rhapshody of the Seas and I have to let you all know Royal Caribbean has lowered there standards a loyalty to their customers. The straw that broke the camels back was a tours we booked with Royal Carrebean are not worth the money they are charging. First they take forever to put you on a water taxi or bus to start your excursions. This is the experience we had when we arrived to Santorini a MUST SEE place that for me I dreamed of for decade's, it took the 2 hours between waiting on the ship for a tenure to actually getting and spending quality time in Santorini. Between the traveling and stops at a winery which I could be cared less for we got to experience Santorini for an hour and a half before needing to walk back to the cable car so you don't mis the boat. The line was an hour long and this must see port of call was only 5 hours or so. Then we book this JEEP tour in the white mountains of Crete which promises adventure and activities and we received 000000000 adventure and 000000000 activities instead they put us on a domestic car called "JEEP" instead of giving a real "JEEP" as the advertisement let's you to believe. We sat in this dam car to rdd a total of 5 hours going up and down a hill, visited a village story for coffee that wasn't filtered and you had to stop in tiny amounts so you don't swallow the coffee grinds. Then we walked next store so he can show us an orange tree and avocado tree. WOW what an adventure. Now drive 50 min up the mountain to visit a Sheppard and get a lecture on making cheese to then gwt back on thge "JEEP VEHICLE" another 50 to go eat lunch at a village. Still waiting for the adventure and activity!!!! My husband had to give us the agriculture lesson while on the road because the guide DID NOT talk to us about the culture, history, or people of Crete. They charged 120.00 US dollars each person for this tour and the advertised discretion DID NOT meet 1% what they said this tour would promise. This was the worst port I've ever been to. My other experiences with Royal Carrebean, we waited 2 days for ice bucket and water to reach our room and they wanted to charge us 7.50 US dollars for calling room service to have ice delivered to our room, mind you we bought the unlimited beverage package!!!!! Captains night, they are no longer offering lobster tail, you now have to pay $25.00 if you want libster on Captains night or any night. My family orders a Cesar salad and there's a live bug still squirming in her salad bowl. I then saud to my self, let me order libster bisque so i can at the very least enjoy some bits of libster, not a single piece of lobster in any one of our soups. My husbans orders a cocktail and gets 0 alcohol in his komakazee shot, it was watered down vodka!!!!! I will not book another cruise with Royal Caribbean regardless of the fact that I'm a gold member and have cruised with them before. They have really lowered their standards and customer service. We're experienced cruisers that chose this cruise for the ports and the ship. The ports and excursions were excellent and the ship did not disappoint. We were travelling with two other couples (siblings and spouses) and spent all of our dinners and most of our excursions together. The main thing to consider with the Mediterranean cruises is that they are not "relaxing" like a Caribbean cruise might be. The two at-sea days were welcomed and needed. . Embarkation was easy and quick, even though our late flight caused us to miss our tour of Rome. .RC reimbursed us for missing this excursion. We used a RC-excursion at each port and we thoroughly enjoyed each one, even though there was quite a bit of walking (3-5 miles). Windjammer for breakfast was good with made-to-order omelets. Dinner was spent at the MDR which had good selections (mostly) and great service. We used the MyTime Dining and made reservations for each night prior to embarkation. Our service was so good the first night, we asked for & received the same table each night. Servers were Ravindra & Vedran. We did try specialty restaurants for two nights - one at Chops, which was excellent and one at Giovanni's, which was a real disappointment based on other RC ship's experience. Our room was was a Spacious Balcony (9054), and everything was nice and clean. Our cabin steward was great, as has always been our experience. The room, itself, was nothing special but in a convenient (central) location on the ship. As for entertainment, the Centrum always had good live music playing, but we were usually too tired from our excursions to do much more than spend a little casino time before bed. One show we attended was a Celine Dion impersonator that was very good. Disembarkation was necessarily early but smooth. Read Less

It was a surprise anniversary present to celebrate 50 years married. What a way to do it,the only way,and that's in STYLE. Totally spoiled like no other holiday. 1 the ship ,what can't you say about her and the crew. Professional, organised, polite, hygienic, happy and cheerful. Going that little bit extra just to please. 2 Security at its best. 3 Food ,well if anyone complains about 5 star meals they must be Ill. Breakfast great selection.lunch if you had room. Evening dinner in the Pegasus something else. Table 570 we hijacked it for the entire cruise. Head waiter Roberto and waitress Teresa looked after our party of 7 like family. Advising us on the menue selection, the destination for the following day, places of interests, wine for the evening. So relaxing to know your being looked after. The food and quality pluses presentation equals to at least a Michelin Star rating. 4 The cabin steward for 203 just brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. 5 The cruise itineraries can only be described as brilliant. However Malta could be sacrificed for another destination. 6 The on board facilities and entertainment were mind blowing. Something for all age groups. Finally, than you for just an amazing experience, something to remember and something to plan for the next one. Read Less

I have always wanted to take a Mediterranean cruise and finally had the opportunity to do so. First time on NCL, and I was very impressed with the services. The Sprit is an older ship, and I thought they did a good job with the remolding. We were a group of 10 and we all enjoyed the food, entertainment and port of calls. Although the freestyle was an adjustment for us, we were able to adjust with ease. Other adjustments we worked with are having to pay for their Specialty dining, which one was a steakhouse, the other served French, and I believe the other was Japanese food. 2 iof the restaurants, which were many favorites, were small and filed up quickly, it was difficult to sit a group, but eventually we were able to work it out. We also discovered that NCL charges for laundry, which is the only way to get your laundry done. I will definitely cruise with NCL again. Read Less

We travelled with Road Scholar, about 20 of us. We had our own guides separate from the what was provided to the other passengers on the ship. Pros - Nice size ship, under 300. Easy on/off. Restaurants not modded. - Very nice crew - Lovely outside deck for meals (there was also a restaurant inside, see below) - Food quality good - Good value - Spa services good Cons - Ship needs renovation. Rooms looks like my dorm room from the 1970s -- without the posters. Desperate need of soundproofing: sitting in bed at night each night, I could hear two people in the next room recounting their day like they were in my room. Spa facilities a bit low end for the prices, though the practitioners were good - At least on my level, there was frequently a septic smell in the hallways - The staff is very friendly, but any special request is met with a blank face and sometimes panic. I don't know what the training is that they get, but it must be about discouraging special requests. There was also the battle to get a refill on a cup of coffee each morning. - The shore excursions were rushed. For Road Scholar shore excursions, we went on our own, but we pretty much tracked with the ship. I don't know if this was required. We moved so quickly through sites that there was no time to sit and appreciate what we were seeing -- or to stop by the museum shop to pick up a book. It's not because we were sailing. We'd often sit in port for hours after, meaning endless rows of souvenirs shops. - The food was dull and repetitive. You would never know we were in the Mediterranean. For some reason, there was an "Asian Buffet Night". I assume most clients of this line want familiar food and that's fine, but I wanted an English type menu, I'd have gone to England. - We went along with the ship on two of their excursions that were really disappointing. First, Murano Island, which was solely a buying trip. We were discouraged from exploring the island outside the factory that we were brought to. The guide said "there's nothing see" which I knew wasn't true because I'd been before on my own. The guide also discouraged us from checking other shops/studios on the island. When I exited the shop to just look at the scenery, I was encouraged by the guide to go back in and do more shopping. What a scam! Second, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. We went at night. The site takes about 15 minutes to go through. The paintings are all copies. There was a reception for us, consisting of sparkling wine and little quiche cups things (we were ready for dinner by then). It took up the whole evening. Total waste of time given all the pleasures Venice has to offer. Groups of passengers started going back to the ship earlier than planned because there was so little to see at the site -- and the ship, which was going to have dinner for us, said we had to wait until 10p. This is when the mask of geniality dropped and instead out came hostility. There's no flexibility or improvisation, which is what really makes good service. In summary: Road Scholar elevated my experience on the tour, but the ship is run-down and I wouldn't take a trip with them again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we were faithful customers of the (much missed) Swan Hellenic ship Minerva...this seemed like the best match. In many ways it was just what we were looking for... - right size of ship- easy to get around and didn’t feel too busy or crowded - everything very clean and tidy - comfy bed - some interesting fellow passengers - efficiently run excursions - pleasant pool area - no dining restrictions -choose your time, place and dining companions - friendly waiting staff and charming room steward - really good on board lecturers- this was a highlight - all knowledgeable and entertaining However... - lacking the special touches which made Minerva great...no invitation to visit the bridge, no live music with afternoon tea, no opera ensemble, no special dinners at the start and end, no invitation to dine with the captain (who was virtually invisible), no towel sculptures by the pool(!), no crew demonstration (cooking/wine/flowers etc)m no on deck barbecues - overpriced spa - pointless ‘shopping’ trip to Murano - lectures out of synch with port visits..some took place after the trip! On one occasion, a scheduled lecture disappeared and then reappeared (after the visit) but wasn’t advertised so most of us missed it...given the very high quality of the lectures, this was disappointing - very limited library space and book stock - inadequate for the number of passengers - there were a number of ‘groups’ on board for whom activities were arranged - bridge players, single travellers, Australians/New Zealanders, Road Scholars, choir members...if, like us, you weren’t part of any of these groups, you could feel excluded - we did...and it made meeting people more difficult as these groups tended to stick together - the biggest negative was the evening entertainment which was hugely disappointing...we initially thought the quality of the musicians was not very good until we heard a jazz session by two of the musicians...the classical double bass player and the pop pianist -brilliant -so maybe they were all otherwise playing music they didn’t like! Unfortunately the majority of the entertainment (6 nights out of 10) was provided by the cruise director...he was a charming and helpful presence around the ship -always cheerful no matter what but...we went to his first performance (ABBA I think) and realised it wasn’t for us which meant lots of dull evenings. I can’t comment on his talent or otherwise as we didn’t return but, however good he might have been, this type of entertainment seems a strange fit on a cruise focusing on Greek and Roman sites with accompanying erudite lectures...opera, classical, more lectures would be good...I guess this may be a minority opinion but it’s strongly felt We’ll consider another Aegean Odyssey again next year (if the itineraries are right) but will also look around for other options - mainly because of the entertainment issues Read Less

- Overall the Experience was great but there are areas that needs improvements... = Food - Excellent, as well as the customer service of waiters, but had a let down on requested dishes. - Buffet Food are all the same in 7 days and Melamine Plastic Wares are used in the upper deck which does not look 5 star. = Room Service - Excellent, can not fault anything... = Facilities/Cleanliness - Good. The pool area may need a more thorough drying everytime as it is a trip hazard. The elevators appears to be slow. = Entertainment - Superb, but the activities needs to be announced more simply and properly on the daily newsletter (it appears complicated, hence was not able to fully maximize the entertainment experience). We experienced heavy fog upon return to Venice Port hence we were delayed both in dissembarkation and our flight back to our origin. We stayed nearly 2 hours at the bus stop and all the ground staff were nearly clueless on what to do. There were a lot of old people as well as children who stood up long while all the staff appears to be incompetent and in panic on where to place all of us. It was such a disaster which I think was not the first time experience as heavy fogging are usually happening this time of the year. The Royal Caribbean Cruise Line should look at these incidents and improve their planning and strategies in dealing with delays and emergencies. We were eventually housed in a hotel but was surprised to be waken very early in the morning only given half an hour to prepare and board a bus to the airport. I have two kids and so it was really a struggle that we all need to shower, dress up and bring down all luggages with a very short alloted time. We were not able to take breakfast as well, hence became very dehydrated by the time we board the transfer flight going back to our origin. Finally, several of us had loss a luggage upon return which up until now is missing. I would say that the initial experience was very good but due to lack of disaster planning on the part of RCCL our holiday were eventually ruined in the end... Read Less
