"Most of the ports required a steep climb up the levees due to the low river, and although they offered golf carts to get you up the hill, and the buses had seats up front for those with limited mobility, getting on and off the cart and bus wasn't easy.We called the Monday before our embarkation to find out if the cruise was still on, and if our 2 night extension in New Orleans was still going to happen...."Read More

We were really disappointed in this recent December cruise from Nashville to Memphis.
First the many positive things....
The food was really good, ample and varied.
The staff everywhere on the ship were very friendly and helpful, especially the dining room staff.
The ship seemed to be well maintained and clean and safe from the virus.
The evening entertainment was probably above ...

Hi SunBurstFC! Thank you for your review and for sailing with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the food and found our staff to be helpful. However, we regret to hear that you were...
I chose this cruise because a few years ago we went on a American Queen Voyage. It was wonderful. Since it was the same company I thought this would be too. A few days before our voyage they changed our dining time to 7.30. I tried to change it back but they said it was because of the CDC guidelines. (some people did get it changed) They also sent us an email saying that there would be dining in ...
After some negative reviews, I wanted to share our experience on The American Duchess. We took an eight day cruise in Tennessee. It was the perfect way to get back to traveling. Everyone was vaccinated for Covid and was tested the evening before we embarked. It is an older crowd and therefore, we met some fascinating and well traveled passengers. The food and drinks were wonderful, with a vast ...
We accompanied another couple who had chosen this cruise from Memphis to New Orleans. The weekend before our cruise, New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Ida. We called the Monday before our embarkation to find out if the cruise was still on, and if our 2 night extension in New Orleans was still going to happen. We didn't get any answers until late in the afternoon the day before we were due to ...
The American Queen Steamboat Company needs to improve customer service from the company office. The experience on the American Duchess was very good and the crew went out of their way to accommodate. However, the corporate office did not care about their customers concerns about taking the cruise under these conditions and promises made by company representative were not followed up on. We had to ...
My husband and I took the American Duchess from St. Louis to Minneapolis on the Mississippi River. We knew it would be quieter than other cruises we have taken, but we were not really prepared for how little there was to do (both onboard and at the ports of call). The boat had virtually no entertainment, other than cheesy 45-minute shows given each day by an entertainment staff of 3 people ...

Hello denschrim,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Life is slower on the river! It's what many of our repeat guests enjoy. Our authentic, American paddlewheelers offer...
Highly recommended by a very close friend. Professionalism the whole time with all of the staff: Pursers, restaurant staff, housekeeping staff, deck and bar/lounge staff - we can't say enough about how much fun, professional and knew their stuff!
The entertainment was very good each night, the band exceptional and especially for Memorial day they had a service and a retired Army Chaplin ...

Until next time....
We are just getting home from our 2 7days back 2 back. Starting in Louisville ending in Memphis. (Sorry my embarkation port is not listed) We are both overwhelmed by the service, food & beverages, entertainment, excursions, and accommodations
The day/night before your cruise starts you will stay in a local 5 star Hotel. There will be complimentary COVID testing. Everyone has to be ...
This was the first of two cruises on the American Duchess starting in Louisville with the turn around in St Louis then traveling on to Memphis. What a wonderful experience! The trip starts with an overnight stay in an included excellent hotel and then included transportation to the boat. So nice to start with a good night’s rest. The best service, best crew, great entertainment. I just can’t ...

Hello Hdlandshark! A two-week voyage - how fun! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to welcoming you back to the rivers!...
We decided to book a United States river cruise because it fell within the guidelines of the CDC. We have done 50+ ocean cruises but this was our small boat cruise. There was much hesitancy before boarding on whether we would enjoy it or not. We definitely were pleasantly surprised by all aspects of the cruise. From the ease of boarding and embarkation we were amazed at the efficiently and ...
