We chose this cruise because it would visit Charleston SC. Unfortunately, we did not recognize that it was Easter break for many children. We had not been to Charleston or Miami in many years. We loved Charleston when we first visited there. Charleston is still a lovely place to see and we enjoyed our tour of the city. We stayed aboard the ship in Orlando and had a quiet day. Miami was a bit chaotic both on our tour and in the city. Nassau is Nassau, always the same but that can be good, because we have special places we stop at every time we visit. Nassau is always pretty, the weather is always beautiful for us and it's a lively place with lots of life going on. We missed CoCoCay this time due to winds that prevented tendering everyone over to the island. The Grandeur has great staff, friendly, caring and always ready with a smile. I did see the security staff always present to deal with any incidents anywhere on the ship. If it hadn't been for the noise and chaos of 500 children onboard getting wilder and wilder each day, it would have been a perfect cruise. We still love children, and the Grandeur but will just double check our calendar from now on before booking a cruise. Read Less

Awesome time on this cruise! I took my 9 yo son and he was so excited about the Adventure Ocean club. I just wish that our CocoCay port wasn't cancelled. We were told that the swells in the water were too big for the tenders. Based off several reviews, RC hasn't stopped there in a while. One reviewer said they stayed in Nassua for an extra day. They should have had a plan B knowing that this has been their immediate history. I also wish they had a bit more late night stuff for the adults to participate in. My son was so excited to go to late night but I didn't have any "late-night" activities to participate in while he was gone. I'm not a big gambler so the casino was not of interest to me. I hung out at the bar with my sister-in-law or we took walks around the ship to take in the sights. But not many adult activities. Read Less

We like sailing out of Baltimore because it is an hour and a half from Philly. The smaller ship is more to our liking. The only grievance is that the parents were not in control of their children much of the time. Yes, I know it was Spring Break, but the children were allowed on the dance floor doing cartwheels and running a muck. There are places for the children to play and many things for them to do. It took away the enjoyment of the adult entertainment to have a bunch of unruly kids running and playing on the dance floor during adult time. The parents seemed to be edging them on as if the entire ship wanted to see their child trying to act Other than this and the fact that we were not able to get on Coco-cay, it was an otherwise enjoyable cruise. Obviously we will not be doing the "Spring Break" Cruise anymore. However, overall, because of the smaller ship we were able to get on and off easier. We really enjoyed the entertainment and friendliness of the staff. All in all, we love Royal Caribbean and will definitely be sailing with you again. Joe and Lydia Read Less

We initially chose this cruise based on price. After going on the cruise, I would definitely pick it based on the service you get from the staff. Always smiling and extremely attentive to your needs. Airy and Toni were exceptional waiters in the Gatsby Dining Room (level 5). Unfortunately due to weather we were unable to do our last port of call in Cocoa Cay, Bahamas. We ended up staying overnight in Freeport. Wished we had known sooner as we spent the day on the ship while in Freeport and was planning a beach day in Cocoa Cay. This was the 2nd cruise for our 7 year old daughter (cruised last year on another cruise line) and other than the lack of a kids water park she loved, loved, loved the cruise. She really enjoyed the kids program. We really liked the days where we could sign her up (at no additional cost) for the supper program. We took advantage of this for one evening (daughters idea) and we all enjoyed our evening. Read Less

This was our 10th Cruise, the second on Royal Caribbean. The ship is older but does not feel or look as such. Pros: -Super easy to get into the Port and your luggage is taken right away -Easy embarkation (a previous review mentioned that the walk was long). You burn a few calories but it's not a bad walk at all. -Good entertainment, the Cruise Director did a great job. In addition to the nightly shows his crew did a show in the Centurium each night and were quite entertaining -Lots of activities throughout the day on Sea Days (as well as days while in Ports) -Cococay (RC private island) is beautiful and has great snorkeling -Good selection of Shore Excursions -Quick dining room service -Attentive Staff -Our room was nice and spacious -Chef's Table is fabulous and worth the money -Giovanni's is great and you get more than your money's worth -Easy Debarkation Cons: -Need to cutback on promoting the sale of the Specialty Restaurants. Yes, they need to be promoted but it was a bit much -Too long in Nassau -Too short in Key West I would definitely recommend this Cruise! If you want to find something to complain about you can but if you like to have a good time; well you will! Read Less

We have just returned from the Medeterainan week with the ship.Firstly let me start by telling you that we had a great time...... Yes the ship is slightly dated and is showing its age in certain areas but hey that can be said for 90% of hotels also!! The staff are amazing and always served you with a smile and most went out of their way for you if you asked for something. The food in the main resturant definatly got worse as the week went along,this is a view held by all people that we spoke to.Although it was still not terrible it certainly wasnt as good as the begining of the week.The menu was dominated by fish or beef.Again the staff were great. Now coming onto the "drinks package" this is something that Royal Carribian dont go out of their way to advertise.Yes its there but you have to ask for it. They offer 3 packages- 1 beer and wine, 2 beer,wine and spirits or 3 beer,wine spirits(all brands) Prices start from 234 dollars for the beer/wine package(which if you like a drink is DEFINATLY worth taking out) Included in the packages are most brands of beer including strongbow newcastle brown,corona.etc which makes a pleasant change to "house" beers. The sun decks got VERY full on the 2 days we had at sea and by 8.30am most sunbeds have vanished.We did see pool attendents taking towels off unused sunbeds at times by not often enough. The indoor pool is ADULT only(slightly unfair when they charge FULL PRICE for children) On the days in port we found the shuttle services a total RIP OFF AND REFUSED TO PAY THE 10 DOLLARS PER PERSON to be shuttled into the towns.(how they can charge this is beyond me and left a sour taste in our mouths!!!) Instead we made our own way which was VERY VERY easy..... In Barcelona the public bus stops outside the terminal building and runs every 10 mins COST 3 EUROS RETURN In Ibiza taxis pull up at the gate every other minute COST TO IBIZA TOWN 7 EUROS PER TAXI. In Malaga the public bus runs every 10 min and COSTS 3 EUROS RETURN(dont belive Royal Carribian when they tell you there is NO public transport) In Gibralter its a nice pleasant 10 min walk into town or shuttle mini buses charge 5 Euros. We also noticed that the ship docked as far away as it possible could from ALL ports(is this to save money???) most other cruise ships docked a lot closer. All in all we think the ship represented value for money on the offers that seen and if the price was right we would go again. Read Less
